Binance Lists Ripple’s XRP as a Base Pair

Crypto exchange Binance has added Ripple’s XRP as a base currency on the exchange. With this announcement, it means that XRP will now be used more as a primary asset that can be used to make purchases of other cryptocurrencies listed on the platform. Although some minor digital exchanges have already added XRP with other altcoins and fiat currencies, this will mark the first listing of its kind on a top crypto exchange. Binance is rolling out the TRX/XRP (Tron) and XZC/XRP (Zcoin) pairs.

Changpeng “CZ” Zhao, CEO of Binance, flirted with the idea of making this move earlier in the year, giving signs via Twitter that the company was planning something in this direction.

The XRP community unanimously rallied, believing it should be added as a base pair on Binance. A user on Twitter with the username “C3|Nik” asked Zhao to list the currency as a base pair to the exchange. Zhao didn’t respond, but another Twitter user with the username “izombieXRP” asked for him to either perform the same action or gift him a Camaro.

In response to “izombieXRP’s tweet, Zhao had teased the user, saying, “Careful what you wish for. ”

Days later, Zhao made the announcement officially via his Twitter account.

    We will be adding a couple trading pairs with XRP as the quote currency shortly.

    And rename ETH markets to ALTS market. Running out of space on the UI.

Binance, the largest crypto exchange in the world by daily trade volume, expanded its token offering this year, focusing specifically on stablecoins. Earlier in December, it launched a range of pairs, TrueUSD, a USD-pegged stablecoin, serving as a quote currency on the platform.

A positive thing for XRP but I don't think the real potential of this news will show in this bloody market (although it did a nice jump in price). However , If bitcoin decide to finaly go on a bullrun XRP will go ham.  Binance seem to be adding more and more trading pairs, and it's bad news for ethereum since it was the only trading pair on binance along with BTC and USDT .

From what I was seeing in altcoin discussion thread last year (because I visit this section very rarely), people hate ripple. Isn't it true? At some point yes but seems this coin became second coin on coinmarketcap, ethereum failed but why? In reality ether is great and has better functions than ripple, it has support from financial institutes and people see this as a least thing in crypto, I mean this coin isn't decentralyzed and it's far from crypto world.
Btw would love to see if other top exchangers follow binance... And if ripple leave ethereum without chance...

Much better luck for me, bought a few a week ago.

"Why it was ever second is something I will never understand" I was not in the crypto field at the time so can't react on this, but last year pump was irrational for sure. Or let's say it was rational because of FOMO.

I have seem lately they had added XRP trading pair on Binance . It's positive news for XRP community. We have seen XRP became 2nd position end of the year on CMC. No doubts XRP is a potential coin. I think XRP donate huge amount to Binance as well. However XRP also deserve it because of market position. Although added new XRP pair but we can't see much effect on price by the way. Just show same as other alts. Since Bitcoin is mother coin I don't think other pair will much benefited except Dex exchange.  XRP doin well and let's see on future what is result.

I do not know why the Binance adds a new trading pairs for a ripple, but this will obviously lead to an increase of the price of XRP. I do not believe in the ripple itself but you can buy it just to take some profit

I don't trust USDT and still it has a lot of success. People don't care much what tools they get as long as they can speculate and earn money off that.
Maybe, just maybe Binance has come to some interesting ideas when Tether price had its strange days with 0.95-ish price: with a coin not pegged to US Dollar even larger fluctuations are possible and maybe Binance can benefit.

well, I have heard this rumor from a few months ago and right now it really does happen, it will make ripple prices more stable than before and maybe some exchanges will provide xrp trade pairs like binance.
and maybe ethereum will no longer be able to catch up with  ripple.

Sometimes a lot of traders who do not care too much about the future project of altcoin. The fact is many of us are utilizing fomo to get a profit. Ripple is great altcoin but many people also hate it and on the other side of the hater also utilize ripple to earn a profit. Binance a huge market and the positive things that we can get is more larger volume the more easy we looking for loopholes to enter or can say it "hit-and-run".

I appreciate having further options than just BTC and ETH, it can allow the market to be more free from dependence on their success. It's highly likely this will benefit XRP price given that Binance is the biggest exchange and there could possibly be a lot more through traffic in XRP

A large number of options are always better for traders. It would not only decrease the multiple exchange fees taken in every step of conversion, it would also make the trading faster and convenient. There are other options for people if they find the binance UI messy.

I think this is a measure before ethereum fork. I don't like ripple never.  it can be in a game to raise the ripple =)

Yes and no, I guess. Having Ripple as a base trading pair can also mean that people will buy XRP to trade on Binance, especially if they want to hold on to BTC and ETH, which a lot of people will want to do now. At the same time, XRP volume trading means there's more XRP earnings for Binance in terms of commission. More available XRP to sell and at more competitive rates = more demand? Hard to tell with Ripple!

binance looks at the trend and understands that Ripple made a lot of partnerships and XRP gaining popularity. Thats why they made a new trading pair, for which they will take more money from the projects

xrp has managed to convince one of the biggest exchanges in the world to do something big, this is very important for ripple in the future and I am sure there will be more exchanges with xrp
