Thanks, it wasn't coming so I guess I forked immediately.  Cheesy

Restarted client and my now I got it thanks. But my blocks disappeared.  Cry

How much did you have?

I didn't count but a while after I started blocks started coming every few seconds so figured something was wrong. Starting to learn how to recognize being on my own fork. Smiley

I'm using SGminer to mine, and whenever I get an accepted, the wallet flashes a payment of 400 - but it disappears - nothing turns up.  What am I doing wrong, please?

Nothing, they are orphaned blocks and are normal when difficulty is low. It just means that somebody found a new block a little earlier than you. Matter of luck, computing power and network latency combined.

Also during a launch of new coin make sure that your intensity is low (17 works fine here) and add --queue 0 --scan-time 0 arguments to sgminer command line. It reduces overall latency of your miner and therefore also number of orphans.

How do you mine directly from wallet?

Please GPU mine or use an external CPU miner from Darkcoin.

Standalone CPU Miner (beta):
Source: https://github.com/ig0tik3d/darkcoin-cpuminer-1.2c
Source: https://github.com/elmad/darkcoin-cpuminer-1.3-avx-aes  (Faster if you have the AES-NI instruction set)
Windows: https://mega.co.nz/#!qwoEUaAC!kiiJoOLHLOfXkzAG7JSq2HQA6rb9X1tPDyvAXMzAvoo
Windows 1.3 avx-aes: https://mega.co.nz/#!L1YgUIwB!_Xby8q1OkZCpatrJAkm9GJXrz2vLvYCiLgIsGFB4ph8

Hirocoin - New unique feature just added. We will be the new home for GPU miners when those Scrypt ASICs hit.
