What was the subject of the PM? I would be interested to read the text of the Message if the sender or one of the receivers were to post it or send it to me.
Edit to add: I received a copy of the message sent and I agree the message in question is very similar to an advertising message and is reasonably described as such. I hope the OP can learn from this and will resume participating in the forum after the ban is over. I don’t have data regarding ban lengths for PM spam but the ban length does seem somewhat harsh assuming this is a first time offense. I don’t think the OP would possibly personally profit from the PM, which is something that factors into this opinion.

I don't think it matters much that OP is unlikely to derive profit from his activity, otherwise why not allow people PM spam with their friends' gofundme links. And if he sent people PMs related to the Gapcoin altcoin, he stands to potentially make a lot of money if he's buying them cheap or already has some since it's almost a dead altcoin, but he must popularize it a bit, so why not do it by spamming bitcointalk users.

I am not arguing that what the OP did should be allowed, but rather to account for the specific situation to be a mitigating circumstance. Yes, if he owns a lot of the shitcoin, his PM may result in some people buying the coin and him profiting. I can’t ignore the possibility that the OP may not be actively trying to sell the shitcoin and thus not intending to profit from the PM he sent. I found another example of someone sending unsolicited commercial PMs who was banned for only 7 days. This is compared to the 30 day ban for the OP. I would hope that both the person in my example and the OP will hear that commercial PMs are unacceptable when unsolicited and will refrain from doing so. [edit to add:]This is a different story if the OP is a repeat offender and if this was the case, an escalating punishment would be appropriate

This is compared to the 30 day ban for the OP. Perhaps it's due to the differences in the amount of PMs sent. BitcoinFX has sent >100 PMs (probably within a short time frame?), Hhampuz claims to have sent no more than 4-5 per day or 50-60 per year. Or it could be that another admin or a global mod issued the other temp ban.

Another Rule you should follow. I see you're posting outside of Meta. You shouldn't pm anyone or post outside meta if one of your accounts is banned. 25. Ban evasion (using or creating accounts while one of your accounts is banned) is not allowed.
Already covered that one ... don't people read anything any more ... ? ...snip...
P.S. I've also been informed that I'm not supposed to 'talk' outside of this ban appeal topic (if that's what it is classified as) so aside from my other two posts made using this mobile account - I shall conform to the rules.
...snip...
One of the other on topic posts was deleted without good reason and the other one is here: - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5149062.msg52525839#msg52525839... A reply of yours, quoted below, was deleted by a Bitcoin Forum moderator. Posts are most frequently deleted because they are off-topic, though they can also be deleted for other reasons. In the future, please avoid posting things that need to be deleted. @ChipMixer
BitcoinFX here. This is my mobile account ...
I've identified some security issues with your service that I'd like to highlight to you (nothing to serious), please PM me for more information and/or my email.

Grade capped to B. MORE INFO » https://weakdh.org/ I have screen shots of the tests and the other issues. Perhaps someone who cares will inform them ? I'm a good egg! I actually do care about this stuff. This forum is a community like any other, it's a simple fact about any group or organisation that operates in the public. Times change and so does what can be seen as acceptable. There are rules BitcoinFX is aware of them now. It's a shitty way to learn, when you were acting without malice and inline with what you thought was acceptable. It is however the responsibility of anyone to be sure they are aware of the rules anywhere they frequent.
I did laugh at the part about not having been told to read the rules after they had been created. Makes me think of a terms of service agreement when they update it. Any service generally gets you at login time or something similar forcing you to acknowledge you have read the rules/guidelines. I never thought of it before as they were established long before I got here, but wouldn't it have made sense back then to have mass PM'd the forums user base.
...snip...
1. Indeed. However, having created this new mobile account I don't recall being made aware of any of the forum rules or even being asked to read them !2. Hopefully I'm much more amusing that that ... ?- https://twitter.com/danny_knight/status/1139427428361629696 3. No don't do that !!! Wouldn't that be considered 'unsolicited' , 'bulk' , 'SPAM' !!! ... Thank you for your kind words.

Rules are pinned at the top of the board you're posting on right now. While it would make a lot of sense to also give a link to new users (and theymos did consider that a while ago), it still depends on users actually reading it. If you're posting an appeal and don't read the sticky, and don't read it even after being explicitly pointed to it (as evidenced by multi-posting in this thread) - it doesn't seem like not being asked to read the rules is the real issue here.

That's just a common practice, if you create an account somewhere, be it an online discussion forum, an email account, fb, whatever, and you start messaging a lot of strangers out of the blue trying to sell them something, even an idea, it won't take long before you find yourself rate limited or banned.

Clearly not trying to sell anyone anything. I was imparting free information and knowledge which I though might be of relevance and interest to a select few individuals (by way of Private Message). Other points accepted for the main part. Ignorantia juris non excusat ("ignorance of the law excuses not") or ignorantia legis neminem excusat ("ignorance of law excuses no one") etc., I trust that their is no other vilification (assumed or otherwise) in respect of my account(s) ? ... Welcome back! Notes to self:
...Or to keep it simple, if you have people reporting your PMs, it means you're doing something wrong. Indeed. People are the real problem here, as in the mods. and staff who are continuing to delete my on topic posts. Are Theymos and crew running some sort of covert operation here ? Community support is shown in something as necessary as paying the explorer block
Indeed, it is very revealing of the level of community engagement. The chainz explorer is two days into the grace period before removal and, for anyone concerned about Gapcoin's liquidity (and its consequent functioning as a cryptocurrency), the possibility of its removal is a major concern because that would block any efforts to extend Gapcoin's presence on exchanges. The low volume of GAP trading on Freiexchange is below coinmarketcap's cutoff but not for coingecko. ...snip... Sorting out the block explorer (again) and in-time, hopefully ... Please be aware that bitcointalk forum 'moderators' are continually moderating (deleting) my on topic posts in many threads, seemingly without any good reason whatsoever! I hate to say this....
But if supporters of this coin wish to have a pool - with my help - I will need some help with knowledge.
I have purchased a domain and been constantly tinkering with pool software as time allows, I have more azure credit I can use for a VM to host the site/software.
I have googled and asked in many forums and discord channels with minimal help received.
As much as I love the concept of this coin, I can't do anything but mine the coin unless someone steps up and helps me figure things out on the coding end.
I do not wish to waste my efforts nor anyone else's.
Your efforts and input are appreciated, however, pool development is unfortunately not the major priority currently. The development of Gapcoin core and new software releases are currently more essential for the project. Realize that these developments (as they happen) are also likely to change the working 'old' pool / code implementation. However, if you can get it running then great! As long as your main inventive is seeing increased network hashing power and the discovery of larger prime gaps over personal profit. ... According to theymos the above is supposedly in breach of rule 32. Posting multiple posts in a row (excluding bumps and reserved posts by the thread starter) is not allowed.Perhaps ... ...snip...
It is not good that posts disappear without a trace there should be a small line with a Post has been deleted and by which user and the reason visible to everyone why it was taken down.
...snip...
... However, if what effectively becomes one (massive) post in 24 hours per thread with individually quoted responses and line beaks (to answer unique users responses is what is required to make forum censorship moderation simpler and to avoid a changing narrative, then so be it. Moreover, I still do not remember being asked to read or to re-read the forum rules, which also did of course not exist when I originally registered here. All of this is such a waste of time. Congratulations on messing up the bitcointalk forum and restricting long-term supporters of the project.
