England played very well in the first half. They were very confident and created many chances, one of which was converted into a goal. But unfortunately, they couldn't maintain the rhythm in the second half and had to concede a goal which forced the game to continue with extra time and finally a penalty to be taken. England were not as lucky with penalty kicks as they had been.

Well.. you know the facts. England got the exemption, because they vaccinated more than 60% of their population (Italy managed to inoculate just half that number). The cases are increasing once more in England, but the situation is under control and the number of deaths have remained low. I am also supporting Italy for today's match (I guess a majority of those outside England are rooting for Italy), but for them it will be a very tough job to face England in front of all the English fans at Wembley. It can be quite intimidating, as Denmark found out a few days back.

We all got what we wanted in the end, regardless of the home advantage fan advantage etc. I can't remember which English player who said the 60k fans at Wembley sounded like 200k. I can't imagine how sweet is tastes now for the fans players and coach of Italy who won against what sounded like 200k.

Also, shame on England fans who abused Sancho, Rashford, Saka. My god, you guys don't deserve real Englishmen like them.

I fell asleep immediately after the game yesterday, these constant overtimes really wore me out

I'm glad that Italy won at the end, I thought they were the better team throughout the 120 minutes. I feel a bit bad about Saka though, it takes courage to shoot that last penalty, he's only 19 years old and will be put under a lot of pressure for a prolonged period now. He's also been racially abused, which is something that should never happen.

I like english team football-wise, but the english fans showed once again yesterday why the whole world is against them. Disgusting behavior.

I just woke up because I stayed up late to watch Italy vs England match
It was a great feeling to see England score the first goal in half 1 and I think it will last until the end of the game

but Italy can make 1 goal also in the second half, a little disappointed with the England game, they seem to be playing defensively

I felt the coach of England Gareth Southgate made a strange decision when they played against Italy yesterday, England have a great start when they managed to score an early goal against Italy, but I wonder why did England choose to play the match against Italy in defensive mode after scoring an early goal instead of balancing their attacks and defense for the rest of the match.

And since the focus of England are only on their defense, it allows the players of Italy to control the game tempo and keep on launching attacks in search of the equalizer goal and they finally get their reward when they scored the equalizer goal and thus the game would have to go into extra time and penalty shootout. I just wonder if England were to play more aggressively in attacking after scoring an early goal, and with Harry Kane leading the frontline, maybe the final outcome of the match would be different.

England reached the final knowing they were gonna play in Wembley. They had a great start, finding a goal in two minutes and what do they do? They start defending with the whole 11 players!
That was so stupid. Italy suffered 15 minuntes but then found the right way to attack ending with a crazy > 70% ball possession!
Italy deserved the Cup, no doubts but this England lost a once in a lifetime opportunity considering they played Euro2020 basically at home.

Both players have same goal number so they check assists. Ronaldo have one assist and Schick have none so they give Golden Boot to Ronaldo. Like it or not but this is rules.

Penalties are more about luck, I think penalty is a big punishment in football and give one side a big advantage. In general I'm not a fan of it and especially it gives heavier advantage to defensive teams. That kills attacking mentality and positive football, I don't like watching defense for almost 90 minutes. -That's not about Italy's win though, just my general feel about penalty in football.

But this decision made Italy, even more, dominating the game. If England continues to play as usual (like against Denmark), then Italy would not be that easy to win the ball possession. I was very disappointed with England's decision which was much different in the second half. I think England still have a chance to win without extra time and penalties if they play like the start of the first half. But their decision to stay was probably due to Italy's reaction after conceding a goal and forcing the England players to retreat to their own defensive area.

But there is nothing to regret after Italy won this title after both teams had to fight to win in regular time. England and their players don't look like a team that has a winning mentality on penalties and Italy are stronger there.

Sad for Kane, and sad for the rest of the England boys (literally, actually,,, the ones who missed the penalties were almost all boys especially Saka) I just hope this loss for them does not affect them into the season. It was not their fault, we all know penalties are lottery tickets and anyone can win and lose just by doing something different.

My guess is right, if this final goes to penalties then Italy will win. Maybe if I bet I'll have some extra pocket money. Being able to score a goal, England couldn't move before being locked up by Italy. Looks like the title of the host can not help their mental rise. LOL... penalty is good as far as England manages to win. But they are bad if England loses. What sort of mentality is this? If penalties are so unpredictable, then why the higher ranking side wins the vast majority of the matches that are decided on the basis of penalty shootouts? Penalty shootout was necessary, because both the teams were given 30 minutes of extra time and none of them could score another goal. What do you think? They should have added another 30 minutes? And what would happen if the teams fail to score a goal even after this time? The match can't go on forever.

I think we should be honest and admit that the better team won in the final.
England took very good advantage of the fact that they played practically the entire European Championship at home, the ban on foreign fans coming to England, the referee's help in the semi-finals etc.
The English players didn't withdraw to the defense of their own free will, but due to the great pressure of the Italian players.
Italy is simply a more compact and better team than England and they showed that in the final and deservedly won.
In fact, it is a pity that the Italians did not solve this game earlier, before the penalties.

Yep, it was a mistake to give so much space to the Italians. I read somewhere that Kane didn't have a single touch on the ball in the Italy's box and that he failed to have a shot on goal only the 2nd time in his international career.

It was not just Kane though, all England's attacking players had a really bad game yesterday. Sometimes it's hard to get back into the offensive groove if you defend too long, and England did that after an early goal. When they conceded, they simply could not jump into an offensive rhythm again.

Where did I say that exactly? Please show it or don't misquote it. Re-read it. That has nothing to do with England's loss.
You just prove my point, mostly teams advanced with penalty shoot-outs. Teams play more controlled and defensive on extra time. You may remember golden goal rule if you are not so young. That type of ending would be more exciting for fans. I'm not a fan of penalties in football generally and for the major tournaments penalties are more decisive. That's my thought, I like to watch good football, I don't want to see teams waste time on extras waiting for penalties.
