I'm feeling this way, I think the fight I'm most looking forward to is Ian Machado Garry vs. Islam Makhachev. That one will really shake things up, because I see a great chance of Islam finally being defeated. And that will make things different because it will significantly affect the rankings.

That will be a very interesting fight. The thing is, every GOATed fighter ended with a lose recently and I think that it's time for Islam to lose too. This year is full of surprises (including Merab vs Petr Yan). Honestly, I'd bet on Islam but interesting thing about Garry is that he really went to Georgia and if I'm right, he spent a few months there, training in wrestling. He was in a particular city in Georgia to train with the best local wrestlers and this country really has amazing olympic wrestlers. So, it's interesting to see what he gained while he was in Georgia. I hope he will translate that knowledge into the octagon in August.
Anyways, I can't really wait to watch this fight.

I too can't imagine Usman winning, but, in all fairness, I think people underestimate him a bit.
Yes, he's past his prime and approaching 40, and he lost 3 out of his last 4 fights, but that can be deceptive. If we look closer to his losses, things are not looking that bad:
- the first loss to Leon - he was dominating the whole fight and was dropped by a lucky kick.
- second loss to Leon - a close fight lost by decision.
- loss to Khamzat - a close fight taken on a short notice against a boogieman from a higher weight class.

Then he redeemed himself and won against Joaquin Buckley, who was on the rise and had massacred Colby Covington in his previous fight.
DDP is solid and he's the rightful favourite, but his confidence might not be at the same level after Khamzat handed him his first UFC defeat.

Usman record is still 21-4, and that is great, despite losing few fights before, last one against Joaquin Buckley he won, so he is in uptrend.
I dont think odds are correct and I see value betting something on Usman, and I think we should see more than 3 rounds in this fight.

That loss to Khamzat is not something DDP should be very ashamed of. He was a big underdog and everyone expected him to get mowed, but what we had instead was Khamzat applying the 'blanket' tactic by taking DDP to the ground but not being able to do anything there.
Usman is an accomplished wrestler himself, but I'm not sure if he could pull off the same type of win as Khamzat did. And let's not forget Usman is a welterweight who moved up to the middleweight division, while Dricus is one of the biggest middleweights out there.
I think for Kamaru this is mostly a money fight against a big name. I don't think he moved up because he thinks he has a real chance of conquering the middleweight.

With all the disappointment that was the McGregor fight (I know everyone should have seen it coming), it feels like the awesome performance by Paddy the Baddy went overlooked a bit. It seems like he came in much more serious this time and had his way with his opponent. He didn’t seem to take his fight seriously before that where he lost, so hopefully we see a more serious Paddy going forward.

I did not predict this occurrence on Conor. I have speculated that we will witness the Conor Gregor return of the king! However, what he has given us is a man who only wants liquid cash to deposit in his bank account, Conor ScamGregor heheheeh!

On Paddy the baddy, I very much wish his next fight will be against the big headed Topuria! This will certainly give Paddy more confidence because the big headed Topuria's passion in his heart might presently be weak.

I see McGregor keeps talking about how he’ll be back. I don’t think anyone will care after what happened with this fight. Losing is one thing, but immediately having an injury screams that he screwed all his fans for a payday. He might as well have released and rugged a memecoin. At least that wouldn’t have tarnished his fight reputation.

An Admin locked the McGregor thread so I guess we aren’t allowed to talk about sporting events more than 72 hours after they happen. Imagine being that miserable of a person. Lol

However, the fans will forget the big scam of Conor ScamGregor in only 1 year and they will welcome him back in the UFC and be very much excited to pay to watch him again heheheh. The Irishmen will be very much the biggest buyers of this scam heheheh!

I agree with you. If you look at the caliber of Kamaru Usman, he could very well defeat Dricus du Plessis with his wrestling pedigree alone. The only problem I see is that Usman is 39 years old, which is a major challenge. Furthermore, he has a history of knee issues; if the fight goes to the later rounds, it will be difficult for him to sustain his pace at this age.

It is a very interesting matchup. Du Plessis is a fighter who disrupts his opponents with his power, relentless pressure, and durability; he easily threw Israel Adesanya off his game and knocked him out using that very pressure. Usman, meanwhile, challenged everyone during his prime with his incredible wrestling, cage control, and pace. He is the type of fighter who can withstand Du Plessis's pressure, and thanks to his elite wrestling, he would be able to constantly shift the dynamics of the fight and escape that pressure. Still, it is a hard fight to predict, given the unstoppable force that is Dricus.

You are forgetting that Usman was a champion not long ago, and his wrestling game is much better than Dricus.
Sure Dricus defeated some great fighters bust most of them had kickboxer and boxer base.
I am not sure who is going to win but I dont agree with such low odds on Dricus win.

DDP defeats Kamaru Usman via unanimous decision!

I personally think this was a right call. Usman did his best, he looked sharp in the octagon but DDP was just the better man.



DDP’s offense was sharper and he landed more cleaner punches than Usman right from the first round.

After I finished watching round 1 and 2, i immediately knew DDP was ahead on the scorecard and that he would most likely win; it was really evident so i just accepted that reality. Usman only had round 3 and 5, DDP had round 1,2,4.

Even though i was rooting for Kamaru to win, he seemed not to have a good answer for DDP’s offense.

I thought he would go for takedowns more frequently but he didn’t as much as i expected him to.

Probably because he’s more of a striker than a wrestler and he also didn’t wanna risk getting KO’ed by a high knee from DDP.
Let’s not forget that he has bad knees too, so that could have also contributed to his hesitation of shooting for takedowns.

All in all it was a good fight, respect to both fighters. I enjoyed it and i think it’s now time for me to go to bed.

DDP Vs Usman went pretty much as most have expected.
Kamaru was not able to take Dricus to the ground. According to the official fight stats, he attempted 7 takedowns but got none, so we had a stand-up fight throughout the whole 5 rounds.
DDP did what he does best, he kept applying pressure and not leaving any room for Usman to execute his game plan. He also attempted to replicate Lean Edward's famous left kick KO, he landed and got Usman rocked, but it wasn't enough to KO him this time.
The size difference was visible, so I'm not sure if Usman will want to stay in the middleweight or move back down. I expect him to have at least two more fights before retiring, provided the UFC will be willing to give him some big enough names to make it worthwhile.
He fought above his weight against a top guy and survived 5 rounds, so I don't think his position in the welterweight ranking will be affected. He's currently ranked 9th (Media) or 10th (Meta).

Just dont forget how many fights Usman already had, his destroyed knees, and he was fighting in a guy who is originally heavier than him, has awkward fighting style and in prime age. Great fight for Usman, even though he has lost. At least he has managed to take 1 round on the card, and fight did not look like beating of an old champ What is next for them? I dont know. I dont think that victory over Usman made DDP closer to fighting for a belt. I do think that Usman will stay in replacement bench for a while and wont retire.

He said his knee issues were as a result of years of constant wrestling in his younger years that led to his knee cartilage getting worn out and causing him pain and i’m pretty sure that’s the reason he couldn’t go for the takedown more often in that fight.

But even at that there’s no denying that prime Usman was a menace. Bro literally cleared the whole welterweight division on a 15 win streak and went ahead to break the record for the longest winning streak ever in UFC welterweight history and second longest winning streak ever in UFC history as a whole….Man’s a legend!

DDP is a naturally huge middleweight and surprisingly kinda quick handed for his size; it was evident in the fight, he was faster at throwing punches than Usman and coupled with his unorthodox style of fighting, Usman wasn’t able to understand his rhythm and that’s why he kept getting caught flush with shots from DDP through out the fight.

DDP is number 2 ranked ufc welterweight fighter, he’s definitely closer to getting the title shot than any other person.

As for Usman, his age is enough reason for him to retire but he himself has not yet stated whether he wants to retire or not so it’s not clear yet what he’ll do yet.

But there have been speculations that he might still fight again at either middleweight or welterweight real soon but even if he doesn’t, it’s not a bad thing at all; dude’s already a hall of famer and former champion. 21-5-0 is not a bad record at all but let’s wait and see whether he still has something in store for us.

McGregor confirmed it was his ACL and meniscus. I’ve had the exact same injury. While I doubt that he sustained the injury during the fight, and I doubt he will ever win another fight, it does seem like he will be coming back to finish off his contract and steal another $30 million from the sport.

I also think his primary motivation now will be to fulfill his contract and collect the remaining money, rather than achieving sporting success. Even if he were to return, it would be very difficult for him to recapture the old McGregor impact. Because of his last two fights, audiences likely won't even be curious anymore I’m certain many people wouldn't even watch his fights. From a career perspective, it’s a shame he didn't retire while he was at the top calling it quits when he held the belt—and was viewed as a participant in one of the world's biggest fights—could have elevated his legacy to a whole new level.

Yup and even if DDP did spectacularly get the win from Usman, I don't think it'll bring him closer to a title shot.  I think Imavov is next for the 185 strap.  And it would be a decent match up imho.    Wish Imavov is a huge underdog for that one.
