Wow! Iyer is officially set to become the T20 India captain and probably might take up the ODI mantle too from Gill later. I did not see this coming at all considering the board having issues with him, but his recent stats and fan support changed their minds.

Feel sad to see Sky getting pushed out of the squad most probably even though it's deserving. Excited for Iyer and Vaibhav in the T20 lineup.

Nepal, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Oman have qualified for the 2026 Asian Games men's cricket competition, to be held in Japan in September-October. Nepal and Malaysia topped Group A while Hong Kong and Oman were at the top of Group B of the qualifying tournament in Singapore.

Nepal, who played the T20 World Cup earlier this year, defeated China by 221 runs to start their campaign. They posted 313 for 2 with opener Kushal Bhurtel smashing a 43-ball 129. In the process, they became the first team with multiple 300-plus totals in men's T20 cricket. Nepal then beat Malaysia by 167 runs with Bhurtel scoring another century in the team's total of 275 for 7.

With Qatar, part of their group, withdrawing before the start of the tournament, Nepal secured the top spot by virtue of the two wins.

The sixth match of this series has just ended, where Ban Women has showed a strong all round performance to defeat NedW by 13 runs in the Scotland Women's Tri-Series. Everything was good enough till BanW played two overs but suddenly the match reduced to 8 overs due to rain affect. That's why BanW has to adapted better to the shortened format and afterwards the opening players provided an aggressive start, so that they could build early momentum and put pressure on the Ned bowlers specially Dilara Akter half century helped a lot. And when NedW turn started, Ban bowlers showed the excellent discipline as they knew that their each delivery carried extra importance in this match. The Ned batters started well enough but later they struggled to maintain the required scoring rate and gradually losing momentum maybe for extra pressure. This victory was really needed after Bangladesh's lost two matches earlier. Overall, BanW looked confidant this time, hope it could encourage them to accept difficult challenges in the upcoming matches.

Though the target was sufficiently good and the overs were not long enough, it was a very good and big achievement of the Bangladesh Women. This is the latest evidence of Bangladesh Women work hard at a very high level in this Scotland 2026 series. This was good in favor of Bangladesh Women, which made the target of 98 runs their victory otherwise they would hard have had a strong target in 20 overs. There, too, Netherlands Women were strong, but they fall short in a lot of places. If they had worked hard the target could have been achieved. If their batsmen had not been careless about the wickets, then their target could have been achieved. Yesterday in the game between West Indies Women and Pakistan Women, when the Pakistan innings was almost about to end, the match got canceled due to the rain. And there was no result, but I think it was good for Pakistan as they had already lost the game. The way they were batting, they lost 7 wickets in the 16th over and scored just 111 runs; of course, it would be a one-sided game for West Indies Women, but today Pakistan has to face another challenge and the opponent is Ireland women, who recently beat them.

Yes in 20 overs crossing 300 runs is an amazing result and one that we may not see for long while now. Extreme hitting skills along with highest concentration was needed to score at that great pace making full heavy attacks over opposition bowlers. And yes it is match won by one superstar player on that one day, but big trophies can only be won if team is supported by 11 players. Such result by this historic flood of runs from smaller side is proof of fact that smaller sides in cricket are improving at fast pace and are ready to face the bigger sides in upcoming ICC tournaments.

Before selection, Floating up and down only comes if you really want to fit someone, in a long run its not good for team environment because for one player you are ignoring set template. During match changing batting slot is different.

Also, we shouldn't compare Tilak, Dube with Sanju, SKY. Tilak atm bats at 5 or 6 as floater and Dube is fixed in the middle order. On the other hand, the latter duo is top order combination. Point is batting slot is critical and selection should be based on it, otherwise playing XI will end up with 4-5 openers.

They should not play with Ishan Kishan again. He took a lot to reach where he is now and I hope the same thing doesn't happen again. If there is no place for Gill then that's it, and they even took the brave decision in WC, and it turned out to be a good choice so no need to change the lanes now just because of IPL.

India should focus on building the team for next T20 WC and ignore the other formats, we should have specialized players on their batting position instead of picking them and trying to fit in. I hope Patidar get a chance somewhere, though.

In that case, Gill can't be accommodated anywhere. He should either bat as an opener or as no.3. Any position in the middle order is not suitable for him. That means once SKY is booted out, India will continue with the same middle order combination (given Shreyas is named as the captain). Dube had a horrible IPL season BTW. I am not 100% certain that the selectors will retain him. Anyway, the official BCCI announcement can be expected by today afternoon. They may announce separate squads for both the Ireland T20Is and for the series in England.

In a move questioned by the tournament's franchises, ILT20 has stipulated that all six teams will need to recruit a minimum of four players from Afghanistan and one from Ireland in their squads from the 2026 season. ILT20 has also told franchises that playing XIs will need to include a minimum of two players each from Afghanistan and UAE and one from an Associate nation.

ILT20 has said while the squad should comprise a minimum of 21 and a maximum of 23 players, teams will also need to fulfil the following minimum requirements in the squad composition: 11 players from 12 Full Member countries, four UAE players (including at least one capped player and at least one Under-23 player) , two players from the Gulf Cooperation Council comprising six countries (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain) and one player from an Associate (not UAE, Saudi or Kuwait). Dube ji performed in last 2 t20 wc and become clutch batter for India and had many impacted cameo so he's here to stay despite dodgy IPL season.

The Women's World Cup is all about to start in the next few days and that's why for the practice of the team, the warm up matches has been started where the players can open their potential and feel motivated to win the World Cup. They are able to understand their mistakes here or whatever. Since there are so many essential games and they carry useful information for analysis for the game in the World Cup, the teams need to perform as if it's a do-or-die battle.

How can they ignore other formats when ODI World Cup is scheduled for October to November 2027, and the T20 World Cup is scheduled to take place in 2028. If you are suggesting about a separate squad for every format, then that is fine, as India has a deep talent pool to choose from. 

I am not sure why Bhuvneshwar Kumar is not included in any format and there are other youngsters that impressed during the IPL and hopefully bowlers like Kartik Tyagi, Sakib Hussain, Anshul Kamboj and Mohsin Khan get opportunity in the national team. Finally, Prince Yadav was included in the squad for the upcoming series and hope he gets the opportunity rather than warming the bench.

To be honest I don't feel anything about Sky being left out of the team. In my opinion he has been one of the most disappointing players in India's ODI and T20 squads. In the tournaments that India won, his contribution was nathing. The only player I feel sorry for is Shreyas Iyer. He truly deserves a place in the Indian team. He has been one of India's most consistent performers and is  the best middle order batsman in the country right now and he should definitely be a part of Indias squad.

In this match the Nepal team was playing against the Malaysian team in which the Nepal team set a very good target in 20 over. Both these teams are from Group A.The previous match was between the teams from Group D.If you look at it the Malaysian team scored only 108 run while the target set for their opponent was 275 runs. Their team could not even score half a run against them. This is because the first two players of the Nepal team, whose performance was really amazing Kushal Bhurtel he alone scored 126 run and Aasif Sheikh scored 68 run.If you look at it a total of seven of their players were out. These two players were on the opening pitch and they laid the foundation of the match. Such a good target was set and pressure was created on the other team. Syed Aziz is the voice player who scored 54 runs, otherwise everyone else just came and got out.

Yesterday New Zealand Women and Bangladesh Women faced each other where NZW won by a huge margin. In this match NZW batted first and I said that if NZW can score 160 plus then they will win but in the end they scored a huge score of 193 runs. Where Bangladesh Women managed to score 125 runs and lost by a huge margin of 68 runs. The performance of BANW batsmen in this match was very bad. Except Nahida Akter and Juairiya Ferdous, all the other batsmen had strike rates below 100 which was very disappointing.

It is clear here that Bangladesh will not be able to do well in the main stage because they will have to play against Australia Women and India Women and South Africa Women where Bangladesh Women will not be able to win.

This match was I think a big wakeup call for the defense plans and fielding discipline of Pakistan. You simply cannot afford to allow key batters to get more than one life on the big stage and fielding placement or caught by the fielder will be the end in the real World Cup games. The batters played their part in scoring good total on the board but the bosses should look to make some immediate changes in the way the bowlers are bowled and in the fielding in the ring. Warm up losses are supposed to fix out those very weaknesses and Pakistan must fill these holes before the main test.

At the moment, there can be only one pace bowling allrounder in the playing XI. And for now, that spot goes to Nitish Kumar Reddy. Pandya had an average IPL season, and maybe he needs a break now. Other options are Venkatesh Iyer and Shardul Thakur, but they were not being considered. Still surprised with the inclusion of Samson in the squad. How many opportunities need to be given to this guy? And in case Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Abhishek Sharma opens the bat, with Ishan Kishan at the no.3 position, I can't imagine him getting a place in the XI.
