Following the publication of our Statement of Principles in the coming weeks, we plan to introduce three membership tiers:

    Industry members – will pay a higher membership fee but will be able to display their affiliation on their websites and will have premium access to UKDCA events and sponsorship
    Individual members – will pay a membership fee and will be entitled to vote at elections – names will be listed on UKDCA website and will have priority access to UKDCA events
    Supporters – will not have to pay a membership fee but are able to signal their support

Paying members will have equal votes, enabling them to vote in elections for the UKDCA Board, whereas supporters will be welcome to affiliate with the UKDCA but will not be able to vote at elections.

Once the membership tiers and the rights of each tier have been fully defined by the Interim Board we will establish election procedures and publish a call to elections. These elections will determine the composition of the first Full Board of Directors and this Board will then be able to set policy and organise events going forward.

This. Always the bloody uk. It’s following same path as p2p lending. Good ideas get regulated, barriers to entry raised. Drives down returns for the real prospective supporters and risk takers - meaning risk/reward gets turned over and small new entrants have zero chance of getting a foot in.

I'll make a prediction - this 'Association' will also work out incredibly well for a while for some of its members, not so well for anyone else, and turn Bitcoin from annoyingly unregulated to annoyingly overregulated. At that point all the initial concepts and members, however well meaning, will be overrun by bankers and lawyers with deeper pockets and better connections. Bear in mind not all members will get VC money and a nice exit payoff, because once tax differentials are involved industry will be ruthless. When this gets going with compliance demands there will be no small players and industry decentralisation is over.

As a UK citizen I have decided to join the UKDCA with a paid individual annual subscription.

It will be interesting to monitor the progress of the UKDCA, although I'll probably remain the cat amongst the pigeons.

i asked this question in june... im still waiting answers..

and if they reply saying they helped HMRC decide on the VAT 'out of scope' and asset status decision, that is a lie.. check my post history in 2012-2013 legal section about UK tax, i have been in contact with HMRC and been spouting about it nearly a year before these guys went on a london tour that involved tourists getting to have their photo taken outside number 10 downing street,

and guess what the biggest joke about that 10 downing street photo publicity FUD stunt is.. HMRC dont make decisions at 'number 10'.. yes i laughed seeing their FUD attempt at fame.

seems they were only interested in a money grab.. they showed no evidence of skill or knowledge or any plan..
i asked them questions on this forum a year ago and also to their supposed email.. no reply..

i guess they realised that just grabbing membership fee's for a £5 domain name wasnt gonna get them far
