Hi all, we added Fluttercoin to MintPal as our market choice today. It is nice to see something new in a coin!

The market is now live, happy trading Smiley

nope the transactions to mintpal went through within 5 minutes meaning blocks are being found.

Blocks sometimes take much longer than a hour guys, especially as the global hashrate moves up.
"Time Since Last Block" means the time past since the last block was FOUND, not the network time for the blocks.
You can't expect to get a block every hour, its really unreasonable considering how many people are trying to hash this.

Soon - wasn't at the top of the list with the issues but I am actually trying to work on the kinks to build it as I type...  I had to rent a Mac

not stuck - on a pool that just means time since last time the pool found a block (if i remember correctly)

You've seen that doge has had to move to static rewards to combat multipools gaming the system, are you planing on removing random rewards?
They are really abuseable and beyond pointless when you really think about it for POW blocks.

With the price that the coin now is on mintpal and bter, it is very likely that profit switching pools start targeting it.
At that point they will only be targeting the random blocks with the highest values because they are predictable, and any actual pools that are purely for fluttercoin will get screwed out of large amounts of coin.
Would be wonderful to hear others opinion on this, but I am sure this is very likely to happen very soon, especially if this gets added to coinmarketcap.

Do all coins that have pseudo-random block rewards use the same mechanism that DOGE used to calculate the reward? To put it another way, is FLT susceptible to the same exploitation in the same manner?

Dev: Have you considered changing the title of the thread to advertise PoW/PoS/PoT and now Mintpal listed?
I'm pretty certain this one is being calculated in the exact same way, using the last blockhash to get the random amount.

Could always switch to Adaptive N-Factor and avoid multipools altogether instead of trying to mitigate them.
Please no, people want to use literal scrypt, not N-Factor.
All N-Factor does is make it more complicated for people to mine your coin as there is way less availability for the software. (People like what they are using currently, cgminer, minerd, bfgminer, etc).
It also removes ASIC users as it is a different algo than the scrypt ASIC are targeting. Removing ASIC users really makes no sense in the first place.

freaks people out cause the hashrate is ~40-50% of vanilla... why not stick with SHA-256... No N-factor multipool exists yet (publicly?)...
This is exactly what I'm saying, it alienates a large amount of your userbase because they already spent days(the crazy amount of people that joined cryptocurrencies in general due to dogecoin, which is scrypt, is astonishing) learning how to use scrypt(why use scrypt in the first place according to your argument, just stick to bitcoin.), now you want them to use something else that they have no clue about.

I hate to say it about new users to crypto, but critical thinking is already hard when it comes to people using and understanding these cryptocurrencies, most people don't even understand how pools work(last few pages you can see people asking why it took more than a *hour* to get a block), and wont even READ the FAQ on a pool page.

Multipools will appear, if they arent already there (at one point yesterday there was randomly over 8gh on the network for about 10 minutes, this was definitely a multipool) and it will be just as bad as scrypt.
ASICs will come out for Scrypt-N eventually, just like we had to wait this long for them to come for Scrypt..

It all seems like a rather pointless move when LOTS of people love Scrypt to just start the cycle of moving algorithms once again just because you think this algorithm is going to be "stale" or something.

We aim to maintain the steady consistent growth that FLT has been showing and not have this coin used as a pump and dump scheme. Not many altcoins have provide innovation and posses an active community/developers like we do. Exchanges, payment processors, merchants, etc. will inevitably come as they start to see the level of true support FLT has and not just people supporting it because "its going to the moon."

If MintPal adding our coin without asking does not 100% prove my point about people taking notice to a innovative, community-driven coin then I don't know what does. Keep up the hard work everyone and we will continue to be successful.

P.s.-  If you'd like to join the Fluttercoin Community Development Team please PM me, we'd love to have you!

ASICs will come out for Scrypt-N eventually, just like we had to wait this long for them to come for Scrypt..

This will largely depend on the "N" factor. If the increase in memory requirements outpaces the length of time an ASIC for Scrypt-N are profitable then making ASIC's will not be cost effective. You cant just add more memory to an ASIC. ASIC's for Scrypt-N will have a short shelf life based on the schedule.
