You know how this is going to end. You might be trying to lie to yourself, you might be secretly hoping that some token in your "portfolio" that you have 10 million of is going to moon to $50 and make you rich, but let's be real: that is not going to happen. Even the allegedly strong altcoins like LTC or ETH or whatever is cool these days (I've been out of this game for a while) are not doing well and BTC dominance is growing. Which makes sense if you think about it. BTC can do most of what any altcoin can do and the few really useful features that BTC is missing (private transactions for example) are implemented by multiple altcoins, fragmenting their market share.

And the elephant in the room: 99% of altcoins are total garbage. They're called shitcoins for a reason.

Sell your altcoins and tokens. Take the proceeds in BTC, stick it into a cold wallet, keep some online to play around with Lightning and other things that actually matter for real-life stuff, like being able to buy something. When was the last time you were able to use for example Ethereum for something tangible, not to buy some garbage tokens or to play a game?

Do it today. Your grandkids will thank you.
I admit that most of the altcoins are not worthy of any investment or something but I do think there are still good altcoins just like Ethereum, BNB, LTC and more. I think altcoins are not doing good is just because we are still in bear trend even Bitcoin is affected just like what you have mentioned. I think you should still consider to place an investment in some altcoins like in Top-ranked coins since they have the capabilities of giving a high return just like what Bitcoin can give.

Yep i've done the same thing i think the biggest winner of the crpyto market will still be bitcoin but Litecoin and ETH could still be viable investments especially when those altcoins has really dump and corrected this past BTC recession. If a major rally occurs, this coins could join BTC when it rally.
I still think having an competition like altcoins is a healthy thing for bitcoin in order to grow and progress.

Altcoins are going to be great again, no way Bitcoin is going to do everything alone. The time will come, when BTC domination will decrease and this will open doors to all altcoins to finally increase their price.
For how long? It's really so tiresome watching your altcoin portfolio decrease in time, it's best to take out your profits when you can because they might keep losing more value right in front of you

Damn these thread was right since it was written nearly three months ago, if im listen and consider it, i might save some cents of my money! and i was able to buy more if i buy those altcoins in todays price. But its too late already i'm done selling despite losing some of its value. I hoping that in 2020 it will be more favorable market condition to all of us so that we can get back our losses.

it won't be too pleasant for holders who really like to diversify assets and actively trade every day, all activities also have different calculation strategies. Many also think long-term where holders will continue to believe that the altseason will again make calculations more profitable than just saving bitcoin, they accumulate stably until the expected time arrives.

A lot of the investment experts tell us not to get emotionally attached to the assets in which we invest in. Most of the times, the investors are reluctant to sell a particular asset at a loss. They hope that sooner or later, it will recover at least some of the value and they will be able to sell at break even prices. But in 90% of the cases, such a recovery never occurs and the investor ends up losing all of his investment.

There's this my friend that has 1million token of a particular altcoin. He keeps hoping and dreaming that the price of the token he has to reach at least about 0.001 so that he can sell it. He has waited for about a year plus for the price to increase but it's all avail.
He prefer not selling his tokens for smaller amount likewise me.

I have passive portfolio where I hold the profitable coins in the cryptocurrency market, I hold it because of the data that I got from my analysis. I do not hold illiquid altcoins because it is so risky. I only hold highly liquid cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin and ethereum because these kinds of coins have high market demand and value.

Actually, if you have a goal to sell it, it doesn't hurt to do a hold, but you need to think about the obstacles when doing a hold. if you have enough mental strength then hold it for a long time will be able to do, plus we have to see the potential of altcoin invested

I can't help but keep laughing about what OP is talking about, as if bitcoin can do it all alone, do you even know how many merchants accept ETH, LTC, XRP and other altcoins as means of payment? Where we are heading now many coins will surely be accepted as means of payment, altcoin time will come

I still have my altcoin and tokens for almost a year after recieving them but their price stays the same. Its up to project if its for long term or just a pump and dump project.  I believe that the tokens i hodl is for long term investment.

That is good for you because that is a rare case when it comes to altcoins. Most of the altcoins that are being rewarded to the bounty hunters are just for quick bucks. If the technical data and fundamental data of the altcoin that you received are solid then that is indeed a good for long term investment. Keep it on a safe storage like hardware wallet.

Since the beginning of crypto bear market in 2018 I haven't seen a bounty token worth keeping for long term, I missed the good bounties of that year and that of 2019 too, the few tokens I own are not doing so well, my advice is to keep less tokens and focus more on coins instead

Although I also hold some altcoins, I also agree with you, but now the price is worthless, no difference from zero, I do n’t know if it can be sold, but I can only put it wherever he is, Looking back on the Bitcoin bull market, I don't know if it will surprise me a bit. Looking at the forum comments, I think many people are similar to me.

indeed the fact is like that, I have a few coins that I hold long enough, but now the price is getting destroyed and making me frustrated. I prefer fast trade than holding Altcoin for too long.
but maybe I will try to buy if the price of the coin is very low and hope this year bull or alt szn happens.

To make it an easy investment and to lessen your frustration on the market, you could stick to two options that can be used hand in hand, choose an altcoin and a stable coin or bitcoin paired with a stable coin. Because mainly the reason we get frustrated from the market is because we hold allot of altcoins where we struggle to monitor especially if most of it falls into a state of decline. But if we just hold two cryptocurrrency both hand in hand, then we could have more time to observe it and our frustration will be lessen.

How many of you guys have listened to OP advice? i hope you don't, the little recovery that happened yesterday makes all altcoins turned greenish on coinmarketcap, the fact is crypto will remain unpredictable so better hold on to your precious altcoins and be brave
Better to sell while you can rather then selling it when it dropping.. I would sell all my altcoins and buying some top 10 coins on coinmarketcap. I would not dare to hodl any new tokens cause it always failed and dying faster then the top 10 coins on coinmarketcap.
For the new coins themselves, I agree with you that many new coins will eventually become worthless and only become junk in the wallet. And I personally will also sell tokens that I get when the tokens have a small value compared to deciding to keep holding it and in the end it actually has no value in exchange.

Anyone who abide by this crypto rule that says 'invest only what you can afford to lose' will always come out with flying colors, selling all your coins and tokens because market is in bad shape is a wrong idea, the best idea is never to rely on a single coin when investing

I would rather disagree with you on that. However, I agree that it is always better to diversify your investments. The problem here is that this logic cannot be applied to cryptocurrencies. The reason is that Bitcoin is the only original cryptocurrency. All the other altcoins can be considered as copycats, which were created in order to profit out from the hype created by Bitcoin. Therefore if you invest in currencies other than Bitcoin, the chances are low that you will be getting positive returns.

in fact, sometimes newly launched tokens might have an opportunity to increase their value in the future if the project has a strong and trusted team that can develop related projects in the future. but lately there are many new tokens that have no value at all in the market and only become worthless coins. therefore most people don't want to last too long on new types of coins, when they are still valuable most of them sell coins immediately because they don't want to risk too long
