Wat do I do after that?

Counting down to your launch though!

If you compiled everything successfully, that's it for now.
Just wait for the launch.  Wink

Also: "The source code will not contain the neccesary Proof of Work functionality, its only to set up and test compile environment."

-You gonna push this on launch? Or just binaries?

Yes, the entire source code will be published at launch.

Have you contacted pool operators/worked with pool code so that this is a possibility at launch?

Have you worked with GPU miner devs to develop a GPU algo for your PoW code?

This is in progress, but probably we won't have a pool right at the start.

Also Gapcoin is currently CPU only.
Is TVT a shitcoin right now ? I mean, it will be the clash of the titans between TVT, Flappycoin, Dojecoin and Tittiecoin ? 1TVT = 1 tittoshi in aprox 2 months ?guys can anyone confirm that TVT does not use a mixer to create anon transactions. if so, then TVT is the best anon out there

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.
Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction.

@BitcoinFX Nobody cares what you are up to. The coin and its honeycombed structure of interlaced networks is marching ahead at a steady pace which will accelerate to gallop before Chinese new year. Times are changing, you are either with us or behind us. The stink is hovering in the air while the air is hovering in the space as an illustration of the universal law of embedment which also gives some philosophical pretext to the possibility of the perpetual machines of the first kind.

What is TVT? GAP has no ties to it.

...snip...

Thanks for that one! What is this even supposed to mean?

Would you prefer that I switch off my Gapcoin nodes (including Tor nodes) + the gapcoin.club website, that I cease paying for the only block explorer and stop trying to get Gapcoin listed on new crypto exchanges etc., ...

... or perhaps are you just trolling this thread for arguably the most brilliant math coin to grace bitcointalk ... where the developers seemingly passed away in tragic circumstances.

Images from printed primes

Inspired by James McKee's Numberphile video and subsequent "Futility closet" post on the "Trinity Hall prime", physics researcher Gilles Esposito-Farèse discovered a prime number that, when printed, forms this image.

(more images on Gilles' page (ref above).

Elsewhere, it has been discovered that primes conspire amongst themselves: https://www.quantamagazine.org/mathematicians-discover-prime-conspiracy-20160313/

Nope. Gapcoin is most certainly very much alive. However, the OP most likely has very sadly passed away.

Gapcoin is an important Math based cryptocurency that actually broke and seemingly still holds the world record prime gap.

Prime gap's ...

"As of December 2017, the largest known merit value and first with merit over 40, as discovered by the Gapcoin network, is 41.93878373 with the 87-digit prime 2937032340680225901587237661044194634257090755748117620985887982178957288586767 28143227. The prime gap between it and the next prime is 8350."

We can break new records using Gapcoins existing proof-of-work. You can mine Gapcoin with your computers CPU in-wallet currently, just like you could with Bitcoin circa <2009-2010+ (for it to be worthwhile) ...

The Gapcoin project is maintained here: https://gapcoin.club

With growing community interest a new thread [ANN] is very likely indeed. Gapcoin is a genuinely amazing cryptocurrency project and has been ignored under the radar for to long.

...

P.S. Chatter is not off-topic and concerns Prime numbers / historical computing, as does Gapcoin.

Dr Thomas Nicely

I'm saddened to learn that Dr Thomas Nicely died Wednesday, September 11, 2019, as a result of injuries sustained in a recent car accident.

I'm working my way through his website, saving the content for curation purposes (but I imagine that the internet archive has it all safely stashed) intending to explore the possibility of establishing the Gapcoin community as de facto collective curators of prime gap records.

Cheers

Graham

Very sad news indeed.

Whois Record for GapCoin.org

trnicely.net has gone offline ... I'm editing links for Dr Thomas Nicely records / website at https://gapcoin.club to:

...

"Source Site Down

Thomas Ray Nicely died September 11, 2019.

His internet site (trnicely.net) stayed up through November, but is defunct now. That site was the main source for news about prime gaps.

Is anyone planning to take over the dissemination of prime gap results?

In particular, the files allgaps.dat and merits.zip need to be kept updated, perhaps quarterly, at least annually, and made available at least on an ftp internet site.

The main problem would be in the checking of new gaps. A modern fast multicore machine would probably be needed.

If someone does this then please add a date code to the filename, perhaps merit201.zip and algap201.dat for the first ones in the year 2020. That way someone would not accidentally overwrite older data.

If there is already another internet site with this information, then what is the URL?

agb — Preceding unsigned comment added by [IP Address Redacted] (talk) 19:32, 10 December 2019 (UTC)

The last version of trnicely.net is mirrored at https://faculty.lynchburg.edu/~nicely/. https://gjhiggins.github.io/ is apparently planning to continue the record keeping. PrimeHunter (talk) 01:02, 11 December 2019 (UTC)"

...

Interestingly enough PrimeHunter would appear to be Jens Kruse Andersen of http://primerecords.dk

- https://oeis.org/wiki/User:Jens_Kruse_Andersen

The gapcoin.org domain is currently registered with Ascio Technologies, Inc. Denmark, a coincidence ?

Guess we will have to see what happens when the domain 'expires' end of May 2020.

...

Gapcoin has already made Math history! So much for the bitcointalk 'community' these days ... Tongue

Everyone (anyone?) OK with myself starting the new [ANN] thread ?

Works for me, a new fresh insight might help!

I'm still piddling around with making a mining pool as time allows, I used up all my "free credits" for the vps route. But I have a small personal server that im using to toy with. My time is limited but I have a much better grasp on what might be needed to make a functional pool.

Brilliant work!  Cool

I have added the links to https://gapcoin.club along with a link for mersenneforum.org - Prime Gap Search Group page:

I will register on the forum soon and perhaps attempt to give away some Gapcoin!

My focus is now firmly on increasing adoption, following some new exchange listings, hopefully.

Indeed.

Graham has sadly informed me that he is presently out of all cryptocurrency development, including Gapcoin, due to ongoing health issues.

We hope to see him return at some point in the near future.  Undecided

...

This truly amazing project (a genuinely excellent use of Bitcoin PoW technology) is continually thwarted at every turn it would seem ...

Perhaps things will change for the better soon or math and cypto history is destined to be 'lost' forever.

The potential with Gapcoin is still very great indeed.

On April 15, 2020 the voting will be closed and will be THE LAST OF THE YEAR
Coins that have earned 5 or more votes, or have deposits of 0.1 LTC or more, will be added in the next few weeks

Maybe a good chance to get Gapcoin listed in a second exchange, either for free if you can convince 4 people using the exchange to vote or cheaply if you can send 0.1 Ltc to the vote address.

I didnt realise we had someone 'famous' on the forum like that, probably a few people kinda undercover with this level of knowledge around who I dont know about exactly.   I remember the Pentium bug from the time, it was a big deal but also easily missable until important I guess.   Ive used prime number tools for cpu stress testing, so might take up this wallet as its been forever since I was able to CPU mine coins, I have a spare modern 8 core intel cpu that would be great at this maybe and even 12 cores are available from old servers for good prices second hand last I looked.   I wish BTC had never moved on from being widely distributed in mining with full involvement of anyone and everyone possibility.
