The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

  I have to agree. Unless we know for certain the seller's intention here. We have to assume they are just there for 'test' purposes or some such.  I mean, unless they contacted you and said they needed to back out of their purchase.?

If you're not excited by the idea of being an early adopter 'now', then you should come back in three or four years and either tell us "Told you it'd never work!" or join what should, by then, be a much more stable and easier-to-use system.

Noone contacted me about this.

Also: it's now only 5 @0.99BTC left (15 previously), so either someone bought 10 (to be expected and hoped for) or (part of) the order was cancelled (also good)

Someone put up a sell order at 2 BTC, no harm.

I decided to not buy back.

38% funded down from 40%, because some share reservations on PMF vanished Sad. We made good most of that loss by a slightly risen exchange rate, though Wink

down to 35.59% funded due to lower exchange rate.

Please donate. Notice you will get your money back in case we don't reach 100% in time if you use GLBSE to donate (see previous post for instructions)

Nice project. But are you sure that the guy at PMF is really Max Keiser?
Please make sure before you send the funds.

I'll donate 2000 LiteCoins if you can provide a LTC donation address (that's about BTC 13~15 at current exchange rate).

The Project Info on PMF says the following:

owner: rishey
producers: sherbert, rishey
executive producers: PMF Fund
directors: rishey
editors: rishey
cast: Max Keiser

I'm assuming (also the pics match): sherbert = Stacy Herbert, rishey might be Richard Bluestein.

Now, I know this is not proof. I twittered him about it, if this doesn't work, I'll mail him (max@maxkeiser.com). I've been in email contact with that address talking about making bitcoin payments directly to PMF.

Should he answer on twitter using @maxkeiser, we can be pretty sure it's him, right?

I'm happy to receive litecoin donations. However: I will convert these to BTC using btc-e.com pretty much immediately (trying not to crash the market, though). So in case we don't get to deliver our money to the Project, I might not be able to give you back the full amount of LTC you donated.

Thanks for your generous donation, freequant! I converted the 2000 LTC to BTC 12.03046289 as follows:

Quote
1) Sold 100 LTC by price 0.006101 BTC (total 0.6101 BTC -0.5%)
2) Sold 7.11581168 LTC by price 0.006101 BTC (total 0.04341356 BTC -0.5%)
3) Sold 500 LTC by price 0.0061 BTC (total 3.05 BTC -0.5%)
4) Sold 1392.88418832 LTC by price 0.00605 BTC (total 8.32694933 BTC -0.5%)

and sent them to the donation address (tx_id: a712cf26f5a6407530a99661170a66939ac302ae41cf0a5f2242d25307e3fed5)

I would've loved to wait for a better exchange rate, but didn't want to risk having to take an even lower one and since I said I would exchange "right away", I just did it.

Nice project. But are you sure that the guy at PMF is really Max Keiser?
Please make sure before you send the funds.

I made pretty sure by asking Richard Bluestein, the director/editor of the film via email:

Quote from: molecular
thanks for your quick answer, let me add one more question that was asked by the bitcoin community:

 * are you sure it's really THE Max Keiser starring in the film?

he answered

Quote from: Richard Bluestein
Yes it absolutely is.

It says "Max Keiser" in the cast section of the project and Stacy Herbert is, together with Richard, producing: http://www.piratemyfilm.com/projects/291

Pease note: I reserved 5 shares of the film on PMF with our funds (don't have to pay at this point). That's the maximum I can reserve.

I asked Richard some more questions, he said he couldn't answer them and would ask Max and then get back to me.

So I'm leaving for Stuttgart tomorrow and from there I'll go to prague with a friend to visit the Bitcoin Conference.

Hopefully I can talk to Max there, he's been hard to reach via email.

Unfortunately GLBSE is frequently down so I'm having a hard time calling for the last round of donations.

I still don't know the deadline for funding the film.

We still have a chance to fund it. The needed sum might be lowered for a reason I cannot currently disclose, but I'm no sure it'll happen.

So, if you want this film made, see the first post on how to contribute some BTC (even without using GLBSE)

Will hopefully be able to answer all questions about the project after Prague.

so, I talked to Max Keiser briefly at the bitcoin conference in Prague (the conference was great).

I think it's now finally public info: piratemyfilm will be accepting BTC for payment of shares and they will start to pay dividends in Bitcoin, too.

I think this is great news.

The gust of my conversation with Max is that it is not possible to enable my account to reserve more than 5 shares. The background for this is that he wants to avoid few people to buy all of the shares.

I'm unsure what to do know, but suggest we wait for the "bitpay" buttons to actually appear on piratemyfilm.com. Currently I think the best route would now be to give you people back your bitcoins so you can buy shares of the project yourselves on piratemyfilm.com.

Stacey Herbert and Richard Bluestein where filming material for the project in Prague (at the conference and at the pub(s)). They interviewed Amir, for example, and of course filmed the panel discussiond and Max' talk about himself and PMF.

It seems Max is now officially a bitcoin supporter (see his recent tweets).

Thoughts?

I think he was already a bitcoin supporter, but maybe is more official now.
He's a great ally.

It's payback time.

I'm aborting this operation and as promised will pay back (if possible and not wished for by donator otherwise) the money you guys donated.

For GLBSE it's simplest: I'll just pay back all the money received by IPO (41 BTC) as dividends... doing it now... done, divident payed: 41 BTC to 41 shares -> 1 BTC/share.

For the donation address it's harder. I said I would send people back their money if they request it, otherwise I will send the money to the bitcoin faucet, so please make your claims (here or via pm to molecular).

Should you want the money sent back to some other address, you must proove you are the owner of the address used to send the donation. You can do this as follows:

#> bitcoind signmessage <address used to send donation> "please pay back to address <new payback address>"

post the message and the signature that is output by above command here or via pm.

Here's a list of the donations and the status (will update this list):

  • 18SWbLBmFAnHQew74UyQrVPAnUMBaMByfz, BTC 100, donator requested I should "use the BTC to fund some other worthwhile Bitcoin-related cause of  your [my] choice"
  • 14ywF3yUndbD5D6SQdWYZS5upDmiJDrcMy, BTC 1, -> faucet
  • 1Fqog92mjEH22kdfjJthuLDoZBnhfR2mMW, BTC 3, -> faucet
  • 1EopQJtANU99WJKQXGMixkcTDX6P8AR5fi, BTC 0.25, -> faucet
  • 1PkufEVizwrnRQEz9zZgfH3kgXFRQLckRq: BTC 5, -> faucet
  • 1Jzd7HrhZ7jqnNn2vXAAz39exvX3zz8Tt: BTC 0.16, -> faucet
  • litecoin donation by frequant: BTC 12.0304629, payed back BTC: a78775ba912e8206a6ae6a651bda6c6d375e93b3ec94690bd093b1f9408be7ac
  • litecoin donation by coblee: BTC 12.129064, told me to consider the money a donation for my kicks-ass litecoin graphs, which I will put back up soon, EDIT: they're back

I sent BTC 1 + 3 + 0.25 + 5 + 0.16 = BTC 9.41 to the faucets donation address 15VjRaDX9zpbA8LVnbrCAFzrVzN7ixHNsC. tx_id: 3310f4774209ddf17f9d7e1030bc0dd85da598d185f968e330a5423b90b0d0ff

you can verify via blockexplorer that this list is complete: http://blockexplorer.com/q/getreceivedbyaddress/1GhJ9QpShc9t1jWNgx8DX8nA44GYojHhE3. The sum is BTC 133.56952689

Thanks to all donators!

I'm pretty sure we played a sizeable part in Max Keisers relationship to Bitcoin and I'm more than confident that this will pay out some point early next year Wink.

lol, the project is >100% funded

just read this on PMF:

Quote from: max
bitcoin prague is now 100% funded, but it makes sense to reserve some shares anyway to account for defaults. @rishey has all the footage

The funds needed for the project was reduced from $1,500 to $300. Probably because bit-pay.com payed their flights. Thanks bit-pay!

so: YAY! Look forward to a great film!
