Yes, I am absolutely sure that during the year 2019 we will see a boom of new decentralized exchanges. The need for such exchanges is enormous. Take for example the most popular stock exchange at the moment - IDEX - it processes huge numbers of transactions every second! These are the exchanges we need and the more the better!

Yes i think dex or decentralized exchanges will become more and more important in coming months and years especially after increasing incidents of centralized exchanges being hacked and funds being stolen plus other issues like late deposits and withdrawals or missing transactions. It may not cause you a major changes in your trading but if you look at the security level, its better compare to centralized exchange since you have the control over your wallet. There might be no significant changes in the past years, but hopefully this year we can see now a more established decentralize exchange that prevent the hacking incidents just like what happen to cryptopia recently.

Dex is a solution to avoid such a hacked case, remember when forkdelta was getting hacked and the hot wallet still safe means if hacker can' t even access the wallet. DEX is our future exchange site. No more regulation and fake volume and manipulation.

DEX offers to people for a safer way in keeping their assets. People who are afraid on their assets to hack should give attention to DEX. Since DEX can minimize hack cases, I am sure it will be prioritized to be the better places for traders. So, it is very possible if 2019 will be the year of DEX.

the part about "impossible to hack" is a challenge in itself, the claim without evidence is a big lie. It would be better if they held such a hacking competition for the decentralized exchange and if indeed they were successful, then it could be claimed as their benefits. I think even the old exchanges still have some issues with securities and we just can't make a trust with a new one.

OP is right, as long as you don't have the private keys, you don't control your funds. Well,  normally we are using decentralized exchange but lately a centralized exchange firm were now going to operate which have a complicated step before you can proceed for trading , where for me is not in align with crypto currencies  .

The exchange is very much now and some certainly have a very good system. The exchange of decentralization must indeed be safe and easy to transact. The Dex exchange is very good and I think for 2019 this will be better.

It is, with so many exchanges in the market right now, competing to be a decentralized exchange, we will have a new wave of the market coming up, this is something that we need right now, with so many hacking going on and happening right now.

Also, considering how centralized exchanges are subject to hack, this does not really happen when it comes to decentralized exchange, except with the issue of Etherdelta that was compromised sometimes ago. It is not really that easy to advertise a decentralized exchange. First of all there is no central place for it that could advertise it, there is no money like the central exchanges make so there is no costs but no profits neither which means there is no budget for it as well. I mean decentralized exchanges have only one chance to actually get bigger and that is going viral.

If one of them goes viral and gets heard by many people and get a lot of users, that could bring attention to it, aside from that there is really no way of getting bigger without spending money. Of course some person may start one and spend a ton of money from their own pocket without caring about profits and than can make it get it heard but that's really unlikely to happen to begin with. I hope so. There are a lot of dexes based on bitshares (+ waves dex + forkdelta + others) but the convenience and performance of such solutions is very questionable. Plus all of them are full of shitcoins and there are no really legit and reliable DEX yet.

The performance in decentralized exchange is really what make people avoid it, too many flaw and error however if they could eventually develop it to the point where it is nearly flawless and fast enough to compete with centralized exchange, I'm pretty sure people will be switching over.

If you are unaware, this has been a thing. The majority of ICO's during the final months of 2018 were for DEXs, Binance and Huobi are both creating DEXs to be launched in a few months. This is definitely going to be a major area of focus upcoming, we are seeing a dynamic shift in terms of the meaning of decentralization; it's essentially has become a re-focus for many upcoming projects.

There's no way to stop a hack, there's no system that is unhackable, every system have its weakness, Decentralized exchange will be no brainer if the exchange is good and can compete with centralized exchange, if not then we wouldn't see it on the future.

I agree that we need more decentralized exchange in 2019. It does bring in some relief to the investor. We have seen exchanges closing down, being hacked and people losing their hard earned money. I don't know how they are doing it when they can afford fast servers.  Since the time from bitshares, openledger up to the time where etherdelta was up, its all slow that I have to move to my laptop just to see how much is the price of the token that isn't listed somewhere else but to such DEX. We already have so many decentralized exchanges and I don't think there is need for more. Some can still be scams. What if the server shuts down from the DEX service providers, you can still loose your funds.

Eventually people will be moving to decentralized exchange because the purpose of crypto is to decentralized everything.
The current set up now is not attractive, we've also seen a lot decentralized exchange get's hack or traders got phished on the wrong URL.
It will take time to develop and to satisfied clients but I'm sure one day they can find the best feature that would guarantee safety to users.
