Expectation And Reality In The Current Situation

2019 has been better in all aspects than 2018 for crypto, although we are in a stagnant market right now. When bitcoin started moving from the bearish zone of 3k$+ this year, many thought it will reach another all-time high. This wasn't the case as volatility remains a major crypto characteristic. I think BTC will rise very well next year before the halving news, after wish altcoins will rise. This is my own expectation from crypto market.

Reality is tough, especially in crypto industry. I was hoping that 2019 would be the same as 2017 and that after one year fall, we would finally see some green light, but nothing happened. Only BTC is going strong.

I guess it still hard to hope what we saw in 2017 will be happening in this year because bitcoin price itself is not moving to up to $15k so far, and even the price is down in many times. That will happen too with altcoin, which we can see the price drops too deep following the bitcoin price. But we have a chance to see what happens in 2017 can occur in the next year before or after bitcoin halving.

Bitcoin will be stable again, and that will happen too with an altcoin. We could prepare for the coming, and we should be ready before it's happening later. We still have much time to buy any coins we want so when the time comes, we can sell it at a high price. If you still want to make a big profit, I suggest you buy the potential altcoin because I guess that soon, the altcoin will be rise again before bitcoin or bitcoin first that will increase and then the altcoin.

BTC is ahead of where I expected, most alts way below what I expected.

BTC hitting 10-12K this year, and surpassing ATH around the halvening is around what I expected. Ideally 20-30K+ at the halvening, but at least getting to 20K. My reason for thinking this is basically because this is what occurred during the previous halvening -- after a long crypto winter, btc hit (or got close) to its previous high.

As for alts, I expected them to do the 'fall back as btc rose, regain value during btc's lulls', thing... and slowly increase alongside btc. But so far, that hasn't occurred. There is still time left in the year though, let's see how it plays out.

I like situation right now where some time bitcoin and altcoin have lower price and other time we can take position with bitcoin on the top price, just wait and see.

As far as bitcoin is concerned, it has beaten my expectations. Rising from $3200 to about $13,500+ is something beyond performance. I never expected it as such. As for altcoins they have majorly fallen short of expectation. My altcoins should have been held in bitcoin, I could have been fulfilled by now.

Like others here I also have high hopes for this year but in the end things aren't going the way I expected. I learned a hard lesson after losing a lot of money although it was my own fault. High expectations leads you to bad decisions and when reality hits, it really hits hard. So for this year I try to keep my expectations low so if I fail it woll not hurt so much.

I'm curious what did you did to lose that much money during this year? Did you invested in icos or in new coins? Because that is the only way in which I can explain to myself how you could lose so much money in a year that has been predominantly dominated by bitcoin, I know that people had high hopes of seeing an altcoin season during the spring of this year but at some point it should have become obvious that altcoins were not reacting and the only coin in which investors were concentrating was bitcoin.

In fact, the price of Bitcoin has fallen to $4k and I remain confident that the price will rise again in early 2019, after waiting for 3 months the price of Bitcoin has risen and it is still at $10k.
In 2020 we will see Bitcoin Halving and before this situation occurs, I hope to see an increase in prices by the end of 2019.

In general, I think the market has not been that bad, especially for bitcoin holders. Just that the increase in the BTC dominance had a significant negative effect on the altcoin market. But now that the dominance is correcting, I think things are moving on well for both markets

for now, the things that I hope haven't happened. but I do think that won't happen this month, but most likely it will happen later this year. I expect a high price increase by the end of this year because I feel that the closer to 2020, the price recovery will occur. but, I think the recovery in the price of altcoin has begun to show signs.

Everyone is hoping and expecting that we will have a good year, and until there's still time left we never loss our hope.

This market is so unpredictable, we never know what's coming but it's always good to stay optimistic so we will be prepare for good things that might happen in the future. The market has suffered for more than a year already, altcoins dominant rate have drop to 30% overall, that's the reason why we haven't witness a growth of altcoins but like what surprises we witness in the past, it could also happen in the long run.

I am still not really impressed with the level of adoption that we have, if the adoption had increase, there should have even been pressure on the government now to regulate cryptocurrency which is what we really need now, but government are still not much concern because the population of people that has adoption cryptocurrency is still very insignificant and not of any threat to them.

Although, I would agree with you that this year has been a good year and has we have seen an increase in the value of bitcoin, and I guess it was from that angle that you judge the adoption from, but don’t forget that we have some extremely rich people that just one of their investment could make the market move up and look like we have had big numbers of adoption.

it looks like 2019 is not in line with my expectations, I hope this year the altcoin market will increase again, but in reality the market dominates BTC. I only have a few top altcoins and while waiting for the market to stabilize, at least until the end of this year. if there are no significant changes in my portfolio, maybe I will change it to BTC.

Well my expectation is far to the reality. After we experienced dumping prices in the last year, I thought that this year we can see again the bullish trend just like 2017, but no.. at least it's better than the last year. But there are three months left before end of the year that I still believe that we can see bullish trend.

This year is really a difficult year. Despite the early recovery of the market, the price of bitcoin or some other coins also increased. But that doesn't seem to be what everyone wants. I also have a lot of difficulties trading recently. But hope for a better future

Expecting bullish trend after last bullrun of 2017/2018 is somehow to early if you ask me, that's just like some months difference, if bear do take over the market they always stay longer than when bullrun comes,learn to have more patience, my expectation is still after bitcoin halving

many thought so. but often it's just a nice talk with the hope of experiencing better times soon.
the past year and also the last days show how you can be wrong.
with the halving next year there is hope again but if we will all be rewarded or not we will see then.
