Former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff has been appointed the new head coach of Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League (BBL).

Flintoff was confirmed as Trevor Bayliss's replacement on Tuesday (June 2). This will be his first overseas coaching role, having already been at the helm of Northern Superchargers in The Hundred, taking them to two top-four finishes from the bottom of the table. He also coached the England Lions team on their recent tours and served as a consultant to England's white-ball teams under Matt Mott in 2023/24.

The 48-year-old has agreed to a two-year contract with the Sydney-based team and is said to have beaten competition from Shane Watson and Dan Christian to take up the role.

I was not aware of Andrew Flintoff's coaching experience. After retirement from Cricket due to his injuries, he took up boxing, which was very surprising and won a professional match and then retired after just one fight. For a long time he was away from the public eye due to some personal issues.

I always felt that Andrew Flintoff did not perform to his true potential in his career. I still remember his debut ODI match against Pakistan, where he was an average bowler but scored an impressive debut half century in a losing effort. It then took him 3 years to score any meaningful runs, and that too was against India.

His transition from a very mediocre player to an extraordinary phenomenon was really surprising. He started focusing on his batting from 2003 onwards, and by 2004, he began to impress with his bowling as well. Watching his bowling speed increase from 130 to 135 km/h to over 145 to 150 km/h was an incredible and surprising transformation.

I wish he would continue the same spirit in his coaching career. 🏆

By the way, I think it was the good luck of the Ireland women or the bad luck of the West Indies women because after setting the target of 141 runs, they were bowling well, and due to the DLS method, they won. Otherwise, it would have been challenging to win if there had been no rain. Looks like Sky is all set to lose his captaincy in the T20 format which is the right call, but I don't think he should be removed from the squad all together because he has won multiple trophies over the years(Some as a captain and some under others).

Iyer or Patidar are good options for his replacements, but braindead Gambhir has issues with Iyer which is why Patidar or his favorite(Gill) could replace him. Would be epic if Vaibhav waltzed into the lineup somehow since he is in peak form currently.

Yes, WI-W team looked very strong against Pakistan-W team but against Ireland-W they gave very weak target and lost game due to poor effort. Today, there was also game between Pakistan-W and WI-W but it was interrupted during play and was eventually ended with no result. In 4 th game if this series, WI-W batted poor and made 144 runs target in 20 overs by losing 8 wickets. Ireland team closely beated WI-W team and won this 4 th game by 1 runs (DLS Method). Orla player got player of game award and she deserved this title because her effort and contribution was very helpful and first in bowling, she took down 2 wickets in 4 overs and gave 26 runs. In batting, she made brilliant half century total 71 runs in 46 balls and hitted eleven 4s and one 6s. Congratulations Ireland-W team won this Tri Nation series game.

Anyone looking the stats of Scotland Women Tri Nation Series. Three matches already been played and surprisingly Bangladesh Women team has lost both of their matches. And Scotland Women team is playing well and they are on top of the table for now. Scotland has the home advantage but their performance is also very good. According to the current situation I think Scotland Women team will win this Tri Nation Series easily.
By the way today is the fourth match of this series where Bangladesh Women team and Scotland Women team will face eachother. And again I think Scotland will win this match.

By playing first Netherlands Women team scored 162 runs and lost 5 wickets. In starting they played well and built a good partnership as they lost starting two wickets then could not recover the loss and scored less runs and used more balls. So they gave average total for chasing. On the other hand opponent team played more poor batting than the Netherlands women team team. They bowled well but in batting line they could not showed well runs. In Bangladesh Women team just two players showed responsible performance remaining other players showed shameful performance. Since it was lowest total so they should chased it in every situation and they could did this but they tried poorly and lost the match.
