That is the link you get by navigating from the AMD home page, but it doesn't work.  You have to change "amd" to "ati".

Nope.  My guess is it doesn't fix it on Linux either but I am not going to try.

100% CPU bug is partially fixed on Linux now. Much better than before, still worse than pre-2.5.

Thank GOD.  Now if they could just make their drivers work without any xorg.

For OpenCL work no need to even have a windowing system.  I mean anyone thing a 100K node supercomputer is going to have xorg running on each node.

If they want to get serious they need to kill dependency on x server.  Would be nice to have an ultra small command line only distro running cgminer.  A miner can dream right?

Well, considering my whole OS fits on a 4GB USB and actually requires less than 1GB for the base system, I don't really see it as an issue for your typical person who mines.

As for command line only distro (console boot) ... well there is even a dependency in the kernel for the graphics drivers.
A few years ago when all the shit about nVidia not doing what the kernel developers wanted was happening (kernel developers decided they were god and that they wanted to try to force nVidia to produce a free opensource driver instead of just a free driver i.e. kernel guys trying to be Microsoft), some kernel programmer had the stupid idea of requiring the kernel graphics driver to even boot to the console
Before this change it used a small simple VGA driver that supports pretty much every card ever created and loaded the graphics driver only when you started X
Now even the console boot requires the full graphics driver for the card - of course you don't need all of X, but there is still that driver requirement.

After upgrading to catalyst 11.11, I did the distro upgrade to oneiric 11.10.  It works fine. FYI.

Curious about windows.

Tell me about it...thinking about just switching over to a linux install and throwing cgminer on there.

Just noticed a problem with the startup module.  When I put the script to start cgminer to start at login(via the gui), some of the cpu cores gets pegged (125% cpu), however, simply starting the script in a terminal yields normal type cpu use.

I am fairly new in linux, but really happy with it, haven't used unix since college, what a change from SunOS. Cool

If your bios supports the pop up boot from menu, it is much easier to try out(provided you have a hard drive to install linux on). No dual boot issues, just bring up the bios menu and boot from any drive.--even usb drives.

Yeah, I followed the guide to get cgminer + xubuntu on a USB...but I failed and used a 2GB with 1 GB persistence; thinking it would be enough space.

Sadly mistaken.  Just gives me a good reason to go out and buy a 4 or 8GB Cheesy
