We broke the mark of 100 votes!

We can do it!

You realize that BCN is, in effect, 80% premined ? It was not released on clearnet until about a week ago.

FAQ (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=557322.0) :

Q: When Bytecoin BCN blockchain started?
A: According to the block chain info, "the first block was founded 07/04/2012 05:00:00 (GMT)" [7].

It's 2 years deepweb old and somebody somewhere (can't provide a link) also did a calculation about the large amount of PC's involved in this.

Bytecoin was launched 7/4/2012 (I mean - in darkweb). We know that ”old” BCN-users are very closed but the devs communicate with us and send puzzles from time to time. Info about this can be found here (this thread).

Also I think nobody will create a coin and wait for 2 years before going into the market. It even sounds stupid Grin

I've finally synchronized my blockchain with this new version of code and downloaded some statistics. Here is a difficulty chart starting from the genesis block.
Spike in november 2012 looks strange for me, but it exists in data.

I wouldn't say anonymous (users can see where things are going and what amounts) but rather strong privacy -- stealth addressing ensures no address reuse and impossibility of linking addresses to individuals without their private keys, the multisig ring signature scheme makes it difficult to see where transactions originated from.

ZeroCash is totally anonymous, but the downside to that scheme is that people can't observe inflation if there is a bug in the program etc

So there are 2 choices if I understood correctly:
1. not complete (99%) anonymity and easy bug fixing
2. complete anonymity and bugsbugsbugs?

Regarding the age of bytecoin.org: Maybe it is not as old as 2012, but at least it dates from March 2013 https://web.archive.org/web/20130304080736/http://bytecoin.org/
And since I guess they did not attempted any SEO, it probably took time to archive.org to find the website. So 2012 is probable.

Cryptonote.org is at least as old as august 2013 https://web.archive.org/web/20131020133207/https://cryptonote.org/ And it was litteally a work-in-progress by this time.

Monero: the first crytocurrency to bring bank secrecy and net neutrality to the blockchain.HyperStake: pushing the limits of staking.

Has anyone succeeded in compiling the source code on OS X ?

In the file "oaes_lib.c" I needed to add

#include <malloc/malloc.h>
#include <stdio.h>

but now I am stuck on the error

Linking CXX executable connectivity_tool
ld: library not found for -lrt

Guys!
See what I have received just right now!

That's so strange and, to be honest, I'm a little bit scared by this.

My guess is that they are going to introduce a new fork, which will compete with the simultaneously released Bitmonero fork.

Well, with (2) it's more like, "you can't see anything that's going on, you just know what your account balance is."  ZeroCash is using zero-knowledge proofs at every step to generate and send coins, so you can't really see anything going on in the network in terms of inputs and outputs -- you can just verify whether or not it's valid.

So you end up with the situation where if someone found some kind of bug to exploit the system, you wouldn't be able to detect it.

With ByteCoin you can have someone's address and still not know at all if coins are being sent to them or sent by them.

but ZeroCash is centralised which is no good.  anyone know is bytecoin decentralized?

ít's not worth of mining on that pool. I got only 90 000 only after 12 hours. With same machine i'm able to solomine 2 - 3 blocks (132 000) per day.

there must be only a few hundred really active BCN miners. It runs almost 2 years and even now it's extremely easy to mine. With my single humble machine im able to get 1 million in 3.5 days, that's crazy.[/i][/b][/size]
Which machine do you have? So that I can compare with what I can do.

BTW, I hate[1] am annoyed by GPU mineable coins, as it clearly gives an advantage to riggers vs ordinary people.

This site from the received picture (http://hs5jfdmnhw63bcbc.onion/) asks me to wait
And there is the same music as at bytecoin.org  Grin
I think it's a new puzzle for us. Seems like weekly bytecoin puzzles become a tradition.

What to do if you get a Connect failed to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8080? I am on Manjaro Linux and I did not block any port on my router.

Did you get the file also or just the ss?

Apparently that doesn't matter . . I filtered it:

Now I'm intrigued even more.
