Risk is always everywhere. In this respect, the only variable is the percentage. If the risk is 50% in the top 30, this percentage increases to 55-60% in the lower ranks. That is why OP emphasized that the top 30 can be safer.

For one, It's about market sentiment. Crypto is crashing right now, because bitcoin is crashing and it's low right now. but this is very normal, if one video game company has bad earnings report, all video game companies drop. If Apple has bad earnings, the entire stock market could shift. always hold bitcoin position and always reposition when dominance fades. 2021-2022 should be the time we experience most growth. Altcoin season would be apparent when bitcoin dominance really stumbles. I am sure there will be another altcoin season but probably mostly for new projects, not the top ones.

I don’t understand why everyone thinks that they are safe if they invest in the top 30 altcoins. I have already seen so many times how coins appeared in the top 30 and disappeared from there very fast. there is no guarantee that you will save your money better if you invest in the top 30 but not in the top 200. if you are not sure about the coin you choose, it is better not to invest in it at all. best just buy bitcoin

I dont say it safe but more secured investment compared to the altcoin thats not part of the top 30 list. In terms of volume and daily trade top coins have more demand than others and chances that it will be dead is lower if you look at the altcoins.

I think this is because crypto investors were taught to HODL for long term which is going to be safer considering the project is ranked on top which somehow guarantees its also going to rise up given time up to more than a year. A reason why your investment won't be safe is if you will sell these coins in less than a month.

Crypto market always runs on trends and news if the trends/news are positive market will show uptrend movement and when the trends/news are negative than market will show downtrend movement. If you check 3months data of total market capitalization on coinmarketcap, you can easily observe market cap raised from $210 to $250B with few days with positive Chinese news https://en.cryptonomist.ch/2019/10/25/china-blockchain-development/.
So it's always better to look for opportunities like positive news such big announcement from government, testnet, mainnet, block chain upgradation, partnership announcement etc and take advantage accordingly. Its better to look after top 200 coins listed on CMC which will give more options to research and act accordingly.

Most alternative coins have been performing poorly for the past year and there is no sign of resurrection. Let's just hope that after the Bitcoin halving things will turn around. I think personally many altcoins will no longer do well, they will need to have exceptional development to attract new money into them and most developers and teams are either too greedy or just don't have the initiative it takes to make their projects attractive to newcomers and traditional investors alike. I look for coins that have strong leadership and also deflationary ones, where the supply is very attractive and use cases grow. I have invested now in one that already has seen a growth of x 3 since I bought and every month it goes up because profits from the company go every month to buy it back and burn it, so supply every month is getting less and less. Very few altcoins will make a big boom as 2017 is well and truly over with the advent of Bitcoin futures and Bitmex traders. Still, there is that hope for just one or two rare unicorns to surface and make a few more millionaires yet.

I have a good example for you where you can earn some experience. I have some tiox and already pumped 100 percent, I can't find any coin which one surged 100 percent from top 30 altcoins. Bitcoin halving is only 6 months away, altcoins will change their front and you should change your decision before stuck in top coin.

100% pump just and impossible thing to happen for top coins and mostly top coins will be getting pumped gradually and it will never be an instant pump.
But the problem that encountered by OP right now to see altcoin is not getting so many bullish trend and i think OP was seeing it based on the majority of altcoins.
No need new money to be poured into those coins. Pump doesn't mean new money is coming for altcoins but people are always jumping from one to another altcoin to get the best volatility.

Being safe is always to bitcoin. I know that many on the top 30 are good coins but it's not all of them are considered to be good. We have our own description of what safety is for altcoins but I don't think that it's a good idea that you'll turn to altcoins if you want safety.
Look to bitcoin and it's becoming stable to $7,200 - $7,300 after going down last time but it's always the attitude of it so going to the preferred safe haven, it would always be with bitcoin.

exactly, it's like a phase for those project that succesfully raising money in the past to prove that they could deliver the product as well as following their roadmap. the hype of ICO right now has dying or even died but doesn't necessarily mean that altcoin is gonna die anytime soon. it's like we've been completed the phase where everything is immature and not ready to somehow realizing that there are no project left worth investing and just waiting for the completion or finalization of many existing project.

Even the top 30 aren't safe.  Maybe you should add in more Bitcoin and Ethereum as a hedge.
