Satoshi did a very great job in the design of Bitcoin which for me is the only coin in the space with potential to serve this purpose effectively but the use of BTC as a store of value could have effect on its use as a payment tool in future that is why we need more economist to enter the space and help with the design of Crytocurrencies because 99% of what we have in the space now are just a carbon-copy of BTC  design and not improvement on what we have.

Well, that was the main reason why Bitcoin or Cryptocurrency was created. To be an alternative mode of payment to.all transactions and it is already happening right now. The usefulness and convenient is the one they are working right now. Transactions were really fast and convenient. You don't need to carry anything except your mobile phone to pay for your transactions or a crypto debit card. Bitcoin is still the best.
