Considering how many Bitcoin believers (maximalists) there are, with their specific beliefs of how cryptocurrency should behave, it's becoming more evident that Bitcoin is a religion. After all, this popular movement of decentralized finance has impacted our lives one way or the other. The world has its eyes on the direction of Bitcoin as a digital currency which determines the path forward of Blockchain technology. According to Google, the term "Religion" means the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods. This becomes true especially when many Bitcoin followers believe that Satoshi is some sort of "god". Hence, if Satoshi would reveal himself to the public, many people will follow him. Nonetheless, what are your thoughts about this? First of all, I don't want to create a debate about this matter. I just feel to give my "two cents" for this topic. Blockchain and Cryptocurrency is a great discovery and invention but I don't think we should worship him as "god". We believe in Cryptocurrency but not to the extent that we will be create a religion and make Satoshi Nakamoto a "god". There are great inventions also and great inventors who are known, why we don't consider them a sort of "god"? One answer will be appropriate I think. It is because we already know that it will not be appropriate and would be an insult to our One and Only True God.

Anything can be considered a religion. To do this, just enough of your faith and the faith of others in the subject that you will worship. It can be bitcoin or a teddy bear. Already there are many religious sects and cults that worship all garbage. The question is whether in the 21st century, in the heyday of technical progress, is it necessary to create any religious cults? It smells like an anachronism. It is better to just enjoy all the benefits that progress gives us and create new ones.
I understand your viewpoint. However, religious people will certainly blame you and the guy who asked if BTC could be considered something like a religion. As for me, Bitcoin can become an addiction for some people.

Bitcoin is a virtual coin, and in my opinion should never be consider as a Religion, i know a lot of people use it and think like a good option or maybe pray to get more coins, but should not be confused with Religion.

so that means if I follow bitcoin I will be a bitcoin! and what if I secretly trade altcoins too? will I be punished or will be guilty of any kind. I don't know how it works but seems impractical concept too me. I can't change a religion whenever I want but I can change cryptocurrencies whenever I want. does being Religion provides any additional benefits to my life or does it provides any security to my coins.

Bitcoin has a large user community and plenty of developers who have been keeping it healthy and strong. There is a strong base of businesses and corporations which support Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Overall, many people support Bitcoin on forums and on the Bitcoin and BTC subreddits.

I think bitcoin is very far from what is religion. Because religion is a matter of connection to god, and bitcoin is a way of investment. If you love crypto whether you have faith in it, you are only called crypto enthusiast, not a person who worship crypto.

Have faith in bitcoin but also have bigger faith in God as he created everything. I am not a religious person but I don't consider bitcoin as religion, for one simple explanation, bitcoin is money, and I don't worship money.
I'll respect whatever you think about the topic as when it comes to religion, it's a never ending debate.

Bitcoin is a Cryptocurrency where we can access thru the internet. We may have faith in Bitcoin, but treating it as an religion is not one of the things that we should do. Bitcoin has united a lot of people who are willing to learn about Blockchain and other Cryptocurrencies available in the industry and i guess that is the best way how Bitcoin works, we support it that way.

In fact, not all religion are connected with God. Some religion believes in Heaven or ultimate being. Yes, many people have faith in bitcoin but worship is connected with religion, with our spirituality, and bitcoin is about money and investment. Of course still is possible that someone can officially register bitcoin church as Satoshi like new God or Jesus

Youade a very clear point bitcoin is a currency and God is a creator and religion is the way to worship God and calling bitcoin a religion then before you know it people start worshiping bitcoin and start making some image as a symbol. But in all there is a difference between bitcoin and religion.

Oh no, a religion is a group of people who have come together and have a belief in a supreme God or an extraordinary being. Bitcoin is simply a cryptocurrency backed by block chain technology and does not have any spiritual being.

Nonetheless, what are your thoughts about this? Religion is a cultural system of designated behaviors and practices, morals, worldviews, texts, sanctified places, prophecies, ethics, or organizations, that relates humanity to supernatural, transcendental, or spiritual elements. However, there is no scholarly consensus over what precisely constitutes a religion. ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion ) I think that no one considers Satoshi as a God (at least never in any source, on the forum or in personal communication, I haven't come across the fact that he was equated with God). Religion is something else. After all, no one called, for example, Etienne Lenoir a God for the fact that he designed the first reliably working internal combustion engine. Yes, Satoshi (whether it is one person or the development team) created something extraordinary, but this can in no way cause him to be treated like God, and Bitcoin, like religion.

The question is what you say, is it true that bitcoin is considered a religion? it all depends on the criteria of each person who can make it happen. if we are crazy about bitcoin, it can make us glorify bitcoin compared to others. but I think many are more rational in uncovering this, and making bitcoin an addition or main job in giving a better life, and it doesn't violate.

It's very personal, and much depends on what to consider as "religion." Btc can be called a religion in the same sense money is called a religion. If bitcoin is one of the many forms of money (goods are money, stocks are money, property is money), then it can be considered as "religion" to the same extent money is religion. But btc is just a storage value/payment means/investment tool. There's not too much fundamental differences, but they are. The nature is the same however.

bitcoin is not a belief, but bitcoin is a digital commodity so it is excessive if it considers bitcoin to be a religion. because right now bitcoin is being made like a currency for payment transactions in various countries, it becomes too much if you think bitcoin is a religion.

In my opinion, it is even silly to talk about this topic. Believers may even be offended by such a comparison. Religion is characterized by faith in the creation of man by the highest divine powers. What does Bitcoin have to do with it - the result of the introduction of the new technology of human hands?

How is the use of Bitcoin be compared or be considered as a religion? People spending their whole time to monitor or invest in Bitcoin does not qualify it as a religion. If I may ask, do you really understand what religion is and the characteristics of a religion ?? How can a digital asset and currency be considered as a religion??

in my opinion you are misinterpreting because religion is a human belief in a supreme god who is not against digital currencies (cryptocurrency) please differentiate it and if indeed Satoshi Nakamoto opens himself to the public then people will only admire him as a person who brought great changes to the world like Albert Einstein

God is everything and we can’t worship the wrong one especially the money. We have faith with bitcoin but it can’t be a religion. Maybe bitcoin created a huge group of people but the purpose is not to worship but to enjoy its technology, to transact to one and another, and to earn money as well. Bitcoin is the top coin but its not good to worship it, better to love and support bitcoin.
