Hello everyone!

I am currently working on an automated BTCitcoin mining farm.
As the power consume is pretty high I have built an automated system which will automatically cut the power of the miners when the batteries are low.
I used some smart plugs to do this. Let me know if there is a better solution than just cutting the power of the Antminers.

But back to my main question:
Every time I power the Antminers back on after auto shutdown, the Miner Configuration has been reset.
Is there any way to prevent that from happening?

Thanks in advance  Cheesy

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

Antminer doesn't have a button to shutdown the miner so cutting the power is fine.

But back to my main question:

I don't know which command or script you are using to automate the shutdown process of the miner. Can you share it to us so that we can review and maybe your config is wrong.

There is some other tools that I know can automate the shutdown process but it can only stop the miner from mining operation and it still needs to shutdown the miner manually or by turning of the power. Check this tool from here [Awesome Miner] - Powerful Windows GUI to manage and monitor up to 200000 miners

And you can find the guide from here automate the tasks Guide

Hello everyone!

I am currently working on an automated BTCitcoin mining farm.
As the power consume is pretty high I have built an automated system which will automatically cut the power of the miners when the batteries are low.

why not just run the number of miners your system can handle? why all the trouble?

I used some smart plugs to do this. Let me know if there is a better solution than just cutting the power of the Antminers.

there is no better solution, you could keep the miner running and not mining. but it will still consume some power.

But back to my main question:
Every time I power the Antminers back on after auto shutdown, the Miner Configuration has been reset.
Is there any way to prevent that from happening?

it's probably the way you "auto-shutdown" your miners, you are most likely re-setting them, the only ssh command that is used to "shutdown" miners is

Code:
poweroff

this as mentioned above will stop the miner from hashing, but AFAIK the fans will always spin.

so i am pretty sure your script has got something wrong in it, probaby a "reset" command.

also i don't understand why do you need to shutdown your miner with a software if you are using smart plugs, just kill the power, miners will shutdown competently.

you can actually either use a smart MCB or even use those smart plugs on a contractor that shuts down the main CB that your miners are connected to. there is tons of ways to do this, but IMO is not necessary, i'd suggest to run miners that your power allows you to only and non-stop .

i have noticed that these antminers don't like going on and off , they do better in passive state.

I don't use any script to shut them down. I just cut the power but they reset anyways.

ok this is strange, what miners are those? and what do you mean by "they reset" the pool settings go back to bitmain workers?

edit:

found this

Issue: Miner restores to factory setting after powering off.

Reason:The software in BB board is damaged.

Solution: Perform control board recovery

source > https://support.bitmain.com/hc/en-us/articles/220872007-Possible-problems-and-solutions-for-S7-S9-fixed-frequency-L3-

you going to need an SD card to flush the software , and steps are quite easy , just follow this guide > https://support.bitmain.com/hc/en-us/articles/360007577214-T9-Control-Board-Program-Recovery

if you face any issue during the process, post it here.

It seems that your reset button is shorted that is why it keeps resetting to factory default.

Check the reset hole and maybe there is something stuck on the reset hole or if you can disassemble the miner and then check the reset button and maybe it has moist or the reset terminal has full of dirt? Solution: Use a thinner and brush and then keep pressing the reset button while the thinner hasn't dried yet.

I hope this method works. However, if still persist post the kernel logs here and maybe we can find the issue there.

Your IP report button might be stuck too. If you hold it down when booting it will reset.

Ignore scammers on Skype, Telegram, etc. I will only ever contact you via forum PMs. See profile for fingerprint.

I checked the Control board and it had no dirt or moist on it, there was nothing that could lead to a short circuit.
So I replaced the Control board with an other one which I had and everything worked fine.

I think the solution will be to perform a control board recovery as mikeywith said.

I'll keep you updated  Smiley

You can use Braiins OS and have the ability to overclock/undervolt your miners if you have any S9 variant.

You also have the option to use crontab for timer based overclock/undervolt profiles too.

Here is what I suggested to another user for crontab profiles with Braiins OS.

please post an update on the situation so that others can benefit from it , the main purpose of this forum is to stop inventing the wheel.
