55K loss, how to get back into the game

Folks, what a terrible year 2018 has been so far. I invested around 60K and now left with 5K. I did terrible mistakes and I hope there would be a turnaround sometime next year or so. Any suggestions?

You should sell yesterday, when the price hasn't been like this. I've often reminded others about the dangers of holding. many people misinterpret HODL, they think the benefits can come only by holding a coin.

You are right to some extent but I think this is good to hold your coin for long because when you buy at red then only holding is the way to make profit. If you lost the mentioned amount, I am sad for you but this happens only for selling at panic. Just be patient to over come your lose I am sure soon you will earn more than you lose.

You can lose money if you trading on Bitmex for example. You can lose money if you take part in some HYIP. There are many ways to lose money in the crypto

Your advice is meaningless. Traders also an earn under bad market coinditions like bear market,flash crash. For example,if this guy sold his assets   on downtrend later he can  buy back same amount of token for less price. Difference will be profit for smart trader.

First, You've to take note of the mistakes you made that resulted in those losses. Next you've to learn from your mistake to ensure same misfortune does not repeat itself. The bear market has taught a lot of us so many things. For me, I've learnt to add stop-loss to my trades and always take profits at the top. As for your loss, You're one of many. I lost quite a lot as well. 2019 promises to be more favorable than 2018. We'll just have to wait and see how it goes.

I hope you did invest your own money. It would be great (but very expensive) lesson how not to get in FOMO when the rocket has been already started without you. This is the best time to develop the investment strategy and to study hedging methods for the next bull market. You should always have the backdoor method for such kind of negative and "unexpected" situations.

NO. You invested 60000 dollars in Bitcoin and are left with coins worth 5000 dollars. This can mean a loss if you were to sell right now. The market doesn't show a true price of something at every given moment. It's volatile. If it swings from 4000 to 5000 one day and the other day it falls down to 3500 what was the real price? Does this price today at 3500 mean that this is what it was worth all along and you made a mistake buying at 4000?

Bitcoin is not worth 3500 dollars! It's trading around this price now but this is not the true price of it. It's in a turmoil where it's trying to establish a new bull market.

Well of course you have a big drawdown, I think a reasonable solution would be to keep your tokens and wait for the bulls to return to the market only if you keep good coins

If the worth that coin you should wait or keep to increase the value but if that real cash you can invest the remaining money. 55k is almost millions to my country and it is very high. I believe you can get back again that if you are patient to wait.

No way? That's a lot of losses you got there. Well, if you will not give-up and trust with your investment and wait, you might get to recover. Just wait for maybe 5 or more years. If you are planning to invest in ICOs next time, better not because every after ICO from what I notice, is a huge dump which pounds the price to the bottom. After the sell-off, that's the time you gotta buy.

You're not alone in this terrible loss. Some loss their opportunity to profit and some loss their capital. The worse that could happen to you now is to lose hope when its a lot brighter on the other side if you just wait. If your ETH last bullrun was worth $1200, it could be doubled in the next bullrun. Well, do not panic and sell your coins that have already gone to the stock exchange. The only right choice to go into a long hold. Perhaps you can earn a good amount on this next year on the bull.

Thats quite big loss , i would just hold the coins / tokens what you got with 60k . There is no other choice , just leave them in your private wallet and live your life . After year or two hopefully will be better =] I think its not only you that lost value in tokens . Im kinda in same boat

I guess that OP invested not in Bitcoin but in some altcoins, because his losses amount to $55K / $60K = about 91%. Bitcoin has never fallen so low even if this investor bought it at the all-time high.

As a rule, dumped altcoins slowly recover to the maximal value of prices, because investors lose their confidence in this crypto currency. That's why I suppose that the OP needs to cash out these dumped altcoins and spend the remaining $5K for some undervalued and promising crypto currency which can make 10x in a short time. But in this case, the risks will be high.
