Has anyone ever tried to list the signatures campaigns that those banned users where participating? It would be interesting to know which campaigns and which projects these users help promote. And even more important, who are the managers who hire these users ...

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

As far as I can remember, there was a thread where iasenko (not sure) was trying to list the bounty managers who accept shitposters. Don't know it is maintained now or not.

Edit:
Here it is, not maintained nowadays.

Top 10 most banned signatures in the last 4 months:

Semux (36 bans)
Securix (32)
Privcy (31)
Sidera (23)
Eloncity (21)
Buddy (15)
Sonder (13)
Mevu (12)
Kubitx (11)
Swipe (10)

Keep in mind that signatures get removed for permabanned users so this is not entirely accurate - I can only count it if I happened to fetch user info before the ban and it might have changed by the time ban occurred. And of course it doesn't tell you what signature the user was wearing when the offense was committed, which could have been months before the ban. However it's still a reasonable indication of which campaigns hire shitty posters.

Edit - top 10 personal texts (I broke the links intentionally):

dApps Development Automation Platform (23)
https: //eloncity.io/ (22)
One Token to Move Anything Anywhere (19)
https: //www.soar.earth/ (16)
Blockchain Just Entered The Real World (15)
WPP ENERGY - BACKED ASSET GREEN ENERGY TOKEN (14)
The All-in-One Cryptocurrency Exchange (13)
Look ARROUND! (12)

I couldn't find user Pompa in the lists, although I think that he is banned due to the date of his last comment and the absence of signature.

I wonder, are there many such cases?

According to BPIP, he/she is not banned just have a few deleted posts.

Code:
Security/Moderator Log

2 replies deleted by moderators

Or, the user ID in BPIP just haven't been updated

Yes Sad
Data on banned users came from very recent and thus very incomplete saved versions of modlog.

According to BPIP, he/she is not banned just have a few deleted posts.
Vod also doesn't have data from earlier years.

New data
  • I received a list of banned users from suchmoon, starting mid-September.
  • I also found this List of Autobans created by botany, with data from the first 6 months of 2017. I'll add them now.
Update: another 7000+ accounts added to the list.

I downloaded your file "banned.txt" a few minutes ago. Thanks again for this big update.

Previously I used my own list of banned users made manually. It contains about 150 members. Now I've compared my list with your list.

I have not found these four users in your file "banned.txt":

1) ATMcoin
https://bpip.org/profile.aspx?p=ATMcoin

2) hirozaki faraday

3) billsted86
https://bpip.org/profile.aspx?p=billsted86

4) Chainblock

Thanks, I've added them to my local list, they'll be included in the next update.
Somehow, my overview of all accounts with tag "Autobanned" on BPIP was incomplete.

Unfortunately, I don't have a complete list of all banned accounts.  If a data dump becomes available, I'll use that.

It's not entirely clear why BCT admins do not provide this information, but I hope they will comply your request eventually.

Recently theymos said in suchmoon's thread:

16,224 sMerit is held by autobanned users (including the initial sMerit).

I downloaded the file "banned.txt" a few minutes ago and made the following statistics on banned users:

Total banned 172384 users:
  • 78 Legendaries (0.05%)
  • 273 Hero Members (0.16%)
  • 850 Sr. Members (0.49%)
  • 1873 Full Members (1.09%)
  • 3124 Members (1.81%)
  • 1373 Jr. Members (0.80%)
  • 164813 Newbies (95.61%)

Please note that these ranks are based on the merit amount regardless of current activity.

Total destroyed 633780 merits and 2829 earned sMerits.

It seems that another 13395 sMerits are initial sMerits which have been airdropped on the day the merit system was introduced.

This is the first user I saw he can get unbanned after perma banned.  Shocked
One more time, theymos made me surprised.

I also hope Limx Dev can come back like this, but it seems unrealistic because his case is too different than ChiBitCTy.

Another user got unbanned:
389271: Limx Dev

I also hope Limx Dev can come back like this, but it seems unrealistic because his case is too different than ChiBitCTy.
I don't think he got a signature ban, and I think his ban for plagiarism was more or less a mistake.

Probably the wrong place for this post but ........ I'm surprised that when a user is banned it's not "scarlet lettered" BANNED on his/her profile (like in the spot where their rank would be posted).  In the case of gift card scammers in Digital Goods section who have been banned their posts generally remain and since they were locked anyway they continue to scam on Telegram or whatever they were using..

It's been suggested before, but unfortunately wasn't implemented.

I'd have thought it's a no brainer.
What's the reasoning behind not implementing it?

In one of my threads the moderator Xal0lex said that the following users are banned:
1) Nasakioto
2) niknik1966
3) pitipawn
4) SeverusSnegg
5) TERA2

Although BPIP does not indicate that they are banned. These users may have been manually blocked.

theymos has previously said "No" to "A publicly displayed 'banned' rank under a person's username for permabanned accounts" in this post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4893744.msg44432901#msg44432901, but he did not elaborate his reasoning.

I tend to agree actually. For the same reason we don't show trust on every board, because otherwise you would be biased against posts made by users with red trust when their trust is perhaps not relevant to the topic being discussed, seeing a BANNED tag under their name would similarly prejudice everyone against those posts. Being banned doesn't automatically invalidate everything the user has posted, and there have been a couple of high profile cases in which a good users with many great and helpful posts were banned for plagiarism.

What I would be in favor of is displaying a BANNED tag to top reporters, much as it is displayed to mods. I know I have wasted plenty of time investigating suspected plagiarism, only to discover the user was already banned anyway. Perhaps once you get 5000 good reports, you get to see banned users.
