Atletico Madrid is like a surprise bag to me as I can't clearly see whether they are ready to attack the top again or whether it could be another average season for them. They also never play a bad season, but to stand up to Barcelona and Real Madrid it takes more than a good season. They did lack the killer instinct in some games, in the close games when they could win it with a one goal advantage and they usually do win it, but last season they couldn't kill the clock in some of those close games and lost points due to an equalizer or lost a point because they got a lucky punch against them.

However, this season there is a relatively high chance that they will still be under Real Madrid and Barcelona on the standings. I don't think the lack of instinct is an issue for them when it comes to building a squad that is worthy of being a strong contender for the title race. They know what is needed to be up against Barcelona and Real Madrid for a whole season. Consistency, consistency, consistency.
