It is, with so many exchanges in the market right now, competing to be a decentralized exchange, we will have a new wave of the market coming up, this is something that we need right now, with so many hacking going on and happening right now.

The rate at which some projects are now going for decentralized exchanges is gradually on the increase.
Also, considering how centralized exchanges are subject to hack, this does not really happen when it comes to decentralized exchange, except with the issue of Etherdelta that was compromised sometimes ago. Yet decentralization is the most preferable, because you would have full control over your assets.

The CEO of Binance said exactly what he needed for people to hear, but in general I agree that decentralized exchanges have more advantages!

It is not really that easy to advertise a decentralized exchange. First of all there is no central place for it that could advertise it, there is no money like the central exchanges make so there is no costs but no profits neither which means there is no budget for it as well. I mean decentralized exchanges have only one chance to actually get bigger and that is going viral.

If one of them goes viral and gets heard by many people and get a lot of users, that could bring attention to it, aside from that there is really no way of getting bigger without spending money. Of course some person may start one and spend a ton of money from their own pocket without caring about profits and than can make it get it heard but that's really unlikely to happen to begin with. So, I doubt any of them will get any bigger in 2019 because its unlikely but if it happens it will happen all of a sudden and not slowly.

I hope so. There are a lot of dexes based on bitshares (+ waves dex + forkdelta + others) but the convenience and performance of such solutions is very questionable. Plus all of them are full of shitcoins and there are no really legit and reliable DEX yet.

I hope so. There are a lot of dexes based on bitshares (+ waves dex + forkdelta + others) but the convenience and performance of such solutions is very questionable. Plus all of them are full of shitcoins and there are no really legit and reliable DEX yet.

The performance in decentralized exchange is really what make people avoid it, too many flaw and error however if they could eventually develop it to the point where it is nearly flawless and fast enough to compete with centralized exchange, I'm pretty sure people will be switching over.

I heard it a year ago. In 2017-2018 had appeared first decentralized exchanges, like idex. I don't find any changes in my trading. The same functions and operations. I think 2019 will be a year of something more impressive.

I hope so. But now the problem is Crypto becoming unpopular for decreasing its price. Crypto going to Valueless, people getting disappointed. They expecting a better value but that's not happening. 2018 was a frustrating year, so hope 2019 will be best.

If you are unaware, this has been a thing. The majority of ICO's during the final months of 2018 were for DEXs, Binance and Huobi are both creating DEXs to be launched in a few months. This is definitely going to be a major area of focus upcoming, we are seeing a dynamic shift in terms of the meaning of decentralization; it's essentially has become a re-focus for many upcoming projects.

DEX's will ultimately control/handle more volume than CEX in the coming years, due to regulations and most of what the creator of this thread expressed.

It's going to be and the strong reason is the recent hacked on Cryptopia, people want full security and they want transparency also because so many exchanges are manipulating the volume to pump a certain coin which is not good in the industry.

We have seen lots of hack in various exchange including the recent cryptopia hack. People will get bored and loss faith in centralized exchange and will start using decentralized exchange from now if available. So, in 2019, there will be more  decentralized exchange and those will be flourish so fastly from now on.

Centralized exchanges are not a safe place to store your crypto, better to have your private key and trade on a decentralized exchange. For example, on Saturn Network we allow wallet to wallet trading in one transaction this way you never lose control of your funds.

I do not understand how centralized authority (Binance) could create some decentralized solution? Currently there are only 2 true decentralized cryptocurrencies  - Bitcoin and Grin. Everything else was created by a group of team that hold majority of tokens/coins/power.

Of course, the emergence of more decentralized exchanges will reduce the number of hacks. But at the same time decentralized exchanges will not be able to give you a 100% guarantee of security, although they have a number of advantages over centralized sites. 2019 may pass under the sign of DEX and security tokens, but I still advise you to take care of the security of your coins and keep them on a cold wallet.

Decentralized exchange will be with the future of crypto but not the only future of crypto. There is another exchange known as centralized exchange. Decentralized and centralized exchange will be together promoting and servicing the people in crypto space as long as they can. There's no way to stop a hack, there's no system that is unhackable, every system have its weakness, Decentralized exchange will be no brainer if the exchange is good and can compete with centralized exchange, if not then we wouldn't see it on the future.

In my opinion, i think that 2019 will be the future of Dapp. The Dex will need more time to replace CEX.

In my opinion, high-quality decentralized exchanges may well save the situation, because all large and medium exchanges require paying huge fees for listing tokens, which does not allow a huge number of projects to enter the market, but decentralized exchanges may have liquidity problems.
