In this market on these days it doesn't really matter if a coin is good or bad as people like you (no offense intended) who earnestly believe in some cryptocurrency (like Ethereum or whatever) have become a source for sucking money from. In fact, if a coin is good, all the worse for it. You can't win this game as your coins are fueling further market manipulation which will leave you penniless in the end. It is pretty much like a casino, the longer you play the stronger the casino becomes with your money and so do market manipulators (let's call them sharks)

i thought eth fork had already been cancelled ? you did said that eth will pump after the hardfork but why you are suggesting that we should sell our eth's ?  i agree that whenever theres a fork , the price of a coin can also pump but you we should act fast because the pump cannot last a long time due to sellers will also sold thier hodlings to be able to gain a profit just like you  .

you also said that eth is a useful coin on which i also agree with it because i can also see and feel it . we must not dispose our eth with that said no matter what happen .  if we want to buy other coins , then use other cryptos or use fiat to buy  them  . basic

IT needs to be only your decision, but remember that it is better to buy BTC at these levels rather than even on 6,XkUSD or ETH on 300+USD.

I would continue to hold btc, Eth and few other coins so that have the mix of everything and this also diversify my portfolio which will help me in the new future as I will not be depended on just one single coin. Also as it is said that do not put all you eggs under one basket.

The point is altcoins are falling much stronger and it is not given or set in stone that when we start to rise again (or rather, if we start to rise again), altcoins are going to follow Bitcoin's lead. Personally, I'm certain only of Litecoin's imminent success as it will likely even outperform Bitcoin, while the rest of the pack will be slowly grinding behind, if at all

yes, this makes sense. but, basically bitcoin also has advantages behind it all. well, sometimes some altcoins can become unstable, and not forever if the altcoin price can go up to 3x compared to bitcoin, because it all depends on the project. however, it all depends on you, because altcoin and bitcoin have their advantages. for now, I save both.

This system works amazingly when things are going low. Think about it, check out all coins that dropped in the past year and check out bitcoin, bitcoin is really the only coin that went down this much, all others went down a lot.

However, if we think bitcoin will go down then its best to sell all and keep your money in bitcoin since it doesn't go down as much as other coins. Look at when OP asked this question, the price was around 3700 bitcoin which means even tough it went down, it didn't went down too much so it wouldn't make any difference but even with that unless you are holding ethereum it was still a good decision to keep it at bitcoin.

That's not a given

Obviously, for the majority of altcoins it was a one way ticket to the graveyard, so whether Bitcoin rises or falls, they are going to die anyway. But it is not only them as even top altcoins are unlikely to outperform Bitcoin long term. How come? If Bitcoin is set to rise in the future (which is not a given, either, just in case), most likely it will be due to its real value expanding (as opposed to purely speculative value). But in these circumstances we shouldn't really expect altcoins to rise as much as Bitcoin (let alone outperform it)

You cannot be surprised if people are mad at ETH as many people have lost their money with the scam projects being started using the platform and since majority of the scams are using the platform to carry out their business the reputation of the coin changes with it. I really do not consider it is a currency, every one can have their take on the subject. Some of the interesting projects are TRON which has the potential but yet a penny stock, the rest of the coins are priced a lot higher to accumulate in large numbers. When ever the price of bitcoin goes down it is always a good time to enter for the long hold.

It is not like it is granted by default to every coin after it is created. So far the only utility (uniqueness and being useful in their own way) that the majority of coins revealed was usefulness for speculation. But since you can short only a selected list of altcoins, this usefulness disappeared as soon as the market had started crashing. They may brag about anything, but the market evidently knows better

but to be able to get multiple profits in altcoin you need to be able to know the altcoin that can potentially increase prices, whereas if you already have ethereum and several altcoins but don't have bitcoin then wait until the bitcoin price can really go up and wait for the altcoin price also follows the price movements of bitcoin. after the price rises and becomes expensive you can sell it.

and in my opinion you shouldn't use just one investment right? more over Ethereum is a good and profitable coin to diversify?
sell coins that if it's the right time to sell, but don't use all the funds just to buy bitcoin
