They can completely get rid of their addiction. This is not a gimmick. What is difficult it starting it - people cant stop themselves from gambling and often there is the need of diversion. They need to divert their mind to other possibly constructive work that they find interest in and continue spending their time in it. With gradual progress that person who was an addict will forget that they ever wanted to gamble.

This seems easy in words but those who are addicted can actually try these methods to reduce their time and money spent on gambling. About 95% of those that keeps gambling or betting after some heavy loses was due to the desire to make profits and cover the past loses and not for fun.  I don't think it possible for one to be able to make fun with losing.
