@LoyceV has a good share in the B&H board: How to lose your Bitcoins with CTRL-C CTRL-V. I urge everyone to read it very carefully so as not to be a victim by those cyber criminals.

This is not really a new scam but not many users are aware of it. On Reddit, it was discussed extensively, please be enlightened  and secure your BTC. https://www.cryptoinfowatch.com/hackers-are-using-clipper-malware-to-steal-bitcoin-from-users/

Hackers and scammers are very creative in finding new ways they can be able to successfully steal something from innocent people and since the possible prize can be good these evil people are really focusing their time, skills and resources, so they can be on the top of their game. We should be careful with anything we are downloading and maybe we should also be demanding for platforms to do their part of verifying app publishers before they are allowed on board. It is always unfortunate that as technologies are growing by leaps and bounds so does the scams and hacking strategies.

Thank you for such usefull information, i actually never heard of such.

Still considering the fact the news state that:
Windows 10 includes Cortana, which cannot be removed. This is a keyboard logger ( amongst other things ), and stores all of your info and communications in the Microsoft cloud.”

That is not exactly true....
You can easily install Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC and not have such bullshit stuff from Microsoft.

Those who have online accounts not just for crypto or bitcoin should always be aware of their accounts, emails, websites they visited. They must be able to learn how to secure themselves since it's a online space and many is just waiting for some users to be a victim. Don't be phished ,use 2FA and don't visit download links that came from random users.
the best way?limit ourselves entering sites specially those links that was sent to us.and even those legit sites that we used for long are now prone to hacking tools from the hackers.
i just cant find those threads that tackles issues about legitimate sites like Playstore and others.if we have nothing important to look at or download for, better keep away from any random sites.

Yes I have heard about this already. It's scary to think that you might lose your coins unknowingly because of this kind of malware. Even though you're being careful, it would still be hard to notice the changes in the address. Now that cryptocurrencies are slowly becoming a thing, hackers are also becoming inevitable and they're finding more ways to hack people. Let's be more aware of these kinds of things to be cautious and careful with accessing the different site, with our addresses, and opening our accounts.

I've always had a bad feeling about how these malwares can change our copied address and input a hacker's address but i never thought it would be done in such a clever way such as this. We all need to be very careful whenever we are sending funds to any person. I double check my address entirely before hitting the send button. The patience is always worth it!

We need to always double or even triple check for the address before we click the send button. I heard that story too, and I've got another story from my friend infected by that malware. He was so lucky because he can buy a new laptop so he can moves from the old laptop to a new laptop, and he doesn't worry about that malware anymore.

I think the hackers will search another way to steal our funds, and they will use many ways to get the money. But as long as we can avoid and we can secure our wallet and always check the wallet address and make sure that the wallet address is right, then we can continue to proceed.

Wow, I've never heard of this scam and I always copypaste the address and never fully check it before sending money. I usually just check the first and the last couple of characters... And while this malware seems to make only the first characters the same while the last ones are different, I'll try to be more vigilant from now on... I've also heard of another scam scheme recently, which involves the QR-codes. It was surprising to read that scammer QR-code generators often appear on the first page of google search. When a person generates a code and someone scans it, it's actually sending money not to the initial address but to scammers. Luckily, I never use QR-codes, but the scam you've mentioned got me thinking that one can never be too careful.

This type of fraud exploits user carelessness. Each time I double-check the addresses several times, because it is very scary to be deceived when you do not suspect it. Thank you for reminding us of this!

Indeed, people should be careful from malware and virus because it can damage your PC as well as Hackers using small programs to even hack everything in your laptop. I'm usually safe my important documents like private keys and secret stuffs into flash disk or even on my external hardrive because it's also there's a risk that my computer will be hacked.

If you guys can't find a good antivirus then a thumb drive is a good choice to hide your important files or the private keys of your bitcoin. That would safely remove your chances of getting hack and of course it would be better if you stay away with the obscure websites because those are the potential sites that would give you a headache.

This is a very old scam. I lost a few dollars to it when I didn't know about it and used a wallet I downloaded form the android google store. So do not just use just any old wallet. The wallet I used has this built into to OCR camera QR captcha so it would replace when I scanned for something else. Very nasty and easy to fall for and even forget. Always use official wallets that are trusted and always 100% make sure and even check 3x or more the receiving address. Than just before you hit send a check again. I have a lock on my send that asks me for a pin. This gives me time to slow down and think about the transaction. Always have some form of confirmation in place to slow the proccess down and give you more time to think. Always double-check everything. Do not forget to double-check the bitcoin value sent.

Everyone should know how to the secure use of bitcoin. Bitcoin is the most valuable online crypto coin. So some of the hackers want to theft bitcoin from others' wallets or exchange. When you use BTC wallet in any site you should know these sites are secure or not. If the site isn't secure then don't use your BTC address or Pkey. You can secure your BTC wallet some digital way.

they are great in the field they choose and we cannot blame others for being a victim because at any chance even how secure our assets in crypto still we are prone from becoming a victim because these hackers are just looking for the right timing to take us.
but thanks for sharing this at least there is something newbie can read to at least prevent in small ways being a victim.

Exploits using clipboard (most known as copy-paste method) are common in cryptocurrencies. That's why one should be wary that installing pirated applications (which most likely includes malware) would increase risks of losing funds when also using that device in handling large transactions of cryptocurrencies. It's much better to stay safe and avoid installation of such programs to not be victim of such exploits.

There are so many issues like these. A malicious malware that automatically changes the bitcoin address. That clipper malware makes you feel it was the correct address because of the first four letter or numbers the same with the copied btc add.

Double checking the btc address is really significant when sending it to the other parties. We aren't aware that we have been downloading such malware when we are downloading in a non trusted apps and secured sites. The first thing to do is to take awareness within ourselves.
Copy-paste viruses, right? it can contaminate your device if you download certain applications without you even knowing, so automatically the wallet address that we enter will change. I also just found out that the address until it looks similar, as you explained, really has to double check, don't just look at the beginning or the end should be examined as a whole.
This kind of thing has even happened since a few years ago, we must pay attention so as not to get caught up in this manipulation. It is very painful to lose assets, especially important assets that have been carefully guarded.

where there is every chance there is a crime, all these problems go back to ourselves how can I avoid cases of hacking like that, honestly I have never accessed my bitcoin wallet on my smartphone let alone use a special smartphone wallet, I also never used other people's computers let alone other people's laptops except your own personal computer and laptop

I feel sorry if anyone has lost their BTC because of their carelessness, if I were they maybe I would double check my wallet address if I wanted to transfer big money, if only small money I didn't check the wallet address again, I hope there are many lessons obtained from this case so that it does not happen again in the future

There are uncountable such hacks in crypto world and can be easily avoided by paying little more attention every time you made a transaction.
I always store my keys on plain paper not on computer, storing your keys on online/computer and accessing your coins from everywhere looks cool but you are giving opportunity to hackers.

if the burning paper will eliminate everything, it's really dangerous because we don't know when the disaster will happen, have you ever watched a hacker movie? have they ever hacked without touching what they want to access, make it a habit not to lend our laptops or computers to others even if they need them, because the most important thing is that only we access our money and make sure laptops and computers are never used by people other

I thought I had experienced this just a week ago that is why I secured everything with 2FA and other things that should be done for security.
I don't really know if it is a virus or whatever it is.
Mozilla Firefox keeps on popping out like a notepad or something whenever I press CTRL. And when I press Shift all the opened application will just be closed in an instant.
Tried researching it but no answer was found in google.
Formatted my laptop just for security and also tried a new anti-virus application.
Some good people here said that is the cue for that copy paste malware thing. Good thing I am doing transactions at my smartphone before it happened.
