Karma Is An Imaginary Cope For The Weak

I’m honestly surprised Conor is still able to attract fans.

That’s because half of the people on the internet still gets hard for a rich Irish chaos gremlin who treats the sport like his own person reality Tv show.

100% abuse, rape
100% drugs
100% doping

0% fighting skills
0% role model athlete profile

But he didn’t get convicted on the sexual assault case he faced back then.
I think it was settled, so there was no concrete proof that he did it.

As for the drugs aspect, i don’t think anyone is disputing that.
Everybody knows Conor struggled with heavy drug use and his chaotic personal behavior that he has displayed in different forms.

His PED usage was evident too.
The only difference is that he has never been the face of a systematic doping scandal before, the way other fighters like Jon Jones have.

I don’t agree with your take on his fighting skills though.

Prime Conor was an elite fighter with a precise left hand and he landed shots with almost perfect timing, he knew how to manage distance and still had the ability to finish off opponents.

Sadly this version of him largely disappeared a few years ago and what remains of him now is just a part time celebrity who still commands attention simply because of his name value and not because of any current competitive merit.

Could Conor be the asshole of this sport?

Well calling him the asshole of the sport is actually a fair take in the behavioral sense. Dude’s been one of the most consistently toxic high profile figure in the MMA for a long time.

But there’s no denying that there are other problematic characters in the sports too; Conor just happens to be the most visible and commercially protected one among them.

If he’d been a little luckier and pulled off a major surprise against Holloway, I’m sure we’d be hearing talk of a belt match for him...

I wouldn’t be surprised if this was the case and especially with the current UFC model, I’d say this speculation is a realistic one.
They organized fights based on which fighter can sell more tickets, pay per views and generate more attention for them, not based on competitive merit.

A big name with residual star power can still get fast tracked toward title contention or major fights even though he has a thin recent resume, especially if they think the match up would be a very marketable one and will profit them greatly.

We really do come to appreciate the importance of decentralization even more in situations like this. In centralized organizations, concepts like fair, objective evaluation, and impartiality are always replaced by major doubts...

I’m telling you that in a more fragmented or independent scene, a fighter like Conor with his recent record and off cage history, he would have a hard time staying relevant purely based off of his fighting ability and terms.

A former UFC fighter, Anthony Smith, has been arrested in Nebraska on 3 felony charges: terroristic threats, false imprisonment and first degree domestic violence assault.
He was released on $500k bond.

It's another case of mma fighter not coping very well with retirement. He had some analyst/commentary gigs going on, but I think this is now over. It's not clear what he has done and whether he's guilty or not, but those charges sound pretty serious, not like something that can be easily shrugged off.

It's a shame that this happened. That's why I always say that fighters need to have more business ventures than just relying on themselves or even traditional investments, so that when they retire they don't depend on a salary. That's why this type of situation still occurs. Let this serve as an example for those who come after.

The stories are going to get worse over time for UFC fighters. The fact that the UFC has made so much money on the backs of people who make basically nothing after training costs is crazy. The UFC needs to start giving ownership stakes to fighters or a good pension plan or something…

I agree, and if you think about it, when a fighter retires, they won't call him an ex-fighter. They'll call him an ex-UFC fighter. This "marketing" will still stick with the fighter and consequently will affect the UFC. If they had some kind of retirement plan, or if they didn't increase the prize money, it would be much better. But I understand that fighters need to act for themselves and not just depend on the organization.

I really dont understand such low odds bookies have for Medic to win against Rodriguez  Shocked
Yes he is favorite to win in this fight, but I dont think he is going to win this fight so easy like bookmakers are telling us.
I am interested to see what Jan Błachowicz can do against Navajo Stirling with perfect MMA record.

Sometimes we use odds to determine who will win. In this case, I believe Medic has a good chance of winning, and there are a few more games tomorrow. Speaking of winning, I believe both fighters already understand that it is difficult to win, which is why I still have a very high chance of winning Rodriguez, but I am also very certain that there is a very high chance that things could change in this game. And I know that it's going to be an interesting game and the case of Jan and Navajo  and I feel like Jan might even win this game just instincts actually.

It's just about time to post the odds for tomorrow's event, for all of the 14 fights:

Marina Spasic x3.45 Vs Stephano Bruna Luciano x1.33
Jovan Leka x1.38 Vs Alexander Poppeck x3.15
Nina Milosevic x1.20 Vs Hailey Cowan x4.80
Mateusz Rebecki x1.14 Vs Kyle Prepolec x6.00
Dennis Buzukja x2.60 Vs Bogdan Grad x1.52
Borislav Nikolic x1.53 Vs Mark Vologdin x2.60
Oban Elliott x3.85 Vs Michael Oliveira x1.28
Ludovit Klein x1.36 Vs Tofiq Musayev x3.25
Milos Janicic x2.02 Vs Noah Gugnon x1.84
Vlasto Cepo x1.32 Vs Gilbert Urbina x3.50
Dusko Todorovic x2.31 Vs Robert Valentin x1.65
Aleksandar Rakic x1.28 Vs Marcin Tybura x3.85
Jan Blachowicz x3.70 Vs Navajo Stirling x1.30
Uros Medic x1.27 Vs Daniel Rodriguez x4.00

I could be wrong, but I think originally the odds for Blachowicz Vs Stirling were a bit closer, but now Jan is a big underdog. I know too little about Stirling, so I don't know if betting on Jan is a good value bet.
I hope Rebecki wins his fight. He's coming off 3 losses in a row. The UFC likes him as he always gives a good show and he was awarded Fight of the Night for two of those losses, but he probably needs to win something to be considered for future events.

What does everybody think of this week's degen parlay?  And what are your best picks for the event?  Wink  Most importantly, which underdogs are live for you guys? I think we need to discuss and argue about the different match ups at every event for us to get better in picking winners...

There's no better way in getting good at something than practice.
The picks you made are good. The only confusion I have is the age of Jan Błachowicz and how he will perform. Navajo Stirling has never had a serious test in his career.

Uroš Medić has the home advantage, whether it will boost his morale and result in an early knockout remains to be seen. Daniel Rodriguez is a volume puncher, and if he wins, it will be by decision. It looks like you are picking an upset here, which is understandable.

What do you think about Aleksandar Rakić stepping into the heavyweight division for the first time, I am not sure whether he is making this a permanent move.

PFL is live now.

[Edited out]

It's a shame that this happened. That's why I always say that fighters need to have more business ventures than just relying on themselves or even traditional investments, so that when they retire they don't depend on a salary. That's why this type of situation still occurs. Let this serve as an example for those who come after.

The stories are going to get worse over time for UFC fighters. The fact that the UFC has made so much money on the backs of people who make basically nothing after training costs is crazy. The UFC needs to start giving ownership stakes to fighters or a good pension plan or something…

Isn’t it crazy that the UFC makes over a billion in a year but yet many of their fighters are still deep in the red and barely have enough left with them after sorting out their camp, coaches, medical and taxes?

You’d be surprised at how wide the gap between the amount UFC makes from many of these fights and how much many of those fighters end up taking home. It’s a concerning issue and we can’t even ignore it at this point because it will always have a way to manifest right in our faces.

Why do you think Francis Ngannou walked away from the UFC? , dude realized that the pay and zero health coverage wasn’t worth the risk anymore and he went where they paid more; seriously i don’t even blame him cos I’d do same too if I was him.

I’ve heard other UFC fighters talking about this issue too at some point, Nate Diaz is one of those that i remember. Dude has been calling out this issue for years but no one fully addressed it and now it’s gotten to the point where plenty of mid card fighters later end up broke, beaten up or even both and it’s a shame on the UFC imho.

At this rate, UFC need to get their asses up and do better for their fighters.

They need to start giving fighters ownership stakes and real pensions; that’s not charity, that’s the bare minimum they could do, considering the fact that their business is being run on other people putting their bodies and health on the line.

I’m honestly surprised Conor is still able to attract fans.

That’s because half of the people on the internet still gets hard for a rich Irish chaos gremlin who treats the sport like his own person reality Tv show.
He has a huge fanbase all over the world. A few times I lied about my nationality, just for fun and said that I was Irish and everyone was asking me about Conor McGregor. Honestly, I'm a little bit in shock that he still has that much influence over the sport because his recent lifestyle has been terrible, he is no longer a role model for many people and he is clearly out of shape.

But he didn’t get convicted on the sexual assault case he faced back then.
I think it was settled, so there was no concrete proof that he did it.

The only difference is that he has never been the face of a systematic doping scandal before, the way other fighters like Jon Jones have.
He used PED for recovery from his injury, I don't see anything wrong here but when it comes to other things, his celebrity status and money definitely helps. That incident with that girl might be true, might be false but one thing is true, he had drug problems and he could get away with it because of his celebrity status and money. If it was another person, they would one hundred percent be in prison for that.

It's just about time to post the odds for tomorrow's event, for all of the 14 fights:

Marina Spasic x3.45 Vs Stephano Bruna Luciano x1.33
Jovan Leka x1.38 Vs Alexander Poppeck x3.15
Nina Milosevic x1.20 Vs Hailey Cowan x4.80
Mateusz Rebecki x1.14 Vs Kyle Prepolec x6.00
Dennis Buzukja x2.60 Vs Bogdan Grad x1.52
Borislav Nikolic x1.53 Vs Mark Vologdin x2.60
Oban Elliott x3.85 Vs Michael Oliveira x1.28

Milos Janicic x2.02 Vs Noah Gugnon x1.84
Vlasto Cepo x1.32 Vs Gilbert Urbina x3.50
Dusko Todorovic x2.31 Vs Robert Valentin x1.65
Aleksandar Rakic x1.28 Vs Marcin Tybura x3.85
Jan Blachowicz x3.70 Vs Navajo Stirling x1.30
Uros Medic x1.27 Vs Daniel Rodriguez x4.00

At a quick glance I don't think I've ever heard of any of these fighters.  Surely I would recognize at least one of them by their appearance.  Still, this has to be one of the less star studded UFC events in recent memory.  Seems like they've fallen to a low point after the White House and Conor events.  I hope the next one is a little more worthy of a watch.  I want to see Paddy the Baddy at least.

I really dont understand such low odds bookies have for Medic to win against Rodriguez.
Yes he is favorite to win in this fight, but I dont think he is going to win this fight so easy like bookmakers are telling us.
I am interested to see what Jan Błachowicz can do against Navajo Stirling with perfect MMA record.
Probably because it is taking place in Serbia and he is representing his home country so he will have the majority of the fans on his side and he has not done that bad in his last few fights.
I am going with the following fighters to win their bouts in this early event:
Mateusz Rebecki , Bogdan Grad , Ludovit Klein , Navajo Stirling , Aleksandar Rakic and Uros Medic.

Another UFC fight event happen so early in the morning for those in North America. Since they are holding this card in Belgrade, they really can be saying this is a fight night any more.

I just finished watching this event and it was amazing, one of the best UFC events I saw in a while.
Main event winner Medic is one of my favorite fighters, he won easily and I think he has a potential to be new champion in his category.
I expected to see more from Błachowicz in co-main event, and I even made a bet on him to win, but he lost easily.

I missed the entire event. Uroš Medić is a knockout fighter in the welterweight division. As long as Islam Makhachev is the champion, I doubt Medić will get a title shot. Since Michael Morales is the backup fighter for UFC 330, he will likely be the next opponent.

Jan Błachowicz is 43 years old and it is highly unlikely he will challenge and defeat anyone in the top five simply because of this age.

Indeed the event was nice. Not a regular filler as we expected. It has set even a new record of number of finishes in one event. 12 fights did not go to judges decision. Funny that to make a new record UFC only need to make card as big as possible Cheesy Cheesy Feel disappointed with Jan performance. Mostly not that he has lost, but his era for sure has ended. Wish UFC would not use him as record and name builder for new guys.

I watched some of the fights on that card, but I couldn't see the vast majority. However, one detail I noticed in the UFC posts is that there were a large number of KOs/TKOs and very few decision wins. This rarely happens in numbered events. Could it be that the less well-known fighters are better than the ranked ones in terms of entertainment value?

Unfortunately, I was only able to watch the replay of the event. At first, I didn’t want to watch it, but Uroš Medić’s impressive finish forced me to watch the replay. That’s because I thought the short clip was a time-lapse video, but when I watched the replay, I realized that was actually Uroš Medić’s speed. He really did get an impressive victory. Also, according to the stats, this fight was his fourth consecutive first round victory, and he’s won all of his UFC fights by knockout...

^  I think some of these match ups are like deciders for who gets eliminated out of the UFC.  Lolol. The co main event with Quarantillo vs Ferreira could be a banger as both fighters will be fighting for their lives in the UFC.  Cheesy Cheesy

I got my money of the underdog as he could be more desperate to win.  Grin

Here are the results of the last event.

As to co-main event, I dont know why UFC even got this guys out of their pocket? Ferreira fought almost a year ago. Quarantillo - almost 1.5 year ago. UFC wanted to blow off dust from them most likely Cheesy These two have been out of work and payment for very long Cheesy Btw both are fighting after being knocked out.

I believe these fights are meant to trigger dismissals; they're pulling these guys out of their comfort zones to fight and prove themselves, otherwise new people will come in and replace them. It's pressure on the fighters not just to win, but to win very well.
