I know my statement may sound pretty hostile on this part of the board, though I'm not talking about the person who will buy a superbowl box or makes a friendly bet with someone over one big game. I think the degenerates are the people sitting around gambling on every game they can possibly gamble on.

I am not sure whether people will gamble on everything that is available without having a deeper understanding of the entire match and if someone does that, it is madness and nothing else, either they have a lot of money to gamble or they are trying their luck with the last penny they have to make a living, no one in the right sense will gamble off their hard earned money.

There are actually a lot of them and I have seen them. Yes they gamble on everything and they even borrow to play and this is because of the wrong mentality of trying their luck which we try to discourage. How do  support a player to play with their last penny simply because they have to earn a living, is gambling supposed to be a place to earn a living?

Gambling is a game of entertainment and it has been so since ages. My father told me how he has been a gambler and even our forefathers did this, and they never planned becoming rich from gambling, all they did was to have fun, the little profit that comes occasionally is in form of reward.

There's nothing wrong with trying to win some money, especially if the very process is enjoyable. Isn't that the same thing as treasure hunting when people invest their money in some equipment in hopes of finding something valuable? They mostly fail, by the way, and yet treasure hunting is not that frowned upon as gambling. And do you know why? That is because treasure hunting is not that popular as gambling, that's it. I bet there is the same percentage(around 3%) of treasure hunters who ruined their own lives, and perhaps, the lives of those close to them through their activities, as that for gamblers. And there are other similar pursuits too, and stock trading is one of them imo.

So, don't be so harsh on gambling. It's just one of those hobbies that can be very dangerous when abused.

I joined you in disagreement  with op views on this an it some time very important you have explained to us here. Is there any business that did not has risk of losing? We do lose in any other forms of business just that the risk level varies and that is what matters.

I have friends like this, people that will gamble on Mexican Womens Tennis if they can win (or most likely lose) some money on the game. It's a crushing addicition that we've normalized in our culture to make it seem like it's just apart of life. It shouldn't be, and children at a young age should be stopped from gambling until they know the horrible outcomes that gambling can cause. I would say crypto is kinda gambling aswell currently , nobody knows how it will turn out at the end . But ofcourse crypto compared to gambling have less risk , but still..
