That is true, he is not attractive fighter at all, he doesn't cause chaos, he doesn't trashtalk etc, but what i meant is that UFC needs champion like him is more from fans POV. I am sure that i'm not the only one who prefers dignified respectful fighters over loudmouths and clowns.
I miss old school type of fighters like  Georges St-Pierre, Fedor Emelianenko  and Cro Cop, so for me Miocic is a breath of fresh air.

Some fans prefers the drama while others prefer pure fighting so it's always better to have a good mix of "dignified respectful" and "loudmouthed" fighters. Comier isn't that much of a trash talker either (unless he's fighting Jon Jones) and I don't think "purist" fight fans will have any problem with him winning the title again.

I can agree with that, Cormier is among those fighters.


Excellent Miocic Vs Cormier fight last night , it was pleasure to watch and stay up whole night, especially if you are Miocic fan .

The way it started, i thought Miocic won't survive 1st round, Cormier completely dominated the fight, but Miocic showed the toughness and strong chin. Miocic survived all that and lucky for him he found weak spot in the 4th round and managed to finish the fight, KO/TKO was the only way at that point for Miocic to win the fight, if it went up to the judges decision, Cormier would win.

Miocic had excellent cardio, even better that Cormier and we know what kind of beast he is , even though he is already 40 years old.

I am quite disappointed with the Diaz-Pettis fight. I was expecting some fireworks but it was not the case.
- Pettis looks out of shape and not as explosive
- Diaz fighting smart by clinching and limiting his opponents attacks. He's also thrown more kicks than he usually does.

I was surprised too, i thought that Diaz will be out of shape, outside of the ring he doesn't seems like the brightest bulb but he showed intelligence  while Pettis didn't show absolutely anything.

I think its more of DC getting tired and gassing out and Miocic taking advantage of it. The landscape has change again with this win and more story board (I'm sounding like @bbc.reporter here ) branching out.

And you have to give Miocic some credit...  He did start going for the body as an adjustment and it worked.

Yep, those body punches made huge difference.

In the first 15 minutes Miocic made only 15 successful body punches, while in 4th round alone he managed to made 14 body punches, and we saw the result.

Based on the hits  received difference, this is 2nd best comeback. Out of 263 attempts, Cormier made
181 hit, while Miocic had 123 successful hits out of 229 attempts. So Miocic received 58 hits more and still managed to survive all that and even win.
Only bigger comeback was in UFC 117 when Anderson Silva beat Sonnen.

I think this might be end of Cormier career, maybe he should have step down as a champion, but then again, he obviously didn't want to calculate and kudos to that, he showed that he is(was) real champion and that's why he is considered as one of the greatest fighters in UFC history.

Cormier may have spent too much energy trying to finish Miocic early and he could no longer sustain it in the championship rounds. Great strategy and thinking for Miocic going to the body.

The Diaz-Pettis did not live up to the hype I think.

I'm really stoked for khabib vs poirier although I don't think poirier has any real chance, I mean he lost badly against Mcgregor, how is he going to win against Khabib? He doesn't have better wrestling and his stand up skills are perhaps a bit better but still, seems extremely unlikely.

Dustin is surely the underdog in this fight but the analogy of A beating B then C beating A, therefore C will beat B does not apply here. Different fighter, different style, new adjustments. He's also made some improvements that's why he is now in this position.

Correct, even if Miocic was battered in the early rounds, his chin really hold up and DC slowing down gives him the perfect opportunity to turn the tide into his favour. He saw the opening, took his chance specially with the body shot and it paid off in the end.

I think he is over rated, when he moved to UFC he wasn't the showtime that he used to be. I would tend to agree that he should hang up his gloves, but we all know that a fighter will still go and fight until they don't have it anymore.

It's not strange for me. He's not really into titles these days but he's after "hype" fights which can bring in a lot of ppv's. Coming off a record KO win, Masvidal is a good fit and he also loves to talk trash. The build up to this fight (if it happens) will be entertaining for many fight fans and that'll be good for both fighters purse.

I had DC, Pettis and Romero winning. So a 0/3. Luckily I ended up not being able to make my bets so I saved my ass from a monetary beating.

Nate Vs Masvidal will be an epic fight as both are OG's of the fight game and they are fighting for more than 16 plus years and with the record breaking win over Ben Askren, Jorge Masvidal is a hot prospect in the division and the winner will have the next title shot and it will capture the fight audience without a doubt. The real interesting question is whether Nate Diaz will pop for the things he was smoking before the fight when the test result comes out .
He even proposed Nick Diaz and GSP both coming out of retirement and it will be another great fight for the fans.

You can not blame Ben Askren for having a strategy of his own and I think anyone should have one than nothing at all, But the case for having just one strategy on a fight would surely make him predictable and Masvidal had already seen an opportunity to make a remarkable takedown, But again even though Masvidal had taken out Askren in just 5 secs doesn't mean he can sure do it in every fight or every fighter he would fight, Because that is only a 1 shot that he had only for Askren.

I think he pretty much wants to milk what's left in his career and fight the big fights that makes the most money.  IMHO.  So that means Masvidal and later prolly McGregor and Khabib.
