The cost of a Corsair 750 PSU significantly impacts the profitability of an Antminer S1 at this point.
Has anyone tried buying a 850W or 1000W PSU to power two S1's at a time?

Please share your experience!

second page of review  states a 1 year warranty and bro I would take it for free but I would never buy a psu with a 1 year warranty

I was building servers long before miners, love Corsair.

Quiet, cool, 5 year warranty, cool ship logo....

The RM1000 is @ $199, will outlast your miner, comes with a proper cable for each board, and has a decent resale value:

Very nice setup btw!

I see you have 50 antminers, about 10 TH/s if you run them at 200 GH/s each. Has this rig farm been profitable for you? How many BTC do you generate per day?

I use a Corsair RM850 to power 2 antminer S1. Works perfectly.
2 miners draw 730W from socket.

It's cheaper to get the Corsair CX500 (compared to a Corsair 750W or 850W for two S1s) to power each S1 at stock clock which draws up to 390WAC (usually around 385WAC) at the wall if equipped with a second high-volume "pull" fan.  At 85% PSU efficiency, the S1 demands up to 332WDC (390WAC*85%) from the CX500 which results in a 73% loading (332WDC/456WDC) on the PSU's +12V rail.  It seems there's some headroom if one is inclined to OC the S1 and push the CX500 a bit (I have no idea how much since I haven't attempted overclocking and don't plan to).  Having a dedicated PSU for each S1 also affords flexibility and the ability to avoid having more than one S1 to go offline when a single PSU ceases to function.  Best of all, ATX PSUs are PNP (no soldering needed).

The CX500 can be had for even less since the Egg always have $20 rebate offers and instant discounts (promo codes) for them quite regularly which could bring the actual cost to at least half.  Since I've been purchasing these PSUs since last year and have acquired a few $20 rebates from Corsair in the form of $20 Visa prepaid cards,  I've been able to get them at no cost at all.  The rebate cards have to be converted to Egg gift cards and apply them to the purchase.  Currently, there's no rebate offer on the CX500 at the Egg but the CX600 (with additional $12 off w/ promo code), CX500M (Modular) and the CX600M (Modular) do have it.  Here's a comparison chart:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Productcompare.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007657%2050001459&IsNodeId=1&bop=And&CompareItemList=58|17-139-027^17-139-027-TS%2C17-139-028^17-139-028-TS%2C17-139-050^17-139-050-TS%2C17-139-048^17-139-048-TS%2C17-139-010^17-139-010-TS&percm=17-139-027%3A%24%24%24%24%24%24%24%3B17-139-028%3A%24%24%24%24%24%24%24%3B17-139-050%3A%24%24%24%24%24%24%24%3B17-139-048%3A%24%24%24%24%24%24%24%3B17-139-010%3A%24%24%24%24%24%24%24

Edit:  The "M" (Modular) version of the CX500 may not be ideal for the S1 as it has only one PCIe modular cable that cascades into two PCIe connectors that seem not long enough to cover the distance between the PCIe receptacles on each S1 blade (I'm not sure since I haven't physically tried them on).

Yeah.  You don't have to go that route dude.  At all.

Time to discover a place that takes payments near the second longest river in the world, my friend.  PM me if you need more help figuring it all out.

Rebate cards = Cash in your pocket for the total amount.  No flubbing around with keeping records of which card has what left on it.

As for power supplies on the cheap, take a look at dogie's thread.  There's a link to regularly updated pricing in my signature.

What's wrong with my way of spending my rebate cards?  Are you just spamming?  I'm happy with the CX500.  None of them conk out on me yet and like I said, I get them for cheap (my last 2 PSUs was for free actually and I have enough rebates to get the next one for free again).  So what's the problem, dude?

Uhh... go back and read what you wrote in the portion I quoted and then read my response again.

The rebate cards have to be converted to Egg gift cards and apply them to the purchase.

Yeah.  You don't have to go that route dude.  At all.

Like I said if you're not familiar with the method of cashing out Rebate Cards for their full cash value, you're missing the boat.  Requiring yourself to make gift card purchases using those Rebate Cards is a backasswards philosophy.

Rebates Cards = Cash.  Simple as that.  I could introduce you to the wonderful thing that is manufactured spending today too, but let's not shatter your fragile little world just yet.   Grin

I'm happy with the CX500.  None of them conk out on me yet and like I said, I get them for cheap (my last 2 PSUs was for free actually and I have enough rebates to get the next one for free again).  So what's the problem, dude?

Not free.  That's the issue.  You're treating the Rebate Card as some sort of free money or coupon.  It isn't.

You paid into a purchase to get it. You're then treating it like a free $20 bill you found on the street when you apply it to your next purchase.  See the error in that logic?  You're claiming a "low price" on the front end AND the next purchase using the same $20.

Did you even click the link in my signature?  I'd venture to guess I spend more at Newegg in a month than you're probably spending there all year, and I'm doing upwards of $20,000 in rebates redemptions a year.  Not trying to brag or anything there.  Even my level of spending is stil considered small potatoes.  But I do kind of have a clue what I'm talking about dude.

The best deals out there per A/watt are generally those $10 or less per unit server power supplies.  A few people mentioned them in this thread.  They're server grade hardware designed to run 24/7 at high efficiency not Bronze like the CX500.  Multiple units can also be wired up to do load balancing across many mining end-points.

There's nothing wrong with your route for a small time operation of a couple of S1's although the loss on efficiency does mean more in terms of an electricity bill.  But there are better and more cost effective options out there.

So if trying to educate people on how to purchase low cost hardware is spamming then yeah count me guilty.

What`s the piont of this thread? A high end PSU is still worth a bit of money when the miner isn`t..
