Using mobile phones in a gas station is prohibited, it is very dangerous. Also, there are more considerations needed to happen first before it can be implemented, but without using mobile phones and internet is impossible so this would be impossible to happen.

of course, because this triggers a fire or explosion, therefore the filling technology must be more sophisticated so as not to avoid the explosion, maybe the fuel storage distance must be further from the filling place or there are new discoveries about this Roll Eyes

Maybe if they can develop a crypto that can be send offline maybe it will be fine but if it needs internet it is not safe.
Remember gas station always have caution and phone should be always in airplain mode when using it near gas station.
Building crypto by being able to conduct transactions while offline seems to be against the crypto code of conduct.
And if it can be done offline it will be dangerous to do manipulation

Yes that's right, I think they can use a crypto debit card without having to use a smartphone to transact, there are many ways to pay.
The adoption of blockchain technology for payment is good, but of course there is a way out for all this

Now, imagine if a mainstream company creates a Blockchain token that could be used at Gas Stations worldwide? This would definitely increase adoption of crypto and Blockchain tech within the mainstream world like never before. After all, paying for gas is a necessity these days for transportation. This, coupled up with self-serve, could be quite revolutionary. I'd imagine people driving to a gas station and paying with crypto from their phone in their own car to get their gas tank filled automatically. This hasn't been implemented yet, but it would be cool to see it happen someday.

I fail to see why this would propel people to start using bitcoin, or other decentralized cryptos.

After all, the token is issued by a centralized entity. Even if people are rewarded with potentially discounts or whatnot by using these tokens as opposed to paying in cash at the register, it is unlikely that it will translate into grassroot adoption of other, completely separate decentralized tokens and coins.

I'm not saying that this is necessarily a bad thing, but if it does happen, even if it's by some big corporation like BP, the benefits are overstated.

I think that's an interesting idea, but it still needs to be reconsidered. One factor might be the government and community support. The second problem with gas refills is signal sensitivity. if using a card maybe the community is more amenable to what is provided by a local bank. I am sure that this will happen later, maybe after mainstream adoption.

It's 2020, yet crypto and Blockchain technology are still in their infancy. The introduction of smart contracts (via the Ethereum blockchain) to the mainstream world, has opened up a plethora of possibilities that were never imagined. Many companies have launched their own tokens via ICOs, IEOs, and even STOs. On the hand, stablecoins have been the hottest trend within the crypto space as they provide the convenience of Fiat with the security of the Blockchain.

Now, imagine if a mainstream company creates a Blockchain token that could be used at Gas Stations worldwide? This would definitely increase adoption of crypto and Blockchain tech within the mainstream world like never before. After all, paying for gas is a necessity these days for transportation. What are your thoughts? Huh
As I know it, we are not allowed to use telephone and radio equipment at petrol stations. So your idea is not feasible to carry out, which could endanger the lives of petrol buyers and employees there. But in the future I believe that cryptocurrency will be used so we can pay for other items

in my opinion it would be difficult to do transactions at the gas station because if you do a transaction with crypto using a cellphone, but inside the gas station it is not allowed to use devices that have signals, because you can imagine. need systematic re-management that does not endanger the area.

it seems to be very difficult, like rac kroc which is developing McDonald's throughout the world.
may occur but it may take a long time.
but before that let's be more specific first, for example some countries slowly begin to accept crypto first, then enter the development stage as you say when all countries have accepted.

Actually in my country there is one independent gas station was accepting cryptocurrency as a payment in form of bitcoin, these was published on nov 7 2018 so its not new at all, btw the safety is not and issue since the payment booth is within safe distance from the fuel pump itself and second the payment booth was inclose and inside of a mini grocery so its safe. i was amazed with these development in cryptocurrency payment adoption and waiting for more industry to adopt the same.

Why is it not paid with fiat money via electronic wallets? Even now e-wallet apps are still offering promotions by paying on their wallet systems. So tell me why do I have to use crypto, a coin with expensive transaction fees and need many steps to make a transaction? I haven't seen the utility of paying with crypto. I think using credit cards is faster than ever, I haven't had the habit of changing things that are familiar to me for a long time.

Your answer was a good answer for those who talk about impossible crypto payment.
Accepting cryptocurrency as a payment in a frequently used system will surely help to improve adoption. In fact, it is useful to change the payment system in all stores, not just at gas stations, but still good as a start.

Gas stations usually have signs about should not use phone when at the gas station cause it might cause a big problem. But in reality there's no record of any experience where a fire ignite because of using of phone in gasoline stations but it's like a precaution because it can still happen. So I don't think it will still be advisable to use electronic devices in gasoline stations and this kind of idea of crypto payments in gas stations would be difficult to happen.

I think I've seen a gas station that accepts crypto but it's offshore that was posted here before and I can barely remember where that could be.
So, you saw it in real life? Not from reading an article/news? Once you found it, just post the picture or the link source if you got it from an article. I am curious to know it since it never happened in my country.
It's from an article, my apologies if I haven't included that and used the term 'seen' instead of 'read'. I can't remember if this was the article that I've seen before.

There's also an old news regarding this.

There are so many projects that promise something globally that way ... No one has yet succeeded. I don't think it makes sense to make such promises.

Almost anywhere in the world can be different pricing for oil. Therefore, such a project is not likely to emerge in a short time. If the OPEC countries convene and make a decision on this issue ... I am not sure if that is possible.

Isn't it dangerous if the transaction signal queue can trigger the gas to overflow and become a fire? unless previously ordered with the application system in advance. if they don't use stable coins, many will be confused by the ever changing rates. On the other hand, it might be effective if applied at electric vehicle stations.
Agreed on this one. It would be dangerous to use phone inside our car to get the gas tank filled or near the gas station. It's not the use of phone that will ignites fire I think. But because cellphone's electrical current is enough to jolt a small detonator charge. But, if we're using a barcode, it does need a connection as well, do we not?

Not to mention the rate could changes every mins and any time. Nowadays we pay from our cards, if there's a bank that could store cryptocurrency and that one has a card like credit cards perhaps, it might work the same I think.

But it's a great idea nonetheless.

Well said.

I completely agree with this. Imagine the ease of paying for a gas station with a single QR scan without paper money.
But the problem is how to promote it. In my country, every gas station can pay with e-money. And what I saw was that it was still lacking in public interest. Most of us still pay by fiat.
That's just what I wanted to write about. In my country, most people also pay for gas stations using debit e-cards.On the other hand, in view of the fact that gas and any natural resources are tied to the wealth of a particular country, I do not think that ,,universal,, blockchain will be able to please anyone.

Yes. It's dangerous to use phones in a nearby gas station. But a workaround for this, would be to place an automated cashier before the entrance of the gas station. If you don't pay with your smartphone, you won't get entry to the station. It's as simple as that. With so many businesses and mainstream corporations interested in crypto and Blockchain tech, I wouldn't be surprised to see a blockchain-based token that would represent "real gasoline" sometime in the future. As long as there is demand for digital assets in the mainstream world, this type of business venture will be successful in the long run. This would definitely go great with government-backed digital currencies than anything else. As we enter a cashless society, the need for credit cards and physical cash will be no more. People will either use mobile devices for paying at any store, or simply an implant on their own hand.

There are various ways to do this, once the blockchain-based "gas" token is created within the mainstream world. While the idea is there, it's up to mainstream companies to make this a reality. There might be other important things to focus besides this one. But, we cannot discard the possibility it might happen sometime in the future.

Nonetheless, I look forward for self-serve gas stations which accept crypto (or tokens) as payment. There could be an automated cashier too, which eliminates the need for human intervention. The future is bright for everything shifting from the traditional system into one that's backed by the Blockchain. Just my opinion Smiley

Some companies are starting to use crypto. However, it may take time for a big company to create their own coin to be used for their services. Once big companies have seen the advantage of crypto being associated in business, this can push other companies to adapt and associate crypto in their businesses.

This, coupled up with self-serve, could be quite revolutionary. I'd imagine people driving to a gas station and paying with crypto from their phone in their own car to get their gas tank filled automatically. This hasn't been implemented yet, but it would be cool to see it happen someday.

That will need interconnection from whole of blockchains in the world. Remember even the cross blockchain platform is not alive yet as so many blockchains didn't give the permission for the developers to create a cross blockchain platform that connected one to another blockchain. This idea is so difficult to be real as the development is not easy caused by any blockchain has the different construction and that needs a very long time development.
Not so many cross blockchain platforms are exist these days.
