Theoretically, the last bitcoin could be mined in 2140. However, we're almost exhausted everything and by 2026 I would say that we will "almost" see all bitcoin mined.
It's not possible to be mined at 2026. You are right that the last bitcoin will be mined in 2140 and that's the correct answer. After each 4 years, rewards got halved. Current rewards is 12.5 BTC per block and it will be reduced to 6.25 on 2020 and 3.125 on 2024, thus it will require all the 2140 to be mined all the bitcoin. You can't complete more than 210000 blocks within 4 years. Daily block is 144 only.

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Being one of the top altcoins, both XRP and ETH have a chance to compete with each other, but the reality is, it can never replace Bitcoin, knowing that it has become the currency to be traded in every exchange. No matter what place, who tries to tell, it would be hard to replace the original Cryptocurrency. That’s just my opinion.

If I need stability and safety I will choose XRP, but if I need high profits I will choose ETH. 2018 shows the stability of XRP, but that means less profit.
I don't think XRP have stability price, if you see the price movement on coinmarketcap XRP price have the same with other altcoin even with ETH price. Also, in the past few month XRP and ETH alwasy overtake each other to take second place. At least this is pointed out XRP price alwasy move and this is means you can get also a lot of profit if you have XRP.

I have never used XRP and have heard that it needs activation fees, meanwhile there is no such thing in btc, I prefer btc over xrp, specially that after LN — fees on btc transactions are much less.

I think ETH or XRP will replace BTC. but my prediction XRP will dominate the market more than ETH, I doubt to ETH after the vitalik left from ETH. on the other hand, XRP always develops its platform every time.

XRP is a bankers coin, I don't think the community would want it to dominate.
ETH and XRP are both profitable and they in good competition right now, whichever replace BTC as long as the it will still result to a good market it doesn't matter to me. However, as an investor, I also have my prediction on this and I choose ETH over XRP.

BTC supplies only 21 million, and now there are 3 or 4 million BTC in the system. even though there is a little more BTC, we will also find it difficult to get BTC. then, it will take a long time. 2024 or 2026 are predicted that BTC supplies will run out.

we have to think about the prospect of the crypto world in the future, until today BTC has a function to stabilize the crypto world, but what happened if supplies BTC runs out? is there another crypto that can stabilize and maintain the existence of the crypto market?

I think ETH or XRP will replace BTC. but my prediction XRP will dominate the market more than ETH, I doubt to ETH after the vitalik left from ETH. on the other hand, XRP always develops its platform every time.

how do you think, will the XRP replace BTC and has a very high value of $ 20K like BTC in 2017?
I don't think Ethereum or Ripple can replace Bitcoin's first position in the future, if the supply of bitcoin runs out, I think there will be big changes in the cryptocurrency market and the possibility of another altcoin replacing bitcoin as very low

Base on you thread title actually both were good in my opinion ,which is it depends only if which of that coin will fit only on your strategy.. However if you have money that not needed on this moment then grab both instead . Because in fact previously when market made a small bump we witnessed that ETH show a big average unlike other coins .

Nope. Bitcoin will not reach its maximum supplies by 2026. Maybe another 50years because of the halving.
Anyway, this topic was posted already and i always choose eth over xrp.

i keep to choose and hold ETH.
i think ETH is more more better than XRP and of course because ETH is most popular coin in cryptocurrency.
it is OK if ETH fall in 3rd but i believe that will grow up again.
don't to be worry ETH is always be big and bigger next time.

Current conditions allow both of them to become BTC main competitors and even allow them to have prices that are equivalent with BTC. if I have to choose between ETH or XRP I think both of them have a chance. but I think it still takes a long time for both to be equal to BTC. even though BTC supply are running out this is only an everyone guess.

Ethereum and Ripple are a good choice for investment, they have work products, strong teams, strong partnerships. You can invest in both cryptocurrencies because they both dominate the market.

For a short time like 1 year, XRP can be the best but for long time like 3 or more, Ethereum is yhe best option because it will increase hugely on the next bull run.

Not possible, as I believe eth will still prevail over xrp. I know that xrp is keep developing so as eth. Eth fork will probably the start of improvement. Without Vitalik it doesn't mean it will collapse, also it is not guaranteed that the stabilization will fall down once btc 4million reserve taken out. It's also a good thing you know, as it will reduced the clogging of transaction on the network.

Until now I still find it difficult to believe any coin is worthy or have what it takes to replace BTC, not even ETH or let alone XRP. XRP is centralized thus going against what the crypto space stands for while ETH is yet to full make its blockchain scalable. But until then, I still have my doubts.

I don't think that any coin can replace bitcoin at this moment. Or even in future. There is many reason behind it. It is the oldest crypto based on blockchain. And people trust bitcoin over anything. And if has the highest volume at this moment. And listed on almost every exchange. And almost be very exceed have pair with bit coin. So its very hard for any coin to reached bit coin or replace it. And ethereum is a good project but after fall of ico ecosystem its kind of struggling. Xrp is good as a project but it is somehow backed by banks and centralised. So that's it it is really hard for aby coin to replace brick n.

Ethereum and Ripple are both good investment choices, both have working products, strong teams, strong partnerships, alliances and respective foundations. They have also outlived many cryptocurrencies and held Top 5 positions when it comes to overall market capitalisation (or total value of the cryptocurrency). In terms of which is the better investment? I would recommend investing in both, these are two very different cryptocurrencies with different aims, different teams and different partners. If you had the choice between eating apples or oranges for the rest of your life or being able to eat both, what would you choose? Well, just my two cents on this.  Better get going as I monitor my live trading sessions. Cheers!

you are delusional if you think shitcoins such as XRP and ETH can replace bitcoin. and i am sorry to say this but you are an idiot that you think a token that is not even a currency is going to replace bitcoin which is a currency because it is like saying water is going to replace food!!! they are not even in same category so one can not replace the other.

all that aside, coins like that with huge supply and no cap have no future price-wise because the sheer amount of supply of them will kill their price whether you like it or not.

I'm not sure how accurate it is to compare ETH and XRP with each other. No need to talk about the market value. They are already racing.

I don't think either of the two projects is going to knock Bitcoin off the throne.

But if I have to choose between the two, it's definitely ETH.

XRP is a shitcoin

Xrp issue is that it's a centralized coin which unfortunately doesn't fulfill the reason behind crypto industry purpose which is mainly based on decentralization. However, on the short term xrp can still be profitable since it's highly connected to institutions which are still in power and ain't going away anytime soon.
