I think I have to be careful. I've lost my eth because of scamer, it's never safe from malware phishing, I prefer to use metamask quite safe for me

Search engines should redirect to official sites for queries like well known wallets, banks, etc...

I once got a desktop notification of a Phishing Myetherwallet site, I had to carefully cross-check the site and discussed it was a scam. Already, I bookmarked the real site on my browser to avoid any slight mistake and I do well to always check even the book market site for a possible re-direction.

I installed the EtherAddressLookup extension in my browser. It has a list of phishing sites and warns you if you hit it.
This is not an advertisement, I just share information with you.

ok buddy, thank you I will try it. Previously I bookmarked MEW on my web browser (I use chrome) is this safe enough to avoid phishing webs. or do I need something again?

same here buddy i also bookmarked the official mew site and i can say that this was safe because ive been doing this for more than two years now  just before the phishing news about mew went viral   .

btw what method do you use to open your mew wallet ? i currently use private keys and i know that it isnt the safest way to open a mew wallet  . if your like me that also use private keys , then i sugest you use some kind of browser extension like meta mask  for extra protection from hackers and phishers  .

I was about to say this one, bookmark everything so that the likelihood of you getting to a phishing site is minimised. Been practicing this and so far I was able to get away from those sites, everyone should give it a try.

Private key is dangerous as well, but I was say that I used it before again, never experience hacks but I'm still very careful though.

Well, online wallet is the worst wallet to use. It might be easy and simple to use, but very low security. I suggest you all to get at least desktop wallet to store you assets, if possible you can buy a hardware wallet for better security. Better safe than sorry.

they still do this when they can just guess the privatekeys like the kids who stole 45,000 ETH just by guessing privatekeys. phishing will leave more trail thru that hosting companies they use. these hackers seem to have more skills, than just guessing so they should just use their skills to earn not steal.

What a thing that often happens. Phishing sites are circulating everywhere and always looking for our guardian side. It's really the thing that makes MEW users think twice about using it. Keep your friends' hearts because evil always targets our blind spots.

Bookmark and always check it first before putting your private keys is very important securing your wallets online, a lots of hackers who's waiting to penetrate with your accounts so do a routine check before dealing with your online wallet, always take a closer look with the site and double check
everything as OP already shared some information.

Firstly I check the Alexa rank of the site, even though I bookmark them. Most of the phising sites don't have good Alexa rank. If you compare real site with the phising site you can see the difference in Alexa rank.

Secondly using Metamask, it shows the warning message on the screen when we visit any scam or phishing sites.

Third, read the URL twice before entering into them.

Fourth, Always use Two devices one for work and one for the wallet.

MEW is mostly attacked Ether Wallet till now.

LOL you are asking to check the alexa rank before use it? Really funny I hope you don't do like that too.

While you accessing the wallet just confirm the URL is correct or not that is enough else you bookmark the page and access the legacy wallet. Because of new UI many people confuse themselves whether it is correct or wrong wallet.

Yes Checking Alexa ranks helps me in 2018 to avoid fake MEW URL's  If you don't understand what I want to say then you should read again. Mostly phishing site doesn't have good Alexa rank if you check in case of MEW, the Alexa rank for MEW is 12,877 and if you open the phising site you can see their Alexa rank. Much different

I haven't heard of a phishing site for ethereum wallets for a long time, but it seems they always pop up and try to snatch all the coins we have. Indeed, it is very difficult to distinguish between the original and not because it is very similar. But if you remain cautious and also always be vigilant if there is an acceptability.

As far as I know there are more than two thousand such sites in Russia. I am more interested in what resources will advertise such phishing sites. Of course, in order to avoid any problems, always use only previously made bookmarks.

Search engines should redirect to official sites for queries like well known wallets, banks, etc...
Search Engines doesn't work like that. Search engines work bases of a website's ranks. inbound and outbound links. and other factors. which we call Search Engine Optimization. if a phishing website have stronger SEO than an original website then that phishing site will win in the search engine. that's how it works. search engines are made of bots and codes. they don't check which website is original and which one is phishing. Stronger Optimization you have stronger the chance of your website to come on top of search engines.

Make sure once you search to myetherwallet you can check it if the site is really legit because we know now a lot of pishing site are copying the name of the website and they change only some letters or add some so the user will not notice that website is fake or trying to hack your account. We need to be careful every we want to login our account to make sure our account is safe.

It's easy now to detect MyEtherWallet site phising or not
First, if you mobile user use MyEtherWallet apk on playstore, it's easy to use
Second, for pc user install MetaMask to protect you from phising site, it always close when you open phising site. Very helpful.

This has been the first time this year that I am hearing about the MEW phishing site, so I got the impression the scammers gave up on this particular type of phishing as it is the most obvious one and most people are already familiar with it, but I guess it is still effective enough to keep trying. Bookmarking the real MEW site is indeed an easy and crucial ordeal to avoid stepping on this phishing mine.
