Getting started in Bitcoin can be a bit complicated for new investors because of their tendency to take short-term profits. At the same time they want quick profit and short time from their capital. However, Bitcoin gradually allows their investment to be more organized.

In the world of investment or business we have different set of people which is Entrepreneur and non Entrepreneur and this set of people has different perspective, vision, goals and the way they go about their investment, so actually the non Entrepreneur are mostly those that has a very short vision and doesn't see the greater pictures of what their Bitcoin investment will actually be in the future but instead they are more focused on the possible way to scout profits which always makes it  very hard for them to become successful on their Bitcoin investment, while on the other hand we have Entrepreneur who are known to be a goal seekers and doesn't judge based on the actual state of Bitcoin but instead they are more interesting on the bigger picture of Bitcoin and this are the set of investors that mostly do well on their Bitcoin investment and they could be known as the long term holders.

I think your reference works mostly outside crypto cause there's more to Bitcoin investment and sometimes it's not necessary to wait investment for years provided your investment has yield 2 or 3 times your capital. Sometimes the people we see as the major investor are mostly the people that do mess up at times because of the quantity of investment they are into and remember the bigger the investor the bigger the ability of making choices and the bigger the confusion. Lastly, Bitcoin investment is different from any other investment both in crypto and outside  crypto, the most important thing is knowing how to invest and hold it for as long you wishes to..., No stress, you don't have to carry out any activity before it will give you profit unlike other business where one will have to work all day and be re-strategizing just to keep the fire burning.

Okay how about last five years that the price of Bitcoin in April 2019 when this thread was created was around $5000 so you can agree that someone who bought bitcoin then did bought at a dip price if we look at the price today so that is still the same thing that we are likely to experience in the future so as the price of Bitcoin keeps creating new ATH that is how previous buyers will continue to buy at a dip price and it continues inasmuch as the factors that leads to the pump in price of Bitcoin continue to exist, we are still buying at a dip even for an investor who is only practicing the DCA method.

Of course, no one is really going to know what BTC price dynamics are going to be into the future, but if we look at the context of the BTC price when this thread had been started, we will see that there was almost a whole year of downward BTC price movements (in the whole of 2018), yet starting in the beginning of April 2019, the BTC price had moved up a lot, and actually the BTC price ended up moving up for three months from April to June in a pretty BIG move from $4,200 to $13,880.. so the thread was started during a very interesting time in bitcoin's history.

We can have a lot of differing views about our own bitcoin accumulation strategies and/or how we think about bitcoin, yet some of these ways of thinking will also change with the passage of time, so yeah, we are never going to go back to the earlier times of this thread, so my own personal consideration that there should be no reason to change the name (title) of the thread).. because the time has already passed and if the thread is no longer applicable and/or interesting with its original topic, then the thread might be due to retire.... even though it seems buy the dip and hodl is a kind of evergreen theme.. even if DCA is also another (and perhaps superior) variation.. but it does not matter, since the ideas can still be batted around, and in this thread, we will likely continue to talk about buying the dip and hodl and also lump sum versus DCA.. as long as members are continuing to participate in the thread.

It seems to me that there was no reason to change the title of a thread like this that had been running for more than 5 years and had "buy the dip in the title" from the start.

I personally believe that "buy the dip" is not as good of a technique as DCA (especially for beginners), but buy the dip is still both a valid talking point, a valid practice, it can be especially employed during situations of lump sum buying and front-loading of an investment, and buy the dip is something that a lot of those in their BTC accumulating stages will weigh and question what they should be doing and whether or not to wait for dips before buying.. and in the last two weeks, there surely has been some decently sized dips that could be taken advantage of.. even though none of us are really going to know how deep the dips are going to go or how long the dips are going to end up lasting.

The original title was "Buy EVERY DIP, and HODL". That was during 2019 when it was absolutely obvious that it was safe to buy all DIPs with everything that you had - leave just enough money in the bank account for bill payments of course. I changed it to "Buy the DIP, and HODL" - because DIPs were not the 2019 DIPs, then to simply "Buy Bitcoin, and HODL" because I was convinced by you, and other posters, that DCA is a good buying strategy to have mixed in with buy the DIP.

Plus it's merely a title, it's not that important compared to the things we learn from each other in the topic.

It would have been more better the topic is lift the way it was, the dip was something that needs it's part in this topic because it brings forth a lot of strategy of Bitcoin accumulation it was through this thread a lot of people decided to use the different strategy they are using in there Bitcoin accumulation journey.
The former topic was much better for newbies in this forum to locate a thread that can give them more knowledge about the strategy that will be good for them and I believe this thread is the best for that job but changing the name makes it now a one side discussion.

I understand what you are saying and honestly speaking I prefer the former name of this thread. There is something about that name it's brings different ideas and people together. Yes we know that we are to buy bitcoin hold, even people who are new to bitcoin know that they will buy bitcoin at one point or the other. Personally I never knew about some strategies ever existed when I started buying bitcoin. I didn't even know that there was anything called buy the dip or DCA and lump sum, the former name of this thread made me to know that there was a strategy called buying the dip. It was in this thread that I learnt all that and the former name of the thread was making it more and more interesting for people to come here and contribute, share knowledge and learn from each other. But ever since the name of the thread was changed it seems that something changed and the group is no longer as vibrant as it used to be, the interest in it is gradually fading. That uniqueness in the name was actually a driving factor, but with this new name the thread is becoming more quiet, that driving force is no longer there, judging by my observation. I don't know how it will be but for me it's best to return the name of the group to what it used to be.

I thought I was the only one... I was actually looking for the "DIP" phrase a month ago when it was newly changed , I thought it was moved at first until I learned it was just changed ... I mean c'mon it's a dip season we need something like before  "Buy the DIP"

for the fact that we've gotten used to the main topic of buying the DIP and HODL, it would have been a better option to leave the title of the thread that way considering the fact that it gives us the ability to talk about buying of Bitcoin using different strategies and under different circumstances. That the title is buy the DIP doesn't necessarily mean that we're waiting for the DIP before buying. As long as we're buying for the long term using the DCA methord and we're hoping to be profitable in the long run, it directly means that whatever price we're currently buying is the DIP price.

The thread was relevant at the time it was created when most of us had not joined in the discussion and up till now it's still useful and the discussions are still applicable to the strategies we're currently using and in the next four years or even ten years to come, we will still talk about buying the DIP and HODL or buying Bitcoin and HODL. It's not as though this current name is out of place or isn't passing almost the same message. As long as the context still remain intact and that we can still talk about the main idea which is to Buy and HODL, this thread would still stand as a perfect reference point for anyone that's looking for best strategy to go about buying Bitcoin.

Yeah you are right, changing the name now is not adding any meaningful thing to this thread and to us following this thread if it he thinks the thread is no longer applicable or interesting ending it should be the best thing to do, however from my own view I think this thread is still interesting and has been helping people especially we the newbies and so leaving the former topic is the best thing to do in other to keep it going.
We can't stop discussing the dip, DCA and lump sum strategy in this thread as long as this thread is concern and so removing that dip in the Topic will cause a lot of damage and our discussion won't be broad anymore the topic will now limit us which is very wrong at this time.

Buying Every dip and hodl?, To me sounds like we are only encouraging the buying of Bitcoin only when there is a dip. Then what has been the purpose of those strategies that've been discussed so far under this thread?. Just like you said, newbies might think, waiting to buy every dip is a smart strategy that the majority do. Even though Dip is a good thing to acquire more units of Bitcoin at a good price, but we should still understand that dips does not happen at all time. There are times when the entire market condition changes, and we begin to experience upward movements, then do we have to sit and wait for the next dip?. Like I said Buying "Every Dip" should be a choice and decision of the buyer and not mandatory to buy Every DIP.

My opinion.

Initially, I supported Wind_FURY when he changed the name of this thread from buy the dip and hodl to buy bitcoin and hodl because it got to a point where some people were mostly concerned about buying the dip, even when they didn't have enough money to buy the dip, which could make some newbies think it is better to accumulate bitcoin in a dip. But as time went on, I noticed the conversation in this thread had reduced since the name of the thread was changed. The discussion of buying the dip contributed a lot to the growth of this thread and the knowledge that was shared in this thread. A lot of people have gained knowledge and know the strategy to apply in some situations to seize the opportunity if a dip happens. I agree with you that the name of this thread should be changed to buy the dip and hodl if it's possible.

I prefer the topic in this manner it's more suitable to discuss, the shift in the topic narrows down from a specific tactic to a more general approach in bitcoin investment, buying bitcoin and hodl is more straight forward  on buying Bitcoin specifically (rather than other cryptocurrencies). "Buy the Dip and HODL" generally refers to the strategy of purchasing bitcoin in its price dips or declines, and then holding onto it for the long term. On the other hand, "Buy Bitcoin" encompasses all the strategies for acquiring Bitcoin, while So Buy Bitcoin is like the big umbrella term covering all methods of acquiring Bitcoin e.g DCA, buy during dip, lump sum/ front-loading while Buy the Dip is a more targeted approach within that umbrella, emphasizing the strategy of buying during price dips specifically. Most time in our discussion we do refer to other strategies also it's better that the topic changes from Buy the Dip and HODL to Buy Bitcoin and HODL that makes sense, It's great to have a broader umbrella topic that can encompass all the different strategies for buying Bitcoin. This way we can dive into various approaches and tactics within Bitcoin investments. It provides a more comprehensive view of the strategies available for acquiring and holding onto Bitcoin for long-term growth.

Already this thread would have been locked before now but due to the fact that newbies bump into this thread almost on daily basis makes it so difficult to lock this thread because they can't be denied the knowledge they wish to know in this thread and for the fact that @ JayJuanGee is also open to responding to discussions in this thread also makes it more lively and interesting because if not that he has been very active in this thread, who knows it would have died a natural death just like some other threads did, let's just thank @ JayJuanGee for his devotion in attending to this thread even though some discussions may look like a repetition but since it is a very voluminous thread, not every one can easily get the information they needed to know from previous replies and if am not mistaken this is one of the oldest active thread in the Speculation section after the  Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion that was created by @infofront in April 2013.
                          And just like you said the discussions of various methods and strategies of investing in Bitcoin cannot really stop since majority of us are still accumulating Bitcoins. I think the heading of this thread should be a thing of debate anymore whether it is 'buy the DIP and HODL' or just buy Bitcoin and HODL as the most important thing is not only about following discussion here but also being practical about it as that is the only way we all can grow together is our Bitcoin investment journey.

The only people who's probably very happy with the current Bitcoin price movement are the DCA buyers and Buy the DIP bidders, because they are currently getting more units in Bitcoin for the same amount of fiat that they will be using/have available.

It seems to me that there was no reason to change the title of a thread like this that had been running for more than 5 years and had "buy the dip in the title" from the start.

I personally believe that "buy the dip" is not as good of a technique as DCA (especially for beginners), but buy the dip is still both a valid talking point, a valid practice, it can be especially employed during situations of lump sum buying and front-loading of an investment, and buy the dip is something that a lot of those in their BTC accumulating stages will weigh and question what they should be doing and whether or not to wait for dips before buying.. and in the last two weeks, there surely has been some decently sized dips that could be taken advantage of.. even though none of us are really going to know how deep the dips are going to go or how long the dips are going to end up lasting.

The original title was "Buy EVERY DIP, and HODL". That was during 2019 when it was absolutely obvious that it was safe to buy all DIPs with everything that you had - leave just enough money in the bank account for bill payments of course. I changed it to "Buy the DIP, and HODL" - because DIPs were not the 2019 DIPs, then to simply "Buy Bitcoin, and HODL" because I was convinced by you, and other posters, that DCA is a good buying strategy to have mixed in with buy the DIP.

Plus it's merely a title, it's not that important compared to the things we learn from each other in the topic.

I stick with my original comments.  I see no reason to change the title...... at least taking out the buy the dip part of it, since that is a contrasting idea.  Your earliest edition was merely buy the dip, and then you added HODL. later.. yet I also don't see much difference between buy the dip and buy every dip.. and the inclusion of the idea of HODL .. does not interfere with the overall sentiment, since there surely can be reasons to just reverting to HODL (which is don't sell, and maybe even don't buy more since you are running out of money).. so sometimes HODL does come into play whether we are talking about the BTC price going up or down or sideways, there can be various reasons for HODL to be triggered... including sometimes loss of confidence during extended sideways periods.

Also, even though DCA has been talked about a lot in this thread and also lump sum versus DCA, I don't consider those to be conflicting ideas or even needing to be stated in the thread topic, which you had already gotten correct with your wanting to push the idea of buying the dip.. especially in the beginning, and there is nothing wrong with having that idea continue to be contained in the motivation of the topic since so many folks are still going to be weighing what they should do.. should they buy BTC right now or should they buy on the dip (that may or may not end up happening)...   

You surely have argued quite convincingly in the past that there still could end up being times when buying the dip may well be better than DCA'ing, even though I continue to argue that buying the dip mostly becomes better when someone has already accumulated a decent amount of BTC (whether that be through lump sum, front-loading or just having a decent amount of time already in the market in which they might have accumulated a decent amount of BTC stash or even be in a position of over-accumulation compared to the rest of their finances and/or psychology).

Yeah you are right, changing the name now is not adding any meaningful thing to this thread and to us following this thread if it he thinks the thread is no longer applicable or interesting ending it should be the best thing to do, however from my own view I think this thread is still interesting and has been helping people especially we the newbies and so leaving the former topic is the best thing to do in other to keep it going.
We can't stop discussing the dip, DCA and lump sum strategy in this thread as long as this thread is concern and so removing that dip in the Topic will cause a lot of damage and our discussion won't be broad anymore the topic will now limit us which is very wrong at this time.

I am not just talking about the present, but the idea of buy the dip was included in the thread historically, so the last more than 5 years of the threads existence, so not having the idea of "buy the dip" in the title may way contribute towards confusion in terms of the discussion points and/or emphases in many of the earlier posts that might well have had been weighing the idea of buying the dip with other possible actions that might be considered.. whether that might be, DCA, lump sum, front-loading and/or HODLing... hopefully not selling, even though some members would bring up selling too.. so those members were clearly seeming to deviate into off-topicness.. especially if they were proposing selling BTC as a potential means to accumulate more BTC.

There are times when the entire market condition changes, and we begin to experience upward movements, then do we have to sit and wait for the next dip?. Except the op would want to keep changing the topic based on current happenings.

That is part of the problem of changing the title. rather than just leaving it. .since I had mentioned earlier that the idea of "buying the dip" surely is an evergreen one that really does not need to change, since the idea always is part of the considerations of anyone who might be considering accumulating bitcoin or accumulating more bitcoin.

I thought I was the only one... I was actually looking for the "DIP" phrase a month ago when it was newly changed , I thought it was moved at first until I learned it was just changed ... I mean c'mon it's a dip season we need something like before  "Buy the DIP"

You are not alone buddy, I am also one of the people who just noticed the title change above, I just came back to the forum after a month of being busy to finish my main job. The title change above made it difficult for me to find the word "DIP" which is usually very easy for me to find, but this afternoon I really had to use my glasses to look at it in detail and make sure that I really didn't find the title "DIP and HODL".

There is actually no significant change in meaning in the matter of changing the title above, "Buy Bitcoin and HODL" remains a good suggestion or reminder, but I don't see other suggestions that could be more profitable in the context of the title, unlike when we read the original title in this thread, "Buy DIP, and HODL" which not only invites / advises us to buy but also reminds us to buy "during the decline" to increase the chances of profit.

I was a bit confused when I want to check the buy the dip and hold thread, I discovered that the original name has changed, it took me some time to confirm that it's the actual thread. Sometimes before people should do something they should consider the effect of such before doing it. Apart from being confused of the original thread, the other one is that it can be misleeding by changing the content of the thread even if it looks almost thesame, but it can still be misleeding expecially when most places has the coment buy the dip and checking some place buy every dip and so on. I am also using this medium as a plead to wind fury that this thread has gone so far to be tampered with otherwise it will make people confused from the intended meaning which has started some months or years back. You are right @Samlucky O, continuous change of the heading in the OP wasn't necessary at all but however, sometimes a thread can be moving away from it's original contents in the OP or from the topic of discussion then the OP can decide to change the topic as times goes depending if users making replies are starting to digress from the initial topic of the OP but in this regard, the numerous editing of the OP are all in line with the discussions in this thread even though it wasn't necessary, hence there is no cause for an alam inasmuch as our discussions here is not deviated from each changes made by the Original poster therefore i move the motion that the debate of OP changing the topic of discussion should be put to an abrupt end so that it doesn't distract people from making further discussions on the purpose in which this thread was created. @richbase you have made your point very clear which is quite understandable, but you also need to pay attention to what the op of this thread said in his statement earlier, he said that the reason he changed the topic of this thread to buy Bitcoin and hold was that, recently in this thread, it was made clear to him by we, the participants of this thread that the DCA accumulating strategy was way better than buying only the dip, so that's why he changed it to buy Bitcoin and hold.

But I really buy the idea of what @amicablecrypto said, he said that the dip needs to be part of the discussion, so it wouldn't be nice if it was taken out of the discussion entirely, and I also share the same sentiment with him, the floor of discussion should be open about buying the deep and buying through the DCA accumulating strategy, then it will be left for you as an individual to choose which one that suit you the most

It would have been more better the topic is lift the way it was, the dip was something that needs it's part in this topic because it brings forth a lot of strategy of Bitcoin accumulation it was through this thread a lot of people decided to use the different strategy they are using in there Bitcoin accumulation journey.
The former topic was much better for newbies in this forum to locate a thread that can give them more knowledge about the strategy that will be good for them and I believe this thread is the best for that job but changing the name makes it now a one side discussion.
My opinion.

Initially, I supported Wind_FURY when he changed the name of this thread from buy the dip and hodl to buy bitcoin and hodl because it got to a point where some people were mostly concerned about buying the dip, even when they didn't have enough money to buy the dip, which could make some newbies think it is better to accumulate bitcoin in a dip. But as time went on, I noticed the conversation in this thread had reduced since the name of the thread was changed. The discussion of buying the dip contributed a lot to the growth of this thread and the knowledge that was shared in this thread. A lot of people have gained knowledge and know the strategy to apply in some situations to seize the opportunity if a dip happens. I agree with you that the name of this thread should be changed to buy the dip and hodl if it's possible.

I feel you guys are reading much meaning into what doesn't matter, for those who has been engaging in this thread will have the basic knowledge on what the thread is talking about, we have been on the discussion about Bitcoin accumulation and we have induced some approaches like DCAing, Buying the Dip, when to lump sum and many more patterns. It's a general thread discussion all on how to accumulate Bitcoin easier, faster and more convenient, so using just one approach as the topic thread is not appropriate whereas other methods are still discussed in it. In everything we do, our primary goal for the thread is all about to Buy Bitcoin, and Hold.
