Actually different countries people love different sports. As an example soccer is so much popular in European countries where people of Asia loves cricket very much. American's have great taste on basketball. But soccer relatively much popular than any other game in all over the world. For this reason i think it has got big number of gambling supporters rather than any other sports. From my side like it for its limited time frame (90 min) where some other sports take much longer time to get the result.

I'm not sure with this but if we will based on the highest number of audiences attending each sport then No. 1 would be football followed by cricket so if we assume those audiences are all engaging with sportsbet then they will be on the top board. ( Reference). It's very hard to tell what sport really got the highest gambling supporters but I will go definitely on sports with seasons/series because they are working in a long term basis in which gamblers can bet routinely unlike MMA and boxing fights that happen occasionally. Popularity is also a big factor to consider so my choice might be between football or basketball  . |

In our country, Tennis and Soccer is not a common sport and only few people only know that sports, so we usually take bets on basketball and boxing, I like the stakes at boxing and basketball because there are some underdogs and i like to gamble on that like on the fight of Anthony and Ruiz nobody expects that kind of fight and it's very exciting to gamble on that especially when you win because you will get a lots of money from that.

In my country, most of the most popular sports are soccer and badminton which are always made for betting in gambling, and soccer betting is based on score or choosing a team and badminton betting to choose the player who will win when competing.
and I often bet in that sport when watching with friends.

Basketball and boxing are one of the most popular sports in our country, boxing since one of the most popular boxer in the world is our countrymen, Manny Pacquiao and since that is the most popular, that is also the sport with a lot of gambling supporters in our country.

It depends on the country and its population. Although Basketball is quite most popular in our country, I don't think that it's dominant sport to other countries as well as I see a lot of football fans arround the world who are really willing to watch a live game even if there are only upper box available wherein it's difficult to determine the faces of the players

Reading the OP's main post, the subject of popularity is based on the activity of gambling sports threads here in the forum. He based on the current activity of those threads here in gambling section so I'm not sure if he is taking the discussion in general or limited only on this forum.
If that's in general, OP should disregard the activity of those threads since we all know that not all posters are gamblers itself. Looking at the global general statistics, still, the sport where big money is being gambled is football and soccer. That sport almost involved lots of countries compare to other sports that's why it has a large coverage throughout the gambling world.

I would say it's likely football. It's a big game in Europe as well as Africa and South America. A larger fanbase mean more people that might likely engage in bets.
Due to bias I almost said basketball and boxing though those seem to be more an American and Asian thing.

At my first guess is basketball has the sports that literally has have a lot of supporters. And I made a researched which technically I’m wrong. I love watching football like it’s super entertaining, fun to watch and I can’t just stop loving it and watching it all videos thru internet. That's some surprising research. I expected Basketball and Baseball having fanbase or supporter base at least higher than that of Volleyball and Table Tennis.
In my country we have mostly cricket fans since we stand out at a good rank in international rankings and leagues happen on every year so I think it as a reason. |

I expect soccer to be the top choice, considering the many countries where soccer is the number one sports, soccer is not popular here in our country, only boxing, and basketball, and we do have an ending game here for basketball.
There are a lot of gambling sites that have included soccer in their betting features and in fact, there are gambling sites dedicated for soccer betting alone, so there's no wonder why it is number one.
I guess you are from Philippines. Lots of people from the country seem to like both boxing and basketball. I like basketball too but it's not that common here. Makes me wonder why countries prefer particular kind of sports than other. Are your preferences based on sports your country does well in or it is just a natural preference? |

Well in my own opinion, the most sport with with many supporters is soccer why? it's quite obvious they have a lot of supporters especially in Americas (North, South and USA) and also, countries within part of European Union and of course Africa. On the other hand, the country where i lived basketball and boxing are very popular which makes alot of illegal sport bets when a game of boxing or basketball happens i don't know why soccer left behind since it is a good sport i always watch soccer in my tv in paid cable provider though anyway. I'm just wondering, on what sport does have much popularity when it comes to betting. For I have seen even the last pages of this section has sports gambling topics that was killed long time ago and only few remains and actively running. So, I came to observe on which sport do they like the most, or perhaps which sports does have a most number of supporters here and their reason why they love it the most?
Besides, no one can even predict what will be the outcome, it sure is a Lucky guess (I think).
P.S. I have never been into sports betting, because for I'm not enjoying the thing,... I'd rather play dice than just watching them play for my money. But for me I just prefer Basketball(NBA).

Many people watch football and it has different leagues so I guess it's football/soccer. Here in our country, even we lack the ability to be a pro in football/soccer ( because we're dedicated on playing basketball), I can see some people in social media who like and watch soccer. The football league is way bigger than the others, so I think it has a lot of supporters, means it has a lot of gamblers trying their luck while watching them play. As you can see in many betting sites, there are no single gambling sites that don't have soccer/football. So the answer to this poll is obviously on the google Soccer / Association Football – 3.5 billion fans. Association Football or Soccer.
More fans, more gambling supporters, basically just a linear. |

Very interesting data. I suspected(and said in my previous post) that Cricket, because of its extreme popularity, should have been added to the list. Yet I think that some data from the worldatlas' table, quoted by you, are debatable. For example, in my opinion, Basketball is hardly less popular than Tennis or Volleyball nowadays. I chose the supporters of football gambling is the most. soccer's popularity can't be beaten, everyone in the world ranging from small children & adults, women & men on average definitely love soccer. even around my house, there is a big screen provided by my local government so we can watch football matches together for free. It is not debatable that soccer top the most of betting game. And this is my area of bet that I like so much. It is easier and most researched area that you can easily access the information. Sometimes it is very glaring to predict and win easily unlike many other gambling games.
I don't bet in soccer/football but all of you that said it to have the most supporters/fans are correct. Each region has their popular sports but going country after country, you'll see on how huge the community and fans of soccer/football. Nothing to argue with soccer as number one but in boxing, I think it's not the second. If we're talking about offline gambling then boxing will be the second one, it's also rare when the event happened in Las Vegas because not all of the boxing events are in there. I think basketball was the second one, it has a lot of fans means there's a lot of gambling supporters too.  |
