kemi:
As the increased masternode waiting time is concerning to a lot of people, I took a look at the system and checked why this was the case.
Long story short, the masternode reward queue is based on a consensus mechanism, meaning that, there has to be a clear majority of locked coins voting for the same block reward winners. However, if a significantly big number of new masternodes (in terms of millions locked) are created at once, for example 25%, the queue changes because the new masternodes also get a chance to vote on block winners. Finally, if more than half of masternodes are new, the whole queue is reformed. In our current situation, the majority of coins in masternodes were locked after the initial queue had already been formed. This led to the cycle being extended and longer reward waiting time. After this queue reforming process is over, there will be a clear queue established in the network, and the waiting time will become shorter again. I can't say for sure how much longer it can take to finish this process (what masternodes vote for depends on their local data, therefore it is impossible to see what each masternode will vote for in the future), but it is nearly finished and those masternodes who have not received in a long time (10 days, for example) will receive rewards soon again.
To better understand the masternode voting system: imagine it as a presidential election, however, instead of all people voting, only 10 people are randomly selected to vote (in case of masternodes, the more millions there are locked in a masternode, the more likely it is to be selected to vote for a block winner). The candidate with the most votes wins.
If you want more information about the processes or have any questions, I'll be happy to answer.
I am also nearly finished with a reward ratio calculating algorithm for individual masternodes and masternode tiers, which will reflect more accurate reward ratios between different masternode tiers than the masternodes.online
