I think this is a very good thing for world basketball because it has been proven that Americans are not untouchable and from other planet.
It is very funny that instead of playing in the grand finale, as everyone announced, we will watch America and Serbia fight for fifth place  
Sometimes it is better to talk less and work harder and fight, as France and Argentina have beautifully shown.

It's expected, it only happens because the US team cannot get the best players in the NBA, this team selection does not have one single superstar here, I hope this is a wake-up call and they should send their best team in the next Olympic.

The US team should realize that other countries have their own basketball program and they need strong players but let's see the NBA superstars seems noncommital anymore on their participation in this kind of events.

It's not that the US didnt want to send their good players it's that most of them decline to go.  The nba season is grueling and for most of them it a real long season so they would rather focus on their goal to win an nba championship instead of the FIBA championship.  Imagine a lineup of steph curry, harden, a Davis, durant and Kawhi on the floor together with lebron, etc on the bench.  These games would be laughable.  I kinda like seeing these young kids getting a chance on the international level and it evens out the competition

To tell you the truth they don't have the best players compared to other USA teams in the past.
They have the best players in the tournament but they are not playing as a team. So this is the reason why they are not so strong compared to other national teams.

Expecting that team US will bring their superstars this coming Tokyo Olympics after losing this FIBA world cup, NBA Superstars will be formed another dream team that will remove all the doubt that they are still the dominating country in terms of this sport. LeBron, KD, Kawhai, Curry, and Davis for the first five for sure fans all over the world will love this team US again and will forget this last performanced.

OH MY GOD!! USA LOST TO FRANCE. I have no idea how did this even happen. First we got Greece getting knocked out during the second stage. Then we get Serbia losing to Argentina, NOW US OF FREAKING A LOST TO FRANCE. This cup is really weird man, I have no idea how it even works anymore, I mean you have the best NBA players of a whole nation coming together and maaaybe 3 decent NBA players on the other team but they lost anyway.

It is incredible and I still can't believe how it happened, I have nothing to say. Whoever bet on France to win would have to be crazy (last I checked it was about 4.40 or so on moneyline) and they would be right now, would have mocked them before game starts but I am the mockery now. I can't believe it, I am stunned man.

Yeah most of these players couldnt scratch the allstar team.  While we wish for another 1992 dream team that will never be matched again.  Sorry but jordon, magic, bird, clyde, Ewing, etc you are talking multiple top 50 hell top 25 basketball players of alltime on the team.

The old roster of the USA team with the one in this world cup should not be compared.
Barnes is a good player but not so good like Harden, Durant or Curry, players that was members of the teams in previous tournaments.

This was really shocking for me as I was expecting Spain vs USA but now look like We have new World Champion and most probably its Spain because right now they have best team and they can win against any opponent as USA is now out of World cup.

That's absolutely right, it's a personal decision and let's not pretend, top players and superstars could give the slightest fuck about any World Cup competitions. I'm sure they'd rather have the off-season to work on their game, get rest or fully recover from a long season than to play international basketball v. no-names and risk getting injured (i.e PG13 '14). USAB should've let Jeff Van Gundy roam the World Cup with his G-League/overseas players. They were pretty competitive against this roster who lost to France earlier today.

Congrats to France. It's not my team, but I wanted to see USA losing and I don't care which team won against them. Guys who said that USA will win World Cup even with 3rd or 4th squad, where are you now?
It was great match to watch, but France just played smarter and better basketball, while US tried to win match with individual skills. I didn't risked to bet on France before match, but I cought quite good live odds on their win.
Semifinals are going to be so interesting with no obvious favorites.

Whatta game we just saw. Incredible game by Gobert lifting his team to victory in the later part of the fourth quarter. I lost my bet on team USA to win the championship but at least right now we know that there will be another country to be the champion of the FIBAWC.

Thats a major upset right there, considering the young big names in the NBA playing for the USA. But, if you have to take a closer look, France really deserved that win, most of their NBA players have won DPOY throughout their NBA career which is very essential to the game.
Guess we will be watching out another set of superstars from the NBA playing for USA in the Olympics after this huge loss.

Ok, I have used google for that and youre right. Gobert was the only player who have won DPOY, I just cant recall and I was thinking Batum became a candidate for the award. They didn't and now they are paying the price because maybe they are underestimating their opponent, I don't know the team USA management will react on this, maybe next time they will be forcing king James and other stars to represent to get back the title as a champion, it's a lesson learned for them.

No blaming please, because if we will do that, we will not be giving the credit to the France which actually played well against the USA.
As usual, eve in the NBA, Gobert is really impressive defensively and they go own by this man.

This is going to be very interesting if France is going to be new World Champion as its not going to happen first time we have many events like this in history where teams came from very low to become champions but I am feeling we are going to have new champion from other Semi Final mean Spain or Australia for me Spain is hot for this year's title race.
