Have someone with you when you play and this is not only to remind you that you need to stop and play another because you already spent a lot and lost, this is also to remind you to set aside a portion of your winnings to avoid spending it together with your initial funds.

I myself use the strategy to spend X amount of money for one week. I mean, I'm issuing rations to play gambling and I freely to using them with one consequence if I lose the money although I just spend them in one gambling place then I'll never try to make any deposit again.

Everything stems from greed and our emotional attachment when it comes to money.

In gambling, the vicious cycle starts when you continuously gamble with the mindset of earning money, which would eventually cascade into losses especially if you lack the self-determination and will to stop. What makes things worse, in times of losses, you have this feeling of wanting to recover your losses but only to result into further losses.

How about curiosity? We know that when we are curious about something, we will find the right answer. I think that is happening in gambling. Bring enough money on the casinos and budget your money, if you can’t afford to lose more then you must not bring huge money and don’t bring any of your credit cards. Its not easy to control yourself when you are already in the casinos, but do everything to control yourself and just have fun.

I don’t think that this practice is such common among all gamblers, maybe a few persons that are yet to master their habit of self-control. Its necessarily not greed because I have been fortunate to be in the midst of people like this and some do not even play for money but to quit is always a problem for them and I practically understand such feelings because I have been a victim before.

Sounds like a working idea. Previously I have heard people are blocking gambling sites to prevent themselves from gambling. I read some ISP/modem setting are also being used for blocking gambling sites. When we gamble under parental or any family member guidelines, we may easily stop after some times of gambling, regardless of we make losses or profits.

I have seen many gamblers who are all finding it hard to stop even their main motive is entertainment and not making money out of gambling. I mean it would be too hard for all the gamblers and it does not need to be only hard for the gamblers who gamble for money. Gambling's addicting nature play a role making gamblers persisting with gambling and that addiction may happen when you gamble for money or you gamble for fun; no exceptions.

I guess quitting gambling completely could be the only solution for not spending money in gambling. Because, all gamblers may fail one day or other in controlling them from spending big money in gambling.

What I doing sometime is playing with my wife,we go to casino together or even online gambling so she will be telling me if the amount spent is enough .
And also if we are in winning,she will ask me to go home and stop playing so we saved the money and not letting lose everytime .i don’t know if someone’s doing the same but for me?its my way of saving myself from becoming greed

The way I handle things is as follows (as a poker player).

First I'll play a low stakes table for a while just clearing up the fishes, getting myself warm before heading over to the 5/10 or 10/20 table.

Here, I'll sit at the table that has the most fish and least pros (if known). This automatically reduces my odds of losing by a large degree.

Once done, I'll set myself a threshold of how much of my stack I'm willing to lose, e.g. 50-75%, depending on who I'm playing with.

If I'm against solid opposition, I'll cut my losses at 50%, whereas if I'm just getting a bad beat against noobs I'll hang in there until 75%.

I know the statistics, so it's not hard for me to cut my losses, since I know that my wins represent an average across time. I can take the hit.

This is another good idea of going out with family if you cannot resist yourself and still want to play. So your family will let you know and will ensure you move away after certain amount if lost.
