In the first ODI match between Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka secured victory against Zimbabwe at the very end of the match. Coming into the circumstances in which Zimbabwe lost to Sri Lanka, the Zimbabwean fans and players may have thought that if they could have scored 10 to 20 more runs or if the bowlers could have bowled a little more controlled, the victory might have been in Zimbabwe's favour. Sri Lanka secured a comfortable two-wicket win at the very end of the 49th over. Sri Lanka did not bounce back well from the post-World Cup ban which led to a poor performance against a team like Zimbabwe. The match they won against Zimbabwe was not a total and good performance win but a bad performance win.

Joylord Gumbie was the Vice-captain of the Zimbabwe team and he also is the opener of the Zimbabwe team and his opening is average. He made 30 runs while he used more than balls 37.

He was out by Theekshana, and when he hit a four to Theekshana so Theekshana didn't accept this and he was in an aggression mood on the next ball he gave the ball on the outside off, it was the cover drive ball but he flicked it but the ball was suddenly came inside and hitting the off stump of the wicket. This is how he was out.

Janith Liyanage, from Srilanka made 95 runs in 127 balls and he was declared the Man of the Match. Although earlier Craig Ervine, the captain of Zimbabwe made good 82 runs but this was neglected by Janith Liyanage who played a bigger and better innings.

The batsmen of the team faced a big problem to collect only 208 runs. They lost 8 wickets. Sri Lanka could not have won this match if the lower order batsmen did not bat well. The performance of the Sri Lankan top order batsmen was very poor. Sri Lanka is leading the series 1-0. Sri Lanka is expected to win the series by winning the last ODI match.

In the last over, the Zimbabwean team gave 13 runs to the bowlers, if the Zimbabwean team had given less runs in the last over, it would have been a competitive match. Since only Sri Lanka team won by two wickets, Zimbabwe team must have performed very well in terms of bowling. Now with three formats keeping things at the top level is not easy for the many boards and Sri Lanka is also having finances issue and few other issues are also hurting them badly in last few years now it's time for ICC to act quickly and bring solid policy with keeping few teams for the just one or two formats surely going to help them in long run specially while teams will be able to perform good and having good results which also bring better finances and improve of quality as well.

Sri Lanka is also now having big decline in performance which need good look We need top six teams at the better level with others surely need to be in tier 2 and tier 3 which will bring healthy competition and improvement in quality as well but this all need good look and better supervision from the ICC as well if they are interested to bring better results in this game.

Yes sri lankan players have done a lot in the world the standard of play is very good which i myself believe sri lanka is currently a bit weaker than india australia and south africa but their game name is still considered good enough.  And looking at their activities, it seems that they have the potential to do much better in the future. You are right because in 2023 world cup India performed brilliantly the Indian team did not lose a single match unfortunately the Indian team could not win the champion by losing against Australia in the final match.
