Dogie, with respect - I don't want to hear the same thing from you as bitmain have been telling me & everyone else here for nearly 8 weeks. I have been in contact with bitmain over this issue here & via email this entire time, warning them about this exact thing happening, but to no avail.

I know you get paid to provide answers, but please don't just repeat what bitmain keep saying - it's patronizing & annoying.

Also, if you are going to post answers for & on behalf of bitmain, please at least try and make sure that your answers are correct & based on information from bitmain themselves. Some of your comments are quite simply wrong, leading to misinformation & confusion to other less experienced miners.

Peace  Smiley

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

You can say 'with respect' all you want but it doesn't add respect to the post if there wasn't any. You're flaming me for asking Bitmain when the firmware is coming and relaying the message - what do you want me to do?

Nothing.

By that I mean stop posting bitmain repeats & wrong answers/solutions. Better off not posting anything.......nothing.

What hate? You think that that correcting your mistakes/wrong answers is hate?.....

That's odd. Most people would appreciate it. Especially in a thread that is supposed to inform people. If I see a statement/answer that is wrong in yours or anyone else's thread, I will make an effort to inform them of it, so that others can benefit from the correct info - and I will continue to do so weather you "hate" it or not.

Well, one thing is clear - better not to buy HW from Bitmain (and mining HW at all, btw), because firmware on that HW will be buggy (as in S4), semi-tuned and will contain not up-to-date software. And they doesn't care about it - equipment is sold already, so no need to do something. Is it called "customer support"?.. Nope.

Then why are you in the hardware subform?

I'll ask bitmain to put one up and host rather than us passing round dropbox links.

Forget about Bitmain helping you out with this - they won't. I've uploaded my S2 image file for you here:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/py9jus9mk3tk21e/bitmain.img.zip?dl=0

Use win32diskimager to format your SD card & burn the image.

Realize that doing this will still leave you open to the "stratum redirect attack" you have been experiencing, but it won't do you any harm to try. The image is the exact same one as I am currently using in my S2's - so it's clean & working 100%. I suggest you hound Bitmain constantly until they do as they promised & release an updated S2 image file with the latest cgminer in it that will fix the security issue.

Good luck  Wink

Because I own a few miners from Bitmain.

Hi guys I was hoping someone could help me with a small issue I am dealing with.  I bought an Antminer S2 that has a couple hashboards that aren't functioning and the LCD and reset buttons aren't working anymore.  I thought that I could just plug the machine in and reset it with a browser window but I am having trouble getting the machine to pull up in a browser window....  The guy who sold it to me said that I needed to set the adapter settings on my laptop to 192.168.0.113 to get into the S2 miner and that I could change it from there.  After setting IPv4 with that information the S2 that is directly connected to the laptop does show that there is a network but when I type the 192.168.0.113 in a browser window it doesn't pull up the software so that I can reset the entire thing and start from scratch...  Do you guys know of something that I might be doing wrong?  Or is there a way I can somehow manually short two points under the broken reset button so that I can start from scratch?

I appreciate any help anyone could give me.

Thanks!

S2s have removable SD cards, remove it, put a fresh image on and go to the default IP.

Thanks Dogie!  It took me a bit of time to find an image file and learn how to format and flash an SD card in Linux (Linux rookie here) but I finally got it done and the machine works great!  Now I just have to figure out how to determine what is wrong with the two hash boards that aren't working to see if I can bust out a soldering iron to fix them.....  I pulled each board out and reseated them to make sure that wasn't the issue.  I thought I saw a couple posts about people cleaning the contacts on the board so maybe I will try that too.  I didn't look close enough at the boards to see whether the boards are labeled with numbers 1-10 to correspond with the miner status page showing boards 8 and 10 that aren't hashing....are there marks somewhere?  Do I have to keep a board in all 10 slots to run the miner or can I pull the bad boards out and run it with the good boards?

Thanks again for the help!

I can't remember which way round the boards are, try pulling one at one end and take a look which dissapears. You can run with as few or as many boards as you like.

When you download the file and send it directly to the S2, you're getting an error? Don't extract it or anything beforehand. Can you screenshot the error please?
