Yes, I've read it many times, but arguably moon math is not a feature of a coin.
I read somewhere - Lauda I think it was - that Grin would have been better off, if the Dev's weren't so greedy.
I can relate to that, maybe theymos warnings for $0.5 Grin had something to with that also.
Not many coins I know of have cratered like this after birth.

#

Hasn't been made for "Hodlers", more about owners of classical GPU mining rigs.

Yeah, still bashing my head for not keeping that 0.1BTC for 30 mined Grin or so, at the beginning of the year.
I had to reinvest itand more Tongue

The developers are greedy? No, the developers are trying to fix the greed advantage of early adopters through infinite emission. Anyone holding Grin is down in bitcoin and fiat.

@HairyMaclairy. $0.50 on December hehehe.

The developers are greedy? No, the developers are trying to fix the greed advantage of early adopters through infinite emission.

Alright, and how do they do that?
The coin's design is already there since the beginning, with it's inflation, emission & all.

How are the Dev's currently & actively helping Grin move forward? Shorting it 15 fold since it's birth run? Okay.
I don't believe you in the slightest there, sorry.

Anyone holding Grin is down in bitcoin and fiat.

No shit, I am Groot.

@HairyMaclairy. $0.50 on December hehehe.

Definitely a possibility now.
What makes you define $0.50 as an entry, instead of waiting for $0.05 Grin? What's your criteria?

I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass ... and I'm all out of bubblegum.

He is not as greedy as most people around here Smiley   He will fill his bags at $0.5 and the rest of us will wait until $0.05 that will never happen and stay bagless.

Dude, I don't blame anybody else but myself.
In fact I don't even blame myself. This is fine. Roll Eyes
It's a very small part of my holdings, so I'm gonna be alright, no matter what Grin does or not in the future.

I was genuinely asking if you know something that we don't - based on what you said just before.

I believe you will be even more fine in the future. Just patience. Percentage-wise, GRIN inflation would not be this big in few years.

Price was $0.9 and now is $1.2. That is over 30% increase in less then a week. And Bitcoin increased only few % in that time.   This is reason why new coins are so popular. They are so volatile and can make you rich or poor in a week.

Correct, this is what traders live for, right now you sell a chunk and short after a 30% increase and buy on the inverse.

I also find it wrong to blame the devs. Vitalik did a similar thing with eth. He had an idea and he couldn't wait to discuss it with the btc devs and btc devs wouldn't agree with him anyway so he created eth. That's how open source works.

You never need permission from anybody. GRIN devs used a tech nobody has ever did before so GRIN is unique in its own way.

Saying the devs dumped is retarded because they have Nothing to dump!

Right, no premine for Grin.
Well as far we know anyway, it's kinda difficult with a privacy coin.
That said, tx inputs and outputs in a Mimble Wimble block, make sure this can't happen - to the best of our knowledge (no 51% attack either).

But surely, Grin's Dev's are one of Grin's most active miners - since the first second Grin was alive.
And it's not a far stretch thinking of the Dev's applying Nicehash compatibility (or similar edge - custom ASIC) for themselves - before it went public a couple of months later.
In my thinking - this happens to every new coin to a certain extent. It is up to the Dev's how much of that mine they will dump to cover project costs.

Anyway, this is just my opinion, I'm not accusing anybody, and I'm not crying about my holdings.
I'm just speculating that Grin was dumped too much, and possibly the reason why.

meta post: To be fair, it's easy to point fingers at people, when including myself has dumped & re-bought Grin on several occasions.

The reason is Exceedingly simple and have been pointed out over and over ad nausium since before the coin was even launched.

IT is the Monetary policy and is a design decision!

Feel free to search my history for the key words "By Design".

Both GRIN and ETH devs brought something new to the table. I am not a fan of ETH at all. The shit ETH tries to create is vaporware and as far as I see it will never completely accomplish what the eth devs promised. I am not comparing them in regards of how practical/useful they are. But ETH took its chance anyway, just like GRIN did. That's all I am saying.

That's all I am saying.

kk, if thats the point you were making then thats fine. I just hate to see that scam shit Eth even metioned in the same breath as a decent project like this. And I see you feel similar. Wink

Wait, wat?

How can you compare ETH and Grin, did grin suddenly create a massive premine and miner/dev tax system i don't know about?

Lets not forget that Grin was well known about years before it was launched, this was not something that just popped up and was insta mined.

@Cryptotourist. You say you blame yourself, however, you certainly appear to be blaming the developers.

The keyword there, is "appear" - to blame. Tongue
In reality I'm not:

Dude, I don't blame anybody else but myself.
In fact I don't even blame myself. This is fine. Roll Eyes

If you understood and accepted Grin's monetary policy from the beginning you also would be waiting for $0.50 hehehe.

Oh you definitely got me there. Let's see.

Yeap. TBH I found out a few days before launch, and insta-fell-in-love with it. Grin
