It's true but you we can't easily say that... we have different views about it and different stories in gambling some people play gambling for fun... (At first) and when they won... they want more and after some time they will lose their money and play again until they have nothing and once they have money again they will play gambling to recover their loses.

In short at the start we should be responsible in our actions because even though it's a fun game, you won't see the risk coming from that fun.

For the ones that want to have a little fun they afford, gambling is simple.
For "professional gamblers" it's math, and not the easy one. Indeed. But you forget to tell that professional gamblers play mostly games where the math can indeed help them (poker, black jack). They don't play games where the random factor is very big (high-low, dice, roulette).
There are a lot of people that don't understand the difference and want to become professional players. And lose money and the fun.

And there's a special class, the sports betting, where some background knowledge may be more useful than math. That's easier, but it's different thing imho.

In my believe, there are very few individuals who aren't gambling for gains. Started gambling not long time ago and my ambition on gambling is to make money, likewise others. I agree on your statement but it's hard to find the way to live my way out of gambling. I mean, I really love gambling. I don't know what would be my life without it. For me, gambling is not just fun. It's something for me to have profits.
