Honestly, I am not confident enough to ask someone for a loan for gambling purposes. Even though I have a chance to win, this step is very risky and will cause other problems.

what I think about gambling is really a very risky thing. And the only strategy can not give the 100% chance of winning. The other thing also needs besides the strategy is Luck. But Luck also does not favor all time. So I think borrowing money for gambling is really a bad idea. And nobody should do it IMO.

This is my personal opinion, maybe it will not correct for someone but it is correct to me and I never do it.

Please do not use loan money from your friends for bankroll in sports gambling. That's a bad decision, even if you believe with your ability
in gambling. Try to think of the worst scenario if you fail at sports gambling, chances are you are will have difficulty returning your friend's

I think I need to step back and check the post again of the OP. He is actually considering using the borrowed money for sports betting.  Now in my opinion, I have already experienced this situation but it is not me who is borrowing but rather a friend, a close friend who wants to bet a basketball team on its finals. As we are in agreement that it might be the winning team, I borrowed him some money, not really big, but added my bet as well. Told him that my bet is separate than his and that should double the amount if we win. Luckily we won but because we realized at the end it is really risky doing sports betting (risky in a sense that I don't experience this sense of anxiety compared to doing online poker, honestly I felt uncomfortable). That was the only time I lend money and did a sports bet. If we are dealing let's say with 100 dollars then by all means do it. But if we dealing more than a hundred, I would think twice.

I guess we have all been in that situation. I never ever lend money to friends anymore. If it is an emergency and they need it like life and death, I give them what I can afford, and never expect it back. So many friendships are lost because of borrowed money,,, it is never worth it.

I mentioned in another thread too about all these casino gamblers loaning each other money and eventually fighting. Such drama.

It's a dangerous  decision  if you do that. There are many ways to play using your own money but having a loan will make you in depth in long term if you make a large loan because  of too much trust for your skills ,.

I think I'm going to take that loan since he was my friend   But it still depends on what kind of friend he is. I do a lot of this kind of loan where I'm giving it up to gamble but most of the time it was just a small amount and not cryptocurrency maybe because I have a bit of understanding in cryptocurrency and it could be a disaster in for me I a take a loan in crypto and suddenly the market price pump in the market. For a small amount and would take the risk of gambling as long as I know that I could easily make that money that I'm going to lose in the game. Probably because I just don't want my friend to not trust me anymore if I end up running in these high loans.

^  Nope...  Not really.  There are some forms of 'gambling' that requires a larger degree of skill.  Poker and sports betting come to mind.  Pretty sure card counting at black jack is a skill.

As for borrowing money to gamble, sure...  I see it all the time at poker.  It's called staking.  And yes, some make money out of it...  It's run like a business.

Doesn't matter if you are good at "gambling" or have some mind blowing "skills", you still shouldn't borrow or take loans from anyone or the bank just to gamble them. Never borrow money if you don't have a plan how to return it. It's OK to borrow money, for whatever reason, but you borrow money in Friday to have for weekend fun, but your paycheck is coming in Monday and you will return all of it. The same is for everything else! If you are borrowing money for gambling business, or whatever without a clear plan how you will return that money you will be in a deep shit. Don't relay on gambling win, its not smart, if you lose you will be double disappointed, from losing in gambling and because you owe money to someone. Because you will play with an handicap in your bet, likewise a double pressure = win and recover money for your friend.
What if you lose? You will play more for paying your friend? Loanshark? Working more?
No despite it's your friend, always playing just with your money.

Even let's say that I'm a skilled gambler, I wouldn't practice taking loans so that I can continue. That's not good IMO.

You're building confidence that much and too much isn't good for anything. You can't always assume good results even you are too good with it. Even in other things that you're good at.
