Some crypto betting games are provably fair, while others aren't. When deciding the crypto games to play you should consider it's fairness. (Especially a game that requires luck.) Not all that claim to be provably fair are actually as they say, some are just managed by scammers.

A provably fair crypto betting game would have it's code on Github i.e. open-sourced. That way a developer can easily confirm the authenticity of the claims. Another way would be to use a provably fair tool to check. These tools can be found online.

A friend lost a chunk of his crypto investments to a scammer that claimed his game was provably fair. The owner of the website waited till the website was popular, to accrue more victims. Then he simply closed the website and vanished with thousands of dollars belong to people.

Don't play because others are winning!

That's another tactic the scammer used. He usually gave winnings to a circle of accounts that were managed by him. When you try to compare the losses of the accounts to wins, the wins would be more. He did this to entice his victims.

Be safe!

You did not name the name of the betting site, although it is now closed at least we can have a reference on what kind of betting game that is not provably fair, you are right people should research if the site he is playing provably fair or not and if the site can be trusted to pay winners of their games.

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

On my own opinion I dont really recommend crypto gambling because it is addictive and

Do you mean to say crypto gambling is more addictive than fiat gambling or any other gambling? How could you say so while in fact addictive is personal issue, no matter which kind of gambling you use but if you can control yourself then you will fall into addiction.

there is higher risk on that aside from that most of crypto gambling website are scam so better dont get into it.

You cant generalize like that, there are many trusted crypto gambling sites out there. I wonder why you could say that most crypto gambling sites are scam but you did not even give any proofs? Are you one of those people who cant accept losses on gambling then started to say that gambling sites are scam?

That's why it is better to investigate first on the gambling sites first especially the new ones before diving in, yeah there should be a code open source on Github but that alone isn't making them probably fair and there are still possibilities that they might turn to be the filthy one. I'd probably gamble to the most trusted one and have lots of reviews by the community and that's way safer.
Personal experiences catched my attention when picking a gambling sites, players /gamblers reviews helps awareness in choosing the right place to play, you can research around first before doing any participations, it's best to have a good knowledge before taking the risk of depositing your balance.

You can learned from those feedbacks from known casino websites and see to it if you'll be able to comfortably play along.

For me, the things that you should know before playing a crypto casino or betting game if it's legal/trusted, but some gambler doesn't look that 1st they will examine what game they can play and try the game. Noted that we already finish registering to the site, make sure that you don't put your essential user and pass, especially if you can't notice if it's legal/trusted, most of the illegal site is like a phishing site. But theirs a lot of legal/ trusted site now it's up to you what game you want to play. Smiley

The code of a site being open-source doesn't really matter much unless you're able to read and verify the code's legit yourself or someone else has recently done that for you, though. I do agree that sites should at least have checking tools to ensure each spin/roll is legit when applicable, however.

Almost all games obviously have house edge and are thus -EV to earn the operator profit as well. A lot of people I've met don't seem to realize that, unfortunately, and end up losing money as a result of that. The house wins in the long run.

The site you have mentioned on one of your replies here doesn't seem to be popular, at least on my own view.

First of all, why your friend test waters on the site that doesn't even have a quite good feedbacks and reviews available on any source. We are already risking our money doing gambling so why increase the risk more playing on a not famous site. Bonus? Promos? Perks?

Anyways, the damage has been done. The site is currently offline. No way to recover the funds. But that doesn't stop their shitty service. Surely one of these days, they will comeback branded in a new name. Hope next time, people will only stick to those reputable gambling sites that already established a good name in crypto gambling world.

We should read if the website we want to play has an official thread in the Gambling section and see the feedback there. This is enough to know if the website is trusted or not.The second thing we should check is what kind of bonuses the site offers and what kind of games it offers for the players.
These are very important things we should also be aware about customer support and how fast or slow they are to return our messages
This is what I do before I make a deposit into one of the many casinos
Bitcasino and Sportsbet are very fast to respond to my message and I can play with instant deposits - which is one of my favorite features being offered

Can you name that website?

It's MagicDice. It was hosted on Steem blockchain.
Base on their steemit account --> https://steemit.com/@magicdice

This is their website --> https://magic-dice.com/

And sadly, the website is now unreachable.

Yes, you are right. That is the scammer.

Be safe!

The first thing to remember before we decide to play on a gambling site is how trustworthy the site owner is. This can be found here in this forum because most gambling site admins have account in this place. And the next step is to examine how crowded the site is. Mostly, when more and more people are visiting and using the services of a site, usually, such site will be more reliable. So when we found a new site, don't directly use their services. Be sure to do the analysis first.

I agree with you. The trustworthiness of the site owner is important. However, some crypto noobs are so impatient when they have coins in their possessions, especially if they were into punting before. I felt bad for my friend because he didn't make efforts to learn about the website, he concluded that since it was popular in the steem community, so it is legitimate. Sadly, the owner was using a pseudonym.

Thank op for sharing this important knowledge with us and I have just learned a lot from this your post. I think we are to be careful because of scam gambling sites that claim to be fair but are manipulating the systems. I have play some game and dice and from all the indication I ought to win but it turns out to loses. I agree that fairness should be what we should look for and not the opportunity to win!

Pinpointing scammers would definitely help many gamblers especially the newbie in gambling. IF you have any experience meeting or encountering a not probably fair game with  solid proof evidence that the said site is cheating then you should report it for everyone to know. Application and tools around the net is somehow dangerous, it should be filtered, with no hidden machines that may corrupt your PC or even worse hijack your accounts, so you better list some authentic and proven probably fair tool for checking.

Checking the gambling platform before you deposit your money is a good step to avoid and face on that kind of problem. Just look at the popularity of the website and it must operate at least 6 months or more before we consider that it is a trustworthy gambling site. Looking at a provably fair is on the site, all wagered must be recorded by the system. I strongly advise gamblers that stick on the gambling platform that having ads here in the forum. I think they are safer rather than a not well-known site.

The cryptocurrency accepted gambling sites were providing lots and lots of access to different games which we all know commonly. Apart from this there were more bonus and other features available for the gamblers which we can know only when we explore. Few of which were the bonus based on the total fund that we've wagered, rakeback.

I never heard the website that the OP mentions. I wonder why his friend choose that site if we have so many legit gambling sites which we can select to play gambling. But now, I hope that he and his friend can learn from the mistake so, in the future, his friend doesn't have to make the same mistake. It's not a problem if he uses small money to play and lose that money in the gambling games. But if he uses big money to play gambling, and he loses the money, then that will make him feel sad. Like what @boyptc suggest, next time choose only the legit gambling site and have reputable to play gambling, so he doesn't have a problem.

Me also but to the newbie on gambling , they wont know if the site is new or not and they will just try whatever they see first . as soon as they got scammed , that will be thier lesson to learn and not to trust anything that they see .

Loosing is usual but its bad too lose if you know that your playing on a fake casino that wont enables you to win anything  . he wont only feel sad but he will feel pissed off and depressed after he knew that his been tricked

Checked by doing a good research with the gambling sites you'll going to play before sending your bankroll, most gamblers played in the same
place as they find comforts and they are confidence that they will not be scam and they will enjoy they stay inside the gambling sites.
