Need to stop thinking BTC is an investment, but rather start using it for what it was meant to be, a "Peer-to-Peer Currency".

Mass adoption will help drive the price higher.
Even if it will change the course of the prices but it will be easy to control by the whales and we might still in the dip after that. Right now, people are getting impatient every day about of when would the market going to starts pumping because 12 months was too much for them already.

Because of previous dump, whales are becoming more powerful and for sure they will continue to manipulate. People are panicking because they easily listen to the fud news and they don’t even make any research before they panic. This is not boring yet, we just started the year you can still achieve your goal if you play patiently.

as I said before if the price of bitcoin in 2019 will tend to be stable and there won't be any surprises, of course this is very boring. it seems like to restore investor confidence is very difficult  Cry

Maybe their prediction is not happen but if we have prediction or goal we need to increase that bitcoin value. There is no boring year for the bitcoin because everytime they have excitent that you need to feel even the value decrease because you can buy more bitcoin with  much price is lower. Remember this year is only first month and we have 11 months to go and let we see what happen.

The market is looking so boring this year

Bakkt is a joke.
Bitcoin ETF is political.

On the market prediction side:

Tom Lee is a joke
Arthur Hayes is a joke
Mike Novogratz is a joke
Changpeng Zhao is calm
John McAfee is a psycho
Jamie Dimon is laughing

And we are all panic, no more pretending now Smiley
What we all gonna do now? I failed all my goals 2018. I don't want to fail this year too.

What is your advice, guys?

It is indeed boring, but I've expected this to happen. You're absolutely right on the analysts being absolute jokes though.

Unlike people who predicted bitcoin to completely reverse in terms of market sentiment as well as the overall price trajectory in 2019, I thought and still hold the belief that it is highly unlikely any recovery of major scale would happen this year, especially during the first half of the year. This is because I do not see any major events occuring this year that would drive prices up, and previous bear markets have lasted longer than the time it took from the ATH in 2017 to right now.

Sideways movement is expected this year. Even though people are hyping up ETFs still (have died down in recent days though), it is highly unlikely that an approval is in sight any time soon. And despite institutional interest, because the market sentiment is so bearish, it barely matters as investors are all emotional.

If you're a long term investor, or using bitcoin simply as a hedge against inflation, fiat, or diversifying your portfolio with an independent currency, then you shouldn't be worried whatsoever. I'd say you only need to worry if you are trading on leverage, or can only hold your position for a short period of time.

it is a very brilliant idea, if you sell now you will be very sorry later after seeing the price of bitcoin rise very high. I don't know when that will happen, but it will definitely happen.

It's wise to invest only amounts you can afford to lose, but considering it lost after investing shows an apathy towarads the investment.
It makes it easier, to handle losses of you are less attached emotionally. And also makes it easier make major decisions.

This is a good time to learn more about digital technology and explore the industry. This opens more opportunities to earn.

How can it be boring? Learn about shorts and life will be full again. Regarding no major events, that actually remains to be seen. A lot of people in the first half of 2017 couldn't even imagine that by the end of the year Bitcoin will be worth almost 20k. Just like there are black swans, there are also white swans, and the latter are by far more common

Also, you somehow overlooked the spread of Lightning Network. If it is released into the mainnet officially, you can expect a lot of noise and hype with prices skyrocketing and for a good reason. That is going to be your major event that will drive prices up, and it is kinda set in stone (even though its exact date is not)

Other than that, I hands down agree with you on the analysts part

That SEC and ETF was meant for mass adoption but turned all these to a mess. Each county has its own laws to deal cryptocurrencies. All these are the result to achieve adoption, I think we  are heading that way. Price had dip low for now but we get to use BTC as currency still.

I agree not sure why the OP thinks 2019 will be boring. Bottoming out phase is perfect time to accumulate, by late in the year we'll likely be in the very early stages of the next bull market. BAKKT and other Wall St institutions will have created a market for big money players. Likely though it will still be relatively small this year and take a while to grow and for lots of institutions to start buying into Bitcoin, still though that is exciting if you want the price to rise.

LN has been growing for the past year and I bet by end of this year we'll see major improvements and be getting it close to being friendly for the average person. Though I don't know what you mean by on the mainnet officially. It's been on the mainnet for a year. There isn't going to be some specific date when they say "hey ok its ready to use", it'll just keep getting updated and be more stable and usable as time goes on. There is never going to be an officially release date when they say its ready to  use by anyone.

Bitcoin ETF very well could happen this year. Though if it does I think it'll be probably like in the Fall, don't think it'll be approved next month.

I bet this year will be exciting for bitcoin in terms of upward price movement later in the year and continued progress in the technology as well as the ecosystem being built around it.

It's a remedy for those who complain about feeling bored

On the other hand, it had been the only strategy since the beginning of 2018 that would have given you consistent profits if followed properly. Which proves that the best strategy to trade is not to buy the fucking dips and catch falling knives but steadily and consistently follow the trend. Indeed, trend is your friend, at least until it turns around and stabs you in the back. But then stop-losses are your second-best friends forever

In 2018 it was indeed a difficult year and it was a year of failure to make a profit, but failure did not have to be used as a reference to predict the same failure in 2019. This is still in early 2019 and is too fast to declare failure in 2019, I still believe in 2019 there will be hope and crypto opportunities will rise.

Those who think they failed last year are the ones "who expected" too much about the outcome of the price.

Surely most of you expect that another ATH or some bullish activity will hit at the last quarter of 2018. How come some people just buy that positive prediction without thinking of the term "chances" and "possibility". And now that their expectations didn't reached, they are now in confused what to do. I myself is positive but Im not worried at all to the 2018 outcome. There are lots of years to come.

What people must do is, despite of the failure (as they say) , targets didn't reached, price expectation fails etc. just continue the usual accumulation because after all, it has lots of advantages at any means. And when time comes that strong "bullish activity" now enter the scene, you will feel the effort you did in terms of accumulation.

I will gladly take boring over scary Smiley.

2018 looked really scary, not at first maybe but even in the first months of 2018 we have seen bitcoin going down, it wasn't expected to go as low as 3200 which eventually we reached and was really horrible but it showed sights of bad market even at the early stage.

Right now, 2019 is just 14 days old and after 2 weeks we can't really say bitcoin is boring or market is boring since its just 2 weeks old but even with the first 2 weeks of 2019 compared the 2 weeks of 2018 we look like we are moving up and down between the same numbers and even if we do not go above 5-6 thousand dollars like some people suggests I would rather stay between 3.4-4.2 thousand dollars for a whole year rather than going down 80% from the peak. That way even tough we won't be making too much money we won't at least lose all of our money.

You see the bitcoin price movements only in 2017, please see the price movements of the Bitcoin in the previous year. And maybe this forum is already accustomed to discussions like this, market boring, bitcoin will die and etc. I only see every person who has a high rank such as a Legendary Member or Hero Member they do not mind the decline in the price of bitcoin, they will always suggest to everyone to keep holding and never sell in a state of loss. I think that suggestion can be considered, most of them have experienced this kind of thing repeatedly.

As far as I know, using LN is not recommended at this moment

It is still considered in the beta phase, so people are using it on their own account and taking the risks of losing their money due to bugs in its current implementation. Obviously, we should expect a boost in its use when it is officially declared production-ready, though I'm not sure as to when this day will come and whether it will come at all taking into account that Bitcoin itself is still considered to be in an experimental phase

Yeah, but my point is there will never be a day when they announce it is officially ready to use. They've even said this, I remember LN developers saying this early last year, there will be no declaration of being production-ready.

It will continuously be in development, gaining features and become safer and easier to use. Once it has enough features and safe and friendly enough wallets so that it can be used by the average person with essentially no technical knowledge of bitcoin and LN then it could be considered ready for mass use, but that won't be a certain day in the future with some official production-ready announcement, it'll just gradually happen and more and more people will jump on board. It's on the mainnet, it can be used by anyone, and over time it will get easier to use. There's no release version in which it will move from beta to production-ready.

But anyway, I get your point that when its safe and easy enough for the average person that'll be huge and hopefully once merchants find it easy to use they will start adding it as a payment method. LN will only take off once major merchants adopt it.

'' Your deposit should be as much as you can risk ''. In my opinion you are gonna be more successful when you try to trade with this way. Otherwise, your psychology will lead to loss and regret. You can give yourself the right decision right now, there is no one to know your situation better than you. Maybe it is better to withdraw some of amount.
