[ANN][TAG][Scrypt PoW/PoS] <-> (Original - not a token!)

Background:

TAGcoin (TAG) was released in 2013 as a PoW/PoS hybrid Scrypt coin and has continued to be mined, traded, HODL'ed (and talked about) ever since.

Its founder Mark Vernon [Skype] walked away from the project in late 2017 swapping many TAG coins for a Token also known originally as TAG then later as TAGCash [Archive] with many coins sent to a burn address TRCryptoLifeDotNetBurnAddrXXX6gvik in exchange for the TAGcash Token [Archive] on the ProofCore backbone [Archive].

Exchanges such as Novaexchange have continued to support the TAG Original listing it as XTAG [BTC][DOGE] together with the all important addnode= information and mining companies such as FindBlocks.Wales enable the block chain to continue to move forward with their pool operations and block explorer.

The very first versions of the TAG wallet can be downloaded from the Way Back Machine by browsing the first archived version of the download page - [Windows][Mac OSX][Ubuntu] as well as the original [Source Code (Zip)] for version 1.0.1.0 and corresponding [GitHub Archive] plus Version 4.0 of the TAGcash Android Apk. (note, check out other tagcoin.org archived pages for later versions of the android APK)

As can be seen on that archived page we can glean the following information:

• Total Premine - TAG 10,500
• Given out so far as referrals - TAG 1050
• Paid out for Mac CLient - TAG 100
• Giveaway for Android App Testing - TAG 100
• Giveaway for RFID Binding - TAG 250
• Earmarked for Blockhain explorer - TAG 100

This list contradicts Mark's later assertion that there was no pre-mine of TAG. (page was last edited on the 18th Nov 2017 - four years after TAG's original launch).  In any event, we know for certain the following information: As at block 779577 there is a money supply of 7649384.60544700 TAG with 3916637.748056 TAG having been sent to the burn wallet address TRCryptoLifeDotNetBurnAddrXXX6gvik which leaves just 3732746.857391 TAG in circulation. I.E. At this point more than 51% of the mined TAG are in one wallet - admittedly a burn wallet, but still...

The most current version of TAG Original that was released is Client Version TAG-v2.0.0.build-g-bdb-gcc on the http://tag.proofcore.com/ website [Archive] - The various versions are: [Windows][Mac OSX][Ubuntu] and the all important [Source Code]

On the Technical Specifications page, we know that TAGcoin Original is:

• Pow/PoS hybrid (5% yearly interest, PoS blocks generated after 30 days of coin age)
• Algorithm: Scrypt
• Starting difficulty: 0.5
• Coins per block: 30
• PoW Subsidy reduction: 1% every 3 months, minimum reward of 3 coins
• Time between blocks: 4 minutes
• Retarget: Every 2 hours, with a 25% limit in either direction
• Network Port: 8623
• RPC Port: 9624

Social Media:

TAG Original has its own Discord Channel but as yet no other social media channels.  There is a disused Twitter Account for TAGcoin, however, it has not been posted by a non-bot since the 29th of July 2017 and has remained disused in the last six months.  If Mark is reading this, we would respectfully ask him to make contact to discuss handing over passwords for Twitter and any other social media outlets so that we can carry on his original vision of the coin being used to TAG and TIP (and the secret key for the TAG wallet alert key too BTW)


TAG Original continues to be favoured on the Chinese AEX.com market which is the rebuilt btc38.com exchange [Archive].  Unfortunately, TAG is traded for just the in-house coin GAT however, the daily trades of TAG on today's date runs to a staggering 2.46 million TAG!




Yobit.net Exchange trades TAG Original.  According to their Coin Info page, at the moment there is:

So we are uncertain if they are discounting certain burned coins that we haven't been made aware of as yet.  Given the closeness of their coin count, we have no reason to believe that their exchange is not connected to the TAG Original network.

There is no active Paper Wallet for TAG Original - given that it a PoW/PoS hybrid I would discourage their use long-term.

Agreed.  Market analysis sites such as coinmarketcap.com and coingecko.com are not polling TAG (yobit) and XTAG (novaexchange) on the same page, neither does blockfolio's APP so it is essential at this cross-road that we settle on a new name for the TAG original coin.

I have waited a week after Mark's post to enable anyone else who wants to make suggestions or indeed step up to the crease and offer themselves to help with the social media etc to be known.

As noone else has made suggestions (other than the above comment on the naming of the TAG Script coin) I would like to ask that the script coin TAG be transitioned to XTAG as mentioned in the OP that novaexchange has chosen to label the "old tagcoin block chain".

TAG cash is entitled to name it's own tokens as it pleases, however, the original TAG scrypt coin either continues to be known as TAG, or, something distinct e.g. XTAG.  The TAGcoin Original label will in time be dropped as we transition to XTAG, but for now it's being used to clearly identify which TAG is being talked about.

As I didn't follow the progression of TAG to TAGcash / TAGtoken I'm sorry to say I don't quite follow the above suggestion of tagcash (Mark) of sending more TAG (scrypt) to TRCryptoLifeDotNetBurnAddrXXX6gvik which would further diminish the available coin supply of TAG original scrypt.

XTAG is a scrypt coin.
TAGcash is a Token.

Anyone swapping their TAG Original for any other coin or token is going to loose their TAG Original coins forever.  This is not a coin swap.  Don't be misled by promises of new coins.

I think you are reffering to Tagcash, which holds an E-money license to run PHP on a permissioned blockchain.
TAG original is a scrypt coin, which is not being used within the Tagcash platform anymore. It still has a small group of followers, which would like to breath air into the old coin. But they are not controlled or funded by Tagcash in anyway.
Tagcash had to move on due to the limited use of that type of blockchain.
Now they are using Multichain and Stellar blockchain for part of their services.
Tagcash differs itself from other licensed E-wallets, as they recently opened up as a Fintech development platform, which means their core repository is now open to the cloned and build ontop. These can be modules(mini programs) for within Tagcash, apps and services or for a yearly fee companies can have their standalone app with the Tagcash core, build around the wallet, https://tagcash.com/develop.php.

Yes, because such projects only seek profit for a while and after that the project is abandoned and the coins die without any price, so be more aware of new projects.

You can trade Tag/BTC also, but the tag wallet is in maintenance and you can't withdraw your asset. I Cant trust Yobit with wallets in maintenance for so long , how do we know if tagcoins on yobit  are even linked to blockchain nothing moves to any wallet.

I haven't used bitcointalk for a long time, but I feel i should post what Tagcash has been working on in regards to Tagcoin

Some history first

Way back in 2013 i created Tagcoin for use as a rewards cryptocurrency, but quickly came to find that most companies want their own brand of currency, so that concept didn't hold. As we built and learned within Tagcash, we found technical limitations of Tagcoin didn't allow us to do what we wanted, so we left it alone.
In China in 2017, the crypto gambling craze took hold of Tagcoin and they pumped the price up to about US$1, and i was approached by a group of Chinese to relaunch it and do an ICO... users agreed to burn it 3 to 1 in advance of doing the ICO. Then the Chinese govt banned exchanges and ICOs and the whole project fizzled. I had created TAGX inside Tagcash as our own rewards, so I converted Chinese balances to TAGX with a view to doing more with it and thats where it has stood till recently. TAGX is only used inside Tagcash, so it is limited for anyone who holds it...unless they do something within the ecosystem, it's no good for them or anyone else.

I have been working on new product called Tagbond.com for the last couple of months (similar to Enjin and Enjin coin) - it is an ERC1155 contract and site, to create non fungible tokens for geoTAGs, game tokens and tokens for other business use cases. TAG is bonded to NFTs as they are created (and given back when tokens are burned). NFTs can be bought and sold for TAG, or you can see immediately the items you have created on opensea.io and trade them there. You can play with the site right now as we develop, using Rinkeby network, faucets to get ETH and TAG on Rinkeby network.  When the site goes live, we will be offering TAG priced at 1 cent, rising 1 cent per week to 10 cents and then let exchanges set pricing.

We created a new ERC20 token (TAG) (https://etherscan.io/token/0xcc4ae94372da236e9b113132e0c46c68704246b9) as the main cryptocurrency used on Tagbond.com, and there will be a permanent offer to exchange 1 Tagcoin to 1 TAG, by sending the burn address to me and either a stellar or ethereum address to send TAG. We use Stellar to be able to trade it on the DEX - it is a token representation of the ERC20 Token. After we have done that we will set up the ERC1155 collectibles section as well. This will work well with Tagbond, or any other ERC721 or ERC1155 tokens.

We are in the process of sending TAG to our Chinese holders, and updating information on the AEX exchange for Tagcoin.

The end result of this is that this breathes new life into Tagcoin. Mining it will still be useful, and it has a better use case now, which should help the price rise. It is anticipated that the price should be similar to EnjinCoin, currently about 10 cents.
