the list goes on and on. I never heard of the rest because the only I've tried are the ones being discussed here like forkdelta and etherdelta. decentralized exchange however aren't friendly enough, it took me hours to finally learn how it works. non o the two that i've tried loads fast, both took time. but yes, they say dexes what is going to be used for safer trading.
The Gluon Plasma protocol will allow exchanges to be noncustodial, yet have smooth and easy interfaces, and trade at the speeds of centralized exchanges.

Currently centralized exchange is more popular than decentralized exchange that why decentralized less demand and has low liquidity. But with safety reason more people will prefer to choose decentralized one. Some centralized exchange was get hacked, so decentraized one is the solution because offer more high level of security. Put coins on centralized exchange is mean we are not really to be own that coin because we dont have the private key, but for decentralized one we have full control with the account and we get the private key.

If this can be learned by more traders decentralized will be more used than centralized exchange, the fact that after sending your coins inside centralized exchange you always have fear that it might be hack or the owners can possibly freeze your accounts as KYC always been needed especially  if you have huge amount of coins, this topic is important so OP's updates will help a lots of newbies and those who also be inspired to use decentralized platform.

You should  learn a lesson from what happened to QuadrigaCX and stop keeping important amounts of crypto into exchanges.

According to his wife, the CEO died of (unexpectedly?) of Crohn's disease which btw must be a living hell to have.

And somehow, the investors never had a contingency plan that included a second or third person having access the vault keys. Brutal mistake.

The idea is that people choose to invest on exchanges that have had many promotions and exchanges that have not been hacked. As you say, most decentralized exchanges have low liquidity, and people are afraid to keep their money on such exchanges. Potential investors want to have security in their investments. It's just like at the bank. You want to keep your money at better-known banks, because that gives you some comfort.

Security is a necessity and one of the most essential part of trading. I check on this thread everyday and I am encouraged by the responses of people. Updating the thread will be a thing of joy and fulfilment to me, most especially seeing that people are helped. Also, whoever notices at lunch of a good decentralized exchanged, should try as much as possible to notify me for update.
I am also keeping my eyes glued on some decentralized exchanges that are preparing to lunch with better features.
Just today, another decentralized exchange called CDEX has been added and more are coming up.

I did not know that we this many Decentralized exchanges, honestly I seldom exchange on this kind of exchange, but it's more preferable for people who do not want to go through KYC, but unfortunately, some top coins in the market are not tradeable there.

There are so many Decentralize Exchange and I have some question with the exchange like this. Is there any chance that the crypto being deposited will be hi jack and taken out from the hacker just like what centralized exchanges had been experiencing into? THere are hi jacking happens on some centralized exchange so if the decentralized exchange will not be easily hijack then decentralized exchange is the future of crypto exchanges.
When using any exchange, decentralized in this case, you need to ensure they already have a track record of trust, most especially. Take for instance, there are quite some number of well known decentralized exchanges that have been able to build trust in the mind of users for quite some time, coupled with the fact that they cannot be easily hacked.
Since the team can be trusted to make the system fully decentralized, which means your private keys are not being stored, then you need not fear an hijacker or someone hacking the system, because it will be the hardest thing to do. The only exception will be if you are clicking on a phishing site.
I would argue that the non-custodial aspect of DEX's is just table stakes. Meaning, that it is a given that a DEX can't steal your funds. The harder part is making sure the operators of the exchange are not colluding with other traders, allowing front running, or skimming a few pennies on each trade. It's great that we can't be pickpocketed, but there are so many other ways an exchange needs to be secure.

Thanks for sharing the list.. although I tend to prefer centralised exchanges to decentralised exchanges, if not for any other reason then the fact that I do not have to put my private key at risk and the transaction fees are always constant.
Exchanges using Gluon Plasma for trades eliminate the variable of gas on each trade. You only pay gas when you withdrawal from the platform.

Many people are now talking about this, especially when it comes to today what exactly is understood by the words decentralized exchanges? These are exchanges that are impossible to track which do not have their own binding and exist only on the Internet.
Great point, there is a spectrum of what constitutes a DEX. I think the confusing part for ppl is the "EX" of "DEX". i.e., what constitutes an "exchange". Clunky Peer-to-peer, 2 day process, or highspeed with trader friendly UI. The "D" is not without its controversy as well...as in the degree of decentralisation to qualify for being a DEX.

I do not use decentralized exchanges because they are very slow. For example have you tried token.jar? I tried it and the page was loading for an hour, unbelievable.

Decentralized exchanges sound good, however they are not ready yet to compete with centralized exchanges in term of functionality, too slow, unfriendly user interface and complexity. I hope binance will make a revolutionary D-exchange.
Thanks to side chain tech like Gluon Plasma, DEX's will be able to be as fast as centralized and have world class user interfaces.

And I'm not sure how decentralized the Bianance DEX is going to be as its being built on the Binance chain. So it will be fast, but more of a non-custodial exchange than decentralized.

Decentralization has been the key driving force of cryptocurrency since inception. This in my opinion is the attraction point for mass adoption, most especially being an alternative to centralization.

Those who use centralized exchanges, whether regulated or not, do not have any anonymity, because their personal details are being submitted.
For security purpose, a lot of crypto enthusiasts are also being careful of giving out their details to scammers, even while using exchanges.
Little do i wonder, even Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency excahange, who knows the importance of decentralization in the crypto space, had to reveal the release of its most anticipated   Binance DEX.
Also, due to some reasons, such as the hack of centralized exchanges, lost of funds and users not having full control over their funds, more users might switch over to the use of decentralized exchanges. Which is now evident, seeing so many projects considering listing on decentralized exchanges.

This has then spurred me to give a list of some reputable decentralized exchanges that are presently operational in the crypto space, but before that, i would explain what decentralized exchange is and state some of its advantages and disadvantages.

What is Decentralized Exchange?

A decentralized exchange is an exchange where the customer has full access and control over his/her fund, without the interference of a third party. On this type of exchange, private keys and coins are not stored on a central server, which is why hackers cannot find it easy to hack and steal the funds of users. This invariable means that users have the full control over their assets, unlike the case of a centralized exchange.
On decentralized exchange, trading is done on P2P (i.e, Peer-to-Peer) basis on an automated system. Therefore, eliminating the interference or service of a middle man.
Credits to Cryptocompare

Advantages and Disadvantages of Decentralized Exchange?

Advantages

1. Security: The most important and profound advantage of decentralized exchange is its security. It is more secured, because you do not need a central authority or third party to store your funds in a central system, which then makes it much harder to hack.

2. Privacy: You can trade on decentralized exchange without any need of you to submit your personal information, such as your international passport, name, address, phone number and the likes. All you need is to login with your wallet details.

3. It is Ubiquitous: DEXes can be used in countries where the use of cryptocurrency exchanges, most especially centralized exchanges are banned. Therefore, it is found and accessible to users from any part of the world.

4. Decentralization of servers: In the case of a decentralized exchange, there is no centralized server. Considering the importance of anonymity, they are stored across serves located allover the world. You you cannot trace its use to a particular person, which also ensures more security. There is also no risk of server downtime.

5. Presence of Actual Volume: Unlike most centralized exchanges where bots are used, there are no bots on decentralized exchanges. This invariably means that you will know the actual volume being traded.

Disadvantages

1. Non Beginners friendly: Beginners may not find it easy to use, but they can explore it and with constant use or exposure, they will find it easy.

2. Suspense over Ownership: The creator might not be known in person, except he decides to reveal his identity, which makes him to be able to evade tax or government influence. Its use can be suspicious, but when tested over time, it can be trusted. Nonetheless, there are good numbers that have been tested and trusted, including some that will soon be lunched, such as BinanceDEX.

3. Lack of Public Awareness: This is more reasons threads like this are very important, because there is no adequate awareness and sensitization, unlike the case of centralized exchange. Which means if you do not ask someone that knows, you may not know.

4. Low liquidity: Due to lack of awareness, some decentralized exchanges experience low liquidity, but we are gradually tending towards that time, where liquidity will not be a problem.

Heat
You must have heard of the issue of scalability which most popular blockchains face. The problem of handling ever-increasing number of transactions on the blockchain puts constantly increasing pressure on each node in the network. The HEAT technology removes this pitfall by intelligently combining the best features of the existing 2.0 cryptos with a completely remade, sliced blockchain mechanism. Using custom built storage and access solution, based on Memory Mapped Files, binary data stored on disk can be accessed at near RAM memory speeds - without the need to load this data in RAM. Splitting blockchain into separate files for various data types, the HEAT Java server can fulfill the requirements of any modern commercial fintech applications on blockchain.
Another good part of it is that, it is highly decentralized.

Since there are so many available decentralized exchanges today, what if you guys can make such a new exchange combined both decentralized and centralized? That would be fascinating.
There are hybrid-DEX's out there. In fact, Leverj is doing a plasma flavour for exchange model, so its decentralised but still high speed centralised feel.  Its achieved by doing all the high computation stuff like the matching and margining  on centralised servers and all the operations within are trustlessly secured by fraud proofs between parent chain and child chain (using basic market rules like time price priority and balance availability, solvency, liquidity).

It seems to me that the principle of decentralization as a whole can be applied in a very large number of options. I think that there are really great opportunities for improving the comfort of the lives of people who today can be improved.

A real breakthrough in the cryptocurrency industry would be the emergence of a truly decentralized exchange with atomic swaps. This would solve the problem of centralization and total control by the regulator.
The problem with atomic swaps is that they require both parties to be online when the trade actually matches. This means you can't just place an order and shut your laptop and walk away.

I think in upcoming future decentralised exchange will be the more usable than centralised one . Cause decentralised is the future and will live for long. At this moment the liquidity on decentralised is not that much good and this is one of the main problem. And one other problem is it's not easy to use like centralised exchange it's is a bit complex than that. That's why people don't like to use. And there is a lot of coins available in decentralised which is a plus point and a negative also
I think that it will be difficult for decentralized exchanges to compare with centralized convenience and liquidity. Moreover, decentralized exchanges are underdeveloped now.
Leverj is doing plasma flavour for exchange model, so its decentralised but still high speed centralised feel. Doing the matching and margining on centralised servers and all the operations within are trustlessly secured by fraud proofs between parent chain and child chain. And the sneak peaks I've seen of the UI look to be very slick.

Once it seemed to me that all the exchanges would become decentralized. But now I understand that this is impossible. It seems to me that the government will not allow this.
How do you mean?
