I already experienced this, especially before when a lot of wrong doings happened to me.
I become addicted in gambling while I am broke before, financial broken and heart broken at the same time.
For a week, I lost ton of Bitcoins for the NBA GAMBLING.

After that bloody week, I reset myself, I started on foods hahaha and becomes fit, find a work and find things that I will become busy again and the rest of days it went well, I still do gambling, but in control and responsible.

I am not totally addicted but I know someone who overcomes being addicted. He was addicted to casino games and even sell his own tangible assets just to get enough money to start playing. Imagine how addicted he is, and the one who help him is his wife, even if he did a terrible mistake, his wife still accepts him with open arms. That is when he really stop playing, until today he doesn't play and he focused more on working hard to earn enough money.

it is a very tough question because only Few will admit that they are once an addict or still addicted now,and also it is something we cannot be proud of(or maybe it is my opinion only)

I've been an addict since before I realized that it is not a good way to kill my time and to earn money at the same time, I am slowing downplaying since I want to really stop playing gambling, I've tried stopping it instantly but after some time I got back and played again at a regular basis, Now I'm on a process of reducing my activities on playing gambling, I think I got rid of the addiction and I can control now the urge to play gambling. I also set a limitation on myself on playing.
is there something you do or someone helps you to make this realization mate?because i believe that this is not easy and there are many gamblers tried but fails to totally control themselves in Betting too much, until they lose all the money that is the only time they are stopping.

I have had family members who had both alcohol addiction and gambling addictions and the best "cure" for them, was to face the reality of losing their family and friends and their house and their job. Once they saw that their addiction was causing not only harm to them, but also the people around them, they just stopped by slowly reducing the exposure to those bad habits and eventually they stopped.

It is a slow and long process and some of them have fallen again, but with the help of a good support network, they managed to get out of it again.

The addiction was in many instances a way for them to fill a gap for something else that bothered them. One had too much money and he got bored with living a average life, so he wanted to take some irresponsible risks to fill that need and gambling filled that need. The other person had some bad things happening with her when she was younger and the alcohol helped her to escape from that.

You cannot fill something bad with more bad things, so you will have to look for something good to fill that need. The guy got into some charity work and it is keeping him very busy now, so his mind is occupied with good things. The lady went for some treatment and they helped her with the withdrawal process and she is now helping kids with the same problems on a part-time basis.

Find the reason for the addiction and fill that with something good.

This is exactly the same realization I had, every people beside me slowly going out of my side, that feeling of there is no one in there to make me feel that I am not alone. My gambling addiction affects not only my life but also my family.

It is a slow and long process and some of them have fallen again, but with the help of a good support network, they managed to get out of it again.

A long process where you also need to get their trust again and make them feel that everything happened in the past will never happen again.

The other person had some bad things happening with her when she was younger and the alcohol helped her to escape from that

In most cases, it is just intense and exasperating boredom (get used to it)

When you are busy in life in a personally fulfilling and productive way (which, ironically, is rarely the case in real life), you won't even think about gambling as any sane person is fully aware of the fact that it is only a substitute for real life. In this manner, a way of getting out of this addiction is to find something which will make the life of a gambling addict, any addict for that matter, as bright as the illusion of richness and fullness of life that he experiences when gambling, the feeling of being alive, but without the destructive element in it

I don't know if mine would be considered as an addiction or just hooked up with the games so bad. I have had episodes of going into continuous hours of playing without even eating, and would just stretch a little bit and get back to my game. Perhaps that's not the proudest thing I have done  it was a part of me for a few months before I curbed my 'addiction' and started doing something else.

Needless to say, I shifted my interest into different things, mainly outdoor activities and immersed myself into my work. Fast forward and I am here, still playing every weekends but not spending hours upon hours into gambling just like what I used to.

So please share you experience so we can also help those who might have been experiencing an addiction right now.
Even though we know that there are gambling addicts who say that gambling is only for fun, the main thing that I think about is victory. Winning will make money, and many of those who bet it want to win and get money.

If the purpose of their gambling is for pleasure, then they dont have to stop and when they bet because of money, it might be more addictive than those who bet for fun.

If someone gambles because they want to get more money then the thing he must do when deciding to quit is to find another job that can make money both from real and online jobs. Staying busy with other jobs will help them not to have free time to gamble.

Same here, I was never addicted so I can't talk about it that way, however for me it was mostly the "pass time at work" thing for me. I was a call center operator with plenty of down time and my boss was such a sweetheart that I was capable of watching TV shows and movies at work and he wouldn't say a thing, I was really good at my job as well since it was only a call center job and as long as you didn't intentionally did anything wrong or if you didn't had a brain freeze time.

I spent 90% of my time gambling there because I was mostly bored and I had a lot of bitcoins since it was early days, I have lost god knows how much but at that time it didn't worth to anything. One day bitcoin went above 200 dollars, I actually lost a real amount this time and I decided to quit playing for a long time. Now, I gamble again here and there but not that frequently anymore.

I haven't been addicted to gambling, not even for a short time. But I know that whenever my sports betting wallets have balance, it urges me to place bets even if I am not very familiar with the matches. I tend to bet and bet even on over/under per quarter on NBA games as if I am just betting on a coin toss, without much logical basis or analysis. And so I need to keep my balance at a minimum so that I will be limited in my gambling expenses. Also, if I am on a losing streak, I tend to get emotional and desperately squander what's left. Again, I see to it that my wallet does not have too much.

Firstly a good way is to decide that you are getting it wrong by gambling too much and this itself is the first win for you . Try and develop some new hobbies and enrol yourself into new activities which you like or passionate about . I have seen this really helps and people after some times leave gambling or can easily start away from it as they get busy in other stuff in their life .
Yes, I'm currently studying right. Trying to learn some programming languages that I can also use in cryptocurrency, I tried focusing on other things but I can't really stop playing but the good thing is I can control now the eagerness to play gambling.

This might the proper way for me to stop the addictiveness I have before.

When you say cured? Does it mean someone who is a compulsive gambler before who completely stopped gambling? Or those who were addicted and, can now overcome their urge and play casually? I use to gamble a lot before, but now I gamble casually and I would say I was able to take gambling out of my system.

I felt that my day is incomplete without gambling, but now I don't feel the need or urge to gamble. I think the key is your drive to control your self. Any habit that is not healthy, even difficult must be stopped.

Based on my understanding, the word cured refers to the person who was once very addicted to gambling to the point they can’t live without gambling was able to conquer addiction and now can play occasionally without getting addicted, which also means they now have stronger self control that they can stop when they wanted and needed to. For me the best way to really overcome addiction is with a help of professionals or say rehab because it will have activities wherein you will forget gambling and little by little you’ll get gambling out of your system.

You will get cured from an addiction to gamble when you don't have anything. I'm sure you will cured by 100%, because you need money to play gambling, without it you will just wacth the game.

So the solution is, you need to ask to someone that closes to you that you are an addict to gambling. It will be good if you have to tell to your parent (family) even your wife to prevent to play gambling. And ask them, to don't give money to you and avoiding some access that can make you play gambling. Of course you have to tell how you play gambling and you don't need to lie. I'm sure with that way you will be cured to be an addict.

Im not addicted to gambling thats why i cant say nor conclude things on how to get rid of it.
Well, as part on basic things we do know on how to quit then it would be the ff.
-Find other things or activities that will distract you on playing gambling
-Seek for help neither on a professional or your love ones.
-Lastly, it will matter on mindset and seriousness on quitting.

I have never been in that kind of situation but I know someone who's addicted but get to manage himself after all those years.  A friend of my mine had overcome gambling addiction last year but before that, gambling affects not only his financial status but also his health that is the reason why me and my friends decided to make an action because we know how it made a negative impact on his life. We told him how to manage himself like making time for other things other than gambling because there are various way to entertain yourself like reading books or watching movies. We make it step by step and as the day passes by we have seen some improvements. We also make him see how gambling change his life especially his health because he's gambling addiction makes him stay up all night without even eating his food. I know that its difficult for him but we are also concern about him. I'm glad that he finally learn his lesson because he already know how to control himself, gambling's purpose is to make you happy and satisfied but if it makes your life miserable then there's a problem. Making him realize his mistakes makes an impact on his way of thinking, it slaps the reality inside of him and it works.

I think the better solution there is a total discipline. Many gamblers problem is their lack of control and this usually tend to continue even though they dont have anymore funds for gambling and will resort to anyway just to have money and play again.
Total discipline won't help much in stopping the urge to gamble. Some gamblers that ran out of money because of gambling results in stealing money and selling their stuff. I have cross a thread where the poster ask for opinion on what to do since the person that he is talking about is a gambling addict and sold some of his stuff just to have money for gambling. It would be very hard it is possible to help a person from being a gambling addict.

Well, technically cured is the right word because gambling addiction is a mental health issue. Not a disease since it can't be transferred, but it can still be cured nonetheless.

Personally, I only gamble in my spare time, but I have seen people that have gradually cut down using various strategies designed to minimize real risk.

For example, some games like luckydice.com and bitkong.com have a 'for fun' mode which you can use to play for free.

So if you're struggling but still need that adrenaline, you can use these modes.

I read that there are people who are addicted in gambling but they are successfully cured from addiction, I'm interested to know what are the methods they do in order to get cured from such addiction, I use the word cured because gambling is a serious problem, I call it as a disease, so please share you experience so we can also help those who might have been experiencing an addiction right now.

I think there is no cure but a way to avoid yourself from being addicted. I am addicted in the past but I am still gambling right now. The only difference is that I can control myself, I can stop now but I can't remove gambling out of my life. Some of the professionals that I talked to said that since I can control myself in gambling, I should also control myself from going to these places. I am trying for the past months to stop but it is hard. It is just like an itch that you can't stop.

My partner in life played a big role to cure my addiction. What I am doing is now is nothing to compare to what I am doing in the past. From the experience that I have, you can't really cure addiction that easily, it is been years that I stopped my addiction but until now I am still gambling, just imagine how hard that is.

When we get addicted, the only way to get rid of the same is through alternate focus. We need to turn our focus towards something else, and if we get self satisfaction on the alternate thing one will easily get out of addiction. If the alternate focus too doesn't fulfill the mind, automatically the person gets back to gambling.

Whether it is money based or something else, people wish to achieve it in a very short time period. This is where people easily gets addicted.
