People please avoid ponzi's like the plague.

Here is the very simple description of a ponzi:

a) Idiot hands over money to con artist.
b) con artist pays (for example) 1% interest weekly on your investment.
c) idiot decides he wants to compound his investment so interest is never collected.
d) Ponzi operator runs off with funds when investors ask for withdrawals.

Or the Other Method:

c) not quite an idiot collects 1% interest a week and tells everyone how great it is.
d) The ponzi operator can do 100 weeks of payouts before running into trouble, they usually will stop when they stop getting new investors.

Now I know there are many people that make the following claim: The trick is to get in and out early. and they are one of the 3 types:

1) shills - they never invested anything but claim they did and that the payments WERE FABULOUS.
2) idiots who think they will be  the first in and out.
3) idiots who were lucky enough to actually be 1 of the first in and out. Its the same as leaving your wallet/phone/camera with a random stranger on the corner of the street - yes sometimes they are honest but guess what, its terrible advice to give anyone and to claim success at doing so is just encouraging other idiots to invest.

Finally:

Ponzi's and pyramids are not gambling its a way to syphon money from idiots.
These long running pyramids...... you will find out all the success stories are sockpuppets of 1-2 people right at the top.

PS: Friends dont let friends order from BFL.

The List of Ponzi Operators.
If you take advice from these people your gonna have a bad time mmmkay.

yonce - a HYIP promoter making more than a passing effort in his scam (nice to see a committed con artist).

Min-btc - scammer.

120cycle - scammer.

naRky - scammer

multiponzi - scammer.
bmL - scammer.
btcmania - A very clever and persuasive shill. Defends ponzi's and their operators despite knowing full well that ponzi's operate as a scam.

BitDoubler - scammer.

ponzimatic - scammer.

CoinPayoff - ConPayoff.
Weekly_Ponzi - lol.
jontstaz - ponzi operator
ponjava - ponzi operator
greenservice - piece of shit ponzi operator/ con artist.

apsvinet - Scammer, liar, opponent of free speech, all in all a nasty piece of work.

You get merit points when someone likes your post enough to give you some. And for every 2 merit points you receive, you can send 1 merit point to someone else!

Just using 1 of the many ponzi's Im seeing here as an example:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=510309.0

So what happens with this scam is the operator plays the game themselves either manually or with a bot that stops the moment any idiot actually puts money into it.

The operator has 0 risk of loss for each bet due to the way this game operates.
This is not gambling, this is a scam for idiots.

Why do you feel the need to call everyone an idiot? People can think for themselves, stop thinking you're smarter.

We all know this is the gambling forum and there's a chance we won't get our money back if we put money into a ponzi.

What?  If people can think for themselves, then it's entirely possible that the OP is smarter then them.

You know what I mean.

My opinion is OP is someone who's very into gambling, is annoyed he missed out on some of these ponzi's so has a personal vendetta against them and those who take part, simply because of his own choice (hence all the name calling)

mem, I'm with you in this fight.  they have simply been allowed to take over.  spirit of marketplace/gambling, destroyed in a scammy ball of bitcoin dust.  I feel it too my man.

The mods are our only hope.  Maybe that or a revolt / peaceful non-violent forum demonstration of some sort.  maybe make 20 threads that all say "PONZI'S GET OUT OF MARKETPLACE / GAMBLING THEY ARE SCAMS"

and bump all 20 each time a ponzi thread is at the top.  Then we make the mods, at the very least, make a /ponzi subcat off marketplace and let the kids try and not be left with the flaming ball of shit when the music stops to their hearts content in this cute little model libertarian community where even blatent scams have a subcat and I totally agree with that because, well, some of these idiot humans running around love to send coins to ponzi's over and over again. And they should have the right to get fucked out of their bitcoins.  but not in a forum of legitimate btc gambling sites.

I actually don't know what you mean, because you said something that doesn't make much sense.

Frankly, I think your opinion on OP's motives are incorrect.  Do you support Nigerian email scams?  Identity thieves?  Why is it ok to take advantage of people in one way but not in others?

Do you honestly think the ponzi threads posted here are comparable to nigerian email scams and indentity thieves or are you just grasping at straws to try make a point? With these ponzi's you are told out straight its a ponzi. You know (and I did when I put money in one) that there's a chance I won't get it back. You're gambling on whether or not other people decide to invest after you, its not a scam. Even all the transactions are visible to help you make up your mind if the ponzi is slowing down etc.

I think to be considered as gambling, there should at least be a way to calculate the "house edge" or your % to win.  With Ponzi's, you have no way of calculating that.  It only depends on when the downline dries up.  I think this is an issue that needs to be considered..  With casino games/dice games, at least I know what i'm up against.

I'm pretty sure that no one is buying into these Ponzis.  The person running them seems to have a stable of other forum accounts that he uses to claim they are investing and then getting paid back.

I think if you do the traces on the transactions, you'll see the money is just going in circles.  I did this on one of them just to satisfy my curiosity.

If you have the ability to do HS math, you should be able to figure out that ponzis don't work.

even more of a reason to put these ponzis in a separate thread or ban them all together.

standard low post count "It's awesome!"  mixed with tons of copy-pasta type ponzi sites.  Like a few operators are laughing right now.

we need to act as a forum.  If we all go nuts on the report to moderator every ponzi every post we can make a change.  But as is, one or 4 of us doing it has clearly been ignored

Yes.  Ponzi scams are a felony crime.  Knowingly participating in them with the intention of making a profit is also a felony.  When they involve real money, people who turn a net profit on Ponzis often have their asssets seized to pay off those who took a loss.  They cause incalculable economic damage, and that is why they are illegal.

They are as bad, or worse, than Nigerian email scams.  Anyone who participates in one knowingly is a criminal himself, whether or not they've gotten around to enforcing the law yet.
